Falling Into Fall

Finally the weather is turning and it truly feels like fall. The trees are beginning to get bare, the air is crisp today-AND we may get our first frost overnight! Looks like I'll finally be putting my summer annuals to rest, but I love that they lasted for so long.

I have a tag meant for  The Simon Monday Challenge ( It's a Dog's Life), Tag Tuesday ( Autumn and/or Halloween), and Try It On Tuesday (Halloween) :

This is a shot of the background:

I thought it came out pretty cool and almost didn't want to cover it up:)

A larger pic of the finished tag:

Products: manila tag (Ranger); Tim Holtz Paper Dolls, Mosaic Layering stencil; modeling paste (Liquitex); Distress inks- Soot, Vintage Photo; Distress Spray Stain- Fossilized Amber; Dylusions Ink Sprays- Lemon Zest, Black Marble; foam skeleton head (Creatology); witch hat sticker (Nicole); Tim Holtz Seasonal Chit Chat stickers; bat sticker (Recollections); spider ribbon (Michaels).

My beverage and food of choice this week for T  Stands For Tuesday:

This is outside our motel room in Cape May. One morning we decided to make our coffee there and walk around the corner to pick up a few goodies at a newly opened bakery. Unfortunately I didn't take my camera with me-but it looked like a fancy bakery in Europe-and the pastries were just as good! We both had a pain au chocolat and Bill also had a currant scone.

 Our view from our room:

I have an autumn inspired journal page:

A coat of gesso was applied to the page. I put dots of Golden High Flow inks (Nickel Azo Gold, Quinacridone Red, and Green Gold) randomly around the page then used a wad of deli paper to smoosh the inks around. Black spatters were added with watered down black acrylic paint. Leaves (Darkroom Door) were stencilled on. Glued on a patterned paper scrap and Tim Holtz Ideaology Quote Chip. Wrote sentiment with a black Molotow pen.

Joining with Art Journal Journey (theme is Landscapes Of The Soul); Mix It Monthly (theme is Autumn) and Paint Party Friday

I got some new cookbooks to read (and hopefully find some new good recipes!). I love reading cookbooks and these three really appealed to me as they have a wealth of good information. Best of all I got them from a bookseller (via a catalogue) for only a few dollars a piece compared to what they wanted for them on Amazon!

Do you like to read cookbooks? What are you currently reading?

Lastly- I am still cleaning out/purging and took 2 bags of clothes, 1 bag of shoes and purses away-yay! and that inspired me to get my 2018 planner ready to go! You can see the original one in this post along with links and the YouTube video that I used.

For the front and back covers I simply resized and printed out two of my pieces of art and slipped them into the plastic to change them from last years. Oops- should have changed the color cartridge before printing the back side one! Then I printed out the monthly calendar pages and weekly pages for each month from Scattered Squirrel (free!). I kept the same pockets and dividers I had made last year. Done!

That's it for now.  Coming soon- some abstract art and photoshop play, a winery tour, and who knows what else:) XO

don't you just LOVE this quote?

  1. Firstly, well done on clearing out and purging - I have sacks ready and haven't done anything yet! Wonderful art as always, love that cute little dog, and thanks so much for joining us at Tag Tuesday, much appreciated. Great autumn page, too. Happy T Day, hugs, Valerie

  2. Autumn has yet to arrive here, but it did get cold Sunday night. So chilly in fact, I actually pulled a blanket onto my bed. No frost or freeze yet, at least, so my herb garden is still going strong.

I adore your Halloween inspired tag. It is gorgeous. I also like the background and sometimes have trouble covering mine, too.

Those recipe books look interesting. I would like to know more about the soup cleansing and the anti-inflammatory recipes. I have so many recipe books now, I need to get rid of a few of the ones I never use anymore.

I was really impressed with your decluttering efforts and your new 2018 planner. Good for you.

Of course, I really enjoyed the coffee and pastries you two had. It looked like a great place to sit and enjoy the beach, too.

Thanks for sharing your great art, your beautiful tag, your new 2018 planner, and your coffee and pastries with us for T this Tuesday. Pain au chocolat even sounds French!

  7. I love reading cookbooks too. I have too many though so when I go to make something I don't know where to look. :) I love your Halloween tag Linda. I did a similar thing recently and put a new head on a TH figure. Yours is better than mine though. I love the silly skull. You've been busy making art (I am jealous- I want to stay home and make art today) and I wish it was summer and I was at that beach too. It looks pretty. Have a great T day. Hugs-Erika

  10. Lots happening here-I love love the halloween tag and I have never been real big on the holiday although I love fall most of all. Love those textures for the background. Your autumn page is super nice too.
we had a very light freeze monday morning but still have most of the annuals and now it has warmed up to the 40s at nite now. the bakery you found sounds like something my husband would just love to visit.
I love love to read cookbooks. I have a huge collection-so large that several years ago I went through many of them and sold some on my blog my shelving for them was over loaded lol. Right now I am mostly reading 1700s and 1800s hearth cooking for tips on how they used their cast iron pieces.
    Happy T Day Kathy

  11. What a great post! Your tag is wonderful and I love that amazing background you created - perfect 😁. It must have been a lovely holiday being so close to the sea and I'd be happy with those sweet treats from the new bakery too ...lol 😉. Your autumn inspired page is beautiful and those silhouettes look so striking against those autumnal colours. Yes I like cookbooks and have just been recently reading a Ken Holm Chinese Cookbook and also one called Classic Italian - I'm trying to source a nice red pepper pasta sauce as my hubby can't eat tomatoes anymore 😁. Wishing you a Happy T Day! J 😊

  12. Yes, your Halloween inspired tag is great.
What a bargain to get those cook books for a good Price! I love to read cook books too. I love to read Jamie Oliver, an English cook who does great, Italian inspired food and writes about his experiences. I just sit down and read and look at the pictures. If there is a récipe that I can get the ingredients for, I will cook it.
I loved to see the pictures of Cape May. What a lovely place. That bakery sounds delish!
    Happy T-Day

  13. Your tag has me grinning from ear to ear, Linda. The background was gorgeous. On a bigger scale it would make a great abstract canvas by itself!

I used to love cookbooks and have a good library that I don't use much anymore. I still love to clip recipes from magazines and print ones to try that I find online. I probably actually try less than 10% of those - lol. But we just got an electric pressure cooker, so the pressure to cook is back on ;-)

I'm really impressed that you have your 2018 planner all set to go!!!

    Love the closing quote.

    Happy T-Day! Hugs, Eileen

  14. Oh My!Your art today is truly DROLL WORTHY and in the best of ways :) I love cookbooks too and have way too many even though I thinned them out a couple of years ago. The Anti-inflammatory Diet one really interested me ! Thanks for stopping by my blog and yes the bottle is why I purchased the cider to begin with. Liking it also is just a bonus. For $2 you can't buy a nice bottle.

  20. Fabulous background on the tag. The skelly in his trenchcoat reminds me of the TV detective, Columbone! :-D I really love the view from your hotel room. Perfect to be able to walk across the street to the beach. We had our first frost last night, so no beach until next Summer. Is it July, yet? Happy T Day

  31. The tag is darling and I especially like the background. What a beautiful piece is "Collect Beautiful Moments". The color fairly leap off at you - so gorgeous. I think those Golden products are so good. But it was the way your used them that produced such great results.
