Well, since my last post we have a new president. And the only thing I will say is "People, we need to work together!!" Since the election ended there has been continued news of arguments amongst groups, and protests sparking more fights. Really, this has got to stop if we want anything to improve. Nuff said on that topic.
Art helps me breathe. My first card was inspired by this sketch:
and here's my card:
I used some of my new stamps from Altenew- Painted Flowers and Painted Words. Washi tapes and rhinestones are from Recollections. I also used Distress inks in Worn Lipstick and Festive Berries, and Versafine ink in Onyx Black and Green Tea. I rarely seem to get something done in time to link up at FMS but I really enjoy working with the sketches the DT comes up with each week.
My next card is for both the Simon Monday Challenge and the Simon Wednesday Challenge which is "Thanks/Thanksgiving"
Background was made using the gesso resist technique, several Distress inks, and stamps from Magenta and PSX. I added a silk leaf. Sentiment is computer generated.
Baking:
With autumn in full swing I have been baking lots of things pumpkin-pumpkin squares, pumpkin bread, pumpkin muffins, and most recently pumpkin rolls of which I'm happy to share along with a cup of coffee in my fall mug for T Stands For Tuesday. I love the flavor and the scent that fills the air- and who doesn't love pumpkin??? Really, is there anyone reading this who doesn't like pumpkin? I'd love to know!
Collage: Susi is hosting Art Journal Journey with the theme this month being "collage-with a twist". The twist is no faces, no wings, no leaves. I am thoroughly enjoying this theme and playing with my stashes of papers and bits! So here is another completed journal page and I have two more in the works:)
I glued down lots of paper scraps, used stencils and black acrylic for the heart and sentiment, then edged the page with washi tape. Hope to see you join in at any of the blogs or challenges mentioned. Have a super week ahead!
" You may say I'm a dreamer. But I'm not the only one. I hope some day you'll join us, and the world will be as one." John Lennon

ReplyDeleteWonderful art projects and wise words. I enjoyed reading your post Linda. Its an awesome journal page with the bold heart and John Lennon's quote at the end says it all for me.
ReplyDeleteThe pumpkin roll looks delicious, I can imagine the homely aromas in your kitchen when it was in the oven.
Happy T Day.

Love your card creations and your collage is divine ~ so creative ~ thanks!
ReplyDeleteWishing you a Happy Week ~ xox
I love the cards and the collage Linda. You used some great paper pieces that makes the background really rich-reminds me of a patchwork quilt. And the pumpkin roll looks delicious. I don't know how anyone doesn't like pumpkin either. Happy T day. Hugs-Erika
ReplyDeleteI'm still not ready to move on, but I won't spoil your mood by going on about it ;)
ReplyDeleteMaybe some of your pumpkin treats and a cuppa will put me in a better mood. Happy T Tuesday!
Your cards are beautiful. I really love the one with the leaves. Even though they were both from the same sketch, they are totally different and unique.
ReplyDeleteI simply adore your AJJ BE you tiful. It is fantastic and I think original.
I've made pumpkin rolls twice before, and swore I would never do it again. Mine were bigger than yours, though, and harder to handle. You are right. Everyone loves them, and they go quickly at parties and gatherings.
Thanks for sharing your art, your pumpkin roll and your coffee with us for T this Tuesday.
Lovely cake to go with your drink and a beautiful journal page for AJJ.

ReplyDeletep.s. Thanks for the lovely comments you left on my blog today. x
Your cards are awesome! And your work for Art Journal Journey is... beautiful :)
ReplyDeleteWhen I grew up we only new the sweet&sour kind of pumpkin out of a jar, which I hated. Then in Australia I learned about pumpkin soup and roasted pumpkin. Since then I love it. However, all this pumpkin spice here and pumpkin spice there - that's too much for me.
wonderful post, linda! awesome art - and this roll looks so yummy! i also love the pumpkin season, it is so versatile to cook/bake with it.
ReplyDeletehappy t-day!
Love your ABC's!! Everything is wonderful including your wise words at the beginning. :)
ReplyDeleteNever have i seen an election where people are still behaving so badly after the election... at least not in my memory... To me its done... the people have spoken and now its time to make it all work.. alot of times i feel the press just eggs things on instead of letting things calm down... but like you said enough of that mess! :) I love BOTH your cards here. Just beautiful.. I LOVE pumpkin... but BUT are you ready?? Hubby HATEs pumpkin!! Can you believe it?!! lol Thank you so much for your kind comments on the house update... I will definitely be showing off the snake one of these days...lol I hope what i have in my brain translates well to the snake..lol Happy happy Tday! Hugs! deb
ReplyDeleteYes the election is OVER, a least give the man a chance! It make me ill to see all the hate in the streets....thanks to the press it will continue.........enough!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful card and I love the journal page too.
Yes, I do love pumpkin and your photo has my mouth watering.....pumpkin rolls are one of my favorite pumpkin dishes....oh, I can just taste them now!
Happy T-day
love your cards I have been making cards to day too..lovely swiss roll cake too
ReplyDeleteBoth of your cards are wonderful and I do so love your journal page - great sentiment! I wish we could get hold of pumpkin but it seems that once Halloween is over no one (except us) wants it - I had to make do with a butternut squash last week! Chrisx
ReplyDeleteI really love what you have done with the sketch, the card looks so fresh with that lovely washi tape on the black and white stripes, and the second card is great too with that fantastic leafy background.
ReplyDeleteThe AJJ is gorgeous, I've been admiring the background, and it's a nice message.
Oh what beautiful cards! The simplest sketches are often the best.
ReplyDeletePumpkin roll. Sounds yummy. Clever you to make that. I have tried making roll before and I find it very fiddly.
Everyone like pumpkin? Hmm, I'm not too sure I like pumpkins. They don't have much taste and they are a pain to peel and process, but with the right spices it tastes very nice. I have made pumpkin pie several times and loved it!
Your collage page is great. Or Be you tiful as you would say.
Happy T-Day,
Thank you for your kind comment,
Lisca
Love the cards and the journal page is great. The high light for me is the Pumpkin Roll!!!! I am in full pumpkin overload here and loving every BITE!!!!

ReplyDeleteBeautiful art as ever :) Especially love the colours in the last one.
ReplyDeleteI love pumpkin... although I must admit I've only ever had it from a can. Woody made two pumpkin pies this year and they were great.
