Well hello everyone! Hope you had a good week last week - and maybe some nice weather too. Finally we had two gloriously warm, sunny days last Friday and Saturday-in the 80's F- flip flop weather - and I was in heaven!! It's much colder and raining now but finally things are blooming and budding and the seasonal birds are appearing :)
Almost forgot to share March's calendar spreads so here they are:
And since I didn't show this page earlier I will link it to T Stands For Tuesday and Try It On Tuesday (Recycle Something):
I covered my page with two gel plate deli paper prints then glued down the recycled teacup and sentiment which came from a calendar from last year, then I just added a strip of paper lace across the top.
My next project is a mixed media journal page meant for the Simon Wednesday Challenge ( Add Some Texture), Wen's Simply Neutrals Tuesday, and Art Journal Journey (Recycle and Collage);
Sunday April 22 is a very important day to note. It is EARTH DAY. We only have one earth and it is each of our duties to care for it in any and every way we are able. This is my journal page (made with recycled magazine clippings and a velvet leaf) to commemorate this day:
Last I have a watercolor journal page (detail photo at the top of the post):
I began by stamping the face image (Jane Davenport) with a very light ink (Seashells Sandal by Ranger) so I could then go over it with a black Pitt pen and add some details. I also doodled the flowers, then watercolored with my Peerless paint cards. More details were added to her hair and eyes with a white gel pen. I also used a watercolor crayon in ochre and a sparkly gold pen to add more highlights to the hair. I finished by applying a light wash of blue around then stamped the sentiment (from a Dina Wakley stamp set) using Versafine Onyx Black ink.
Joining the Simon Monday Challenge (Let's Doodle), and Paint Party Friday whose talented roster of watercolor artists that link up have inspired me to play with this medium again. Even though I'm really not so good at it, I will give it a go on occasion. Thanks Paint Party Friday peeps!
Thanks so much for your visits. I'll be around to see you too!

Its a wonder we're not all sick.. Almost 80F today... 65F tomorrow.. This past weekend was freezing temps... bbrr.. Happy happy T day! Hugs! deb
ReplyDeleteAwesome art projects and pages Linda. I love the calendar pages and the wonderful one with the recycled tea cup, thank you for adding this page to the TioT's theme and for all your support. The lady you painted is beautiful.
ReplyDeleteHappy T day wishes.

All beautiful work Linda! And your entry at Simply Neutral Tuesdays really caught my eye~ Great layered pages, paper and texture. And yes that (stenciled) paint looks very cool! Thanks for sharing your artful expressions with us~ karen o
ReplyDeleteA lot of art today. I love your journal. It is beautiful.
ReplyDeleteEarth Day, I had not heard of it until I joined the T-Gang. I totally endorse that as the Earth is so precious and we are making a mess of it.
Your recycled collage is great. It's amazing what you can do with little scraps. i never throw anything away and have a huge scrap box which is divided into different colours.
I like that quote about the creative process. So true.
Happy T-Day,
Lisca
It's been cold and rainy here, but today we have sunshine and a predicted high of 77. Such strange weather!
ReplyDeleteI like your teacup page. I think I'll put a lemon slice in my next cuppa. It's been years since I did that. :) Happy T Tuesday
A wonderful selection of arty pages Linda!
ReplyDeleteAlison xx
Yes I see what you mean, a Jane Davenport face. In a different style, but well done! Thank you for your post on my blog.
ReplyDelete🤗 Paula
Looks like you had a busy and happy month of March. Love the neutral bird and the quote. Use your wings. I also like the way your painted the eye on the girlie. Such a pensive expression. And that cup of tea looks inviting. I think I'll be off to get a cuppa. Happy T Day
ReplyDeleteI like the way you do your journal, Linda, with minimal daily(?) notes and a lovely full page layout facing. I'm new to daily art journaling this year and am still trying to find a way that works for me. This looks more manageable than my current practice. Plus I like the idea of full page artwork. Yours are all lovely!
ReplyDeleteGreat neutrals page. I love all the layers and that you created it primarily with scraps!
Happy T-day and Happy Earth Day! Hugs, Eileen
What wonderful and beautiful art! That brown shimmer really is lovely...
ReplyDeleteYour journal pages are wonderful! I love seeing daily journaling and I wish that I could do something like that. It would be a great way to record the little things in life that I forget. Thank you for sharing these. And your water color page is lovely!
ReplyDeleteHappy Tea Day,
Kate
Lucky you. We had temps. in the 50's which was a nice treat. But this week's rain has been crazy. Loving the views of your calendar journal. They are beautiful Linda. I like how you draw in your calendar too.:) Hope it was a great T day, I am pretty behind right now. Hugs-Erika
ReplyDeleteI used to play with my calendar at school like you - now I have time only to write every day. I've saved all my calendars, sometimes it's fun to read what happened years ago (I can't remember things).
ReplyDeleteI'm sewing again, now long sleeve t shirt...
Hi Linda, I think my comment disappeared -maybe you will get two! Thanks for the reminder about drinking tea mindfully. I like your collage with its recycled papers lace snippet and bird. You certainly keep busy creating. The copper shimmer looks great.
ReplyDeleteHugs,

Love your calendar spreads! Makes me want to have a go again at my art diary, but I'm scrambling for time as it is so I know I won't be able to keep it up. I keep it in the back of my head though. Thanks for reminding me of earth day. Your watercolor journal page is very pretty. She looks like the spring-fairy :-)
ReplyDeleteLovely pieces today Linda my favourite is the Ireland journal page.
ReplyDeleteHappy PPF
MUCH LOVE...
Your girl with the flower in her hair is so gorgeous, Linda. And your calendar pages are awesome. I agree that we should be more proactive in taking care of the earth. I heard that disposable diapers take decades to disintegrate in landfills. Or maybe it was centuries. Can't remember. I only know the mess of using cloth diapers was unpleasant, but at least it didn't add to the earth's enormous garbage pile. Neither of my babies had disposable diapers, but my granddaughter did.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous, she is such a beauty , love her, she feels like a magical spirit and the lush flower in her hair is awesome! Wonderful art, the tea time is so lovely! and super-beautiful earth quote! Wishing you a sweet day! happy PPf!
