A New Art Journal,Tea, and More

It's "T" uesday again and time to join Bleubeard and Elizabeth for "T Stands for Tuesday". You don't have to drink tea or coffee- but it's nice to share a cuppa/glass/mug of something while visiting the linked up participants:) We share art, families, books, drinks -pretty much anything your heart desires! Please consider joining in-we'd love to come visit you too and Elizabeth always has enough to share with her guests.

I needed a new art journal so I got this Canson 7"w x 10" h. mixed media journal-a new size for me-and guess what- the perfect size for using up the deli paper prints made from the 8" x 10" gelli plate! As I've said before I am determined to use as many of my prints as I can because I am dying to make more! So I began gluing some down onto the blank pages. I enjoyed a bottle of Honest Tea green tea with a hint of honey -nice and refreshing on a really warm day.

Here are some of the pages I covered:

A few weeks ago I shared this collage of our cat birds and nest:

The eggs hatched just before we went on vacation:

And when we got home again they were already gone. So, I plucked the nest and used it to decorate the center of my bistro table:

The Simon Monday Challenge Blog theme for this week is "anything goes" so I'm sharing this card I made recently:

Products used: lg white note card (canvas Corp); white card stock (the Paper Studio); patterned paper (Stampington and Co.); washi tape (Recollections); clear stamp (Stampabilities); Versafine Onyx Black ink (Tsukineko); digital collage image (Paper Whimsy); paper flowers (the Paper Studio); fancy button (Dress It Up); Grand Calibur die cut machine, Labels 8 dies, Big Scalloped Circles Lg dies (Spellbinders; Stickles gold glitter glue (Ranger).

And lastly another yummy, tasty and healthy summer side:

Grilled Zucchini Sticks     (RECIPE AT END OF POST)

These are flavored with a chipotle blend seasoning and I loved these so much I made them twice in a week-just for myself :) Hubby did try one but he will still only eat zucchini in cake! Sorry, that will have to wait until I get tired of making these.

                                                        Grilled Zucchini Sticks (serves 2)

2 med sized zucchini, peeled and cut into even sized sticks     2 or 3  tsp olive oil

1- 1/2 Tbsp chipotle seasoning         gallon size plastic bag

Add all ingredients into the plastic bag and move around to coat the zucchini. Place on a grill plate in a single layer onto a hot grill. Turn to grill remaining sides. Note-I made the original recipe in the oven as directed the first time but much preferred  a HOT grill so they wouldn't get so soft as zucchini contains a lot of water.

  1. Oh Linda, I adore the recipe you shared this time. I'm going to try these.

You have some lovely gelli papers. I remember asking EVERYONE I KNEW for 3 1/2 years for a gelli plate. Bleubeard finally bought me one for Christmas last year. I've only played with it ONCE. I wasn't all that impressed with it. I think I prefer gelatin (homemade) or my plexiglass printer better. I'm so glad you like yours. And I can tell you really like using deli papers with it, too (grin).

Thanks for sharing your tea, new journal, bird nest, and zucchini recipe with us for T this Tuesday.

  2. Lovely deli paper prints Linda. I too was making them the last two days. I was not feeling very creative so was just playing around with deli paper and paints.
This journal size looks good I once bought a 9/12 size and it didn't work for me.
How sweet to know that the little birds have all flown away.
    Have a great week

  3. Hubby shocked me by liking zucchini in stirfry!! Willl wonders never cease. LOL! Hugs! deb

  4. Oh, yummy! I love zucchini! This is something I must try.
What a wonderful way to use your gelli plate prints. I have wonder what most people do with their prints, have only seen a few that actually USE them in their art, E more than anyone else. But YOUR idea makes me want to make some prints for my journal.

Thanks for always visiting on Tuesday
    Happy T-day

  5. I really like the Cranson mixed media notebooks, have used several sizes in the past. Your gelli art looks so interesting. A new zucchini recipe is always welcome at our house since we have the proverbial zucchini overload in the garden. I'll be trying the recipe soon.

  6. Oh such wonderfully colorful and creative journal pages, darling photos and delish recipe ~ Happy Week to you ~ xoxox

  10. Your new journal pages look super with all of your beautiful gelli print pages...I would find it hard to cover them up :-)...lovely card too...
Your birdie and nest photos are precious!
and now I'm hungry for zucchini.
I have an old old recipe for chocolate zucchini cake that we used to really enjoy...
with just two of us I don't do all that much baking anymore.
Thought of you when the latest AAA magazine arrived with an article I plan to read on Cape May...
    Happy T Day

  11. How perfect for using your gelli plate papers! And they are so pretty!
Zucchini usually goes into bread over here. ;)

  15. Great Gelli prints !!! Your new journal is going to be awesome . Cute decor with the birds nest... I have several nest I have collected and want to use this Christmas on the tree. Have them all sealed up in plastic right now to smother any unwanted creatures that may be lurking in them.

  16. Ooh, I love your backgrounds Linda. The colours are all so lovely. Your tea drink sounds very nice.
I remember the wee birds because I remember looking them up, as I found the name 'Cat Bird' quite intriguing; and how sweet that you got photos of the chicks and now you have the nest too. Hope it doesn't get blown away too soon. :D

  17. I haven't seen a catbird in years! Thx for sharing you photo :)

  18. What beautiful photos of your catbird. Those eggs were a stunning colour.
You have done very well with your gelli plate prints. Great way of using them.
PS I went in the local supermarket on Saturday just to buy some flavoured teas (it has the best selection of good quality ones). As I unpacked the bag Hubby asked why the avocado? I started to explain and I got the raised eyebrow! Sooo funny. He just knew it would have to be crafting involved!! I ate it tonight...nom nom nom!

  19. I love your stamping art, Linda! Ooh, and I also love your ads in the right column! One of them, the Draw Your Awesome Life one, was created by the author of one of my favorite doodling books! Fun!

  20. Such gorgeous vibrant journal pages. I'm not sure if I like zucchini but this sticks do look delicious!
