Feelin HOT, HOT, HOT!

Oh my- it's been so hot - too hot for even me! And unfortunately though there were many rain/storm threats and warnings they did not relieve our area- they all went above and below us 😞. Seems like this heat wave has been all over the US and even across the pond in Europe as well. Hope you're all finding ways to stay cool.

Again we've been quite busy continuing to help our son and DIL with their new home. And now I'm beginning to make favors for the baby shower which is in just a few weeks. Exciting times for sure😁! But it also means that blogging and participating in my favorite challenges and link ups will be sporadic.

Outside of doing my index card challenge I've had little time for art journaling. I did manage to squeeze in the first lesson of 8 from the free Collage Fodder online classes. They only ran for a limited time. I wanted to try this one so badly so here it is:

I really loved the idea of making a peace catcher and putting the wishes out in the breeze. I purposely chose soft, muted colors (which kinda remind me of the mountains and southwest colors though I've never been). I'd love to make a few more in the future. I made a nice little video of it hanging and blowing in the breeze on one of our trees in the back yard but it just wouldn't upload here. I did share it on IG.

Before I bombard you with my index card art I'll stop to say hello to the wonderful T Stands For Tuesday peeps. I've missed everyone and will be happy to catch up again! Here's my ticket:

Cold water with lemon and a frittata are my go to's when it's hot and humid. Often I just sauté some of whatever fresh vegetables I may have on hand for the base. For this one I sauteed mushrooms with a bit of olive oil, garlic, herbs de Provence, salt and pepper. I whisked two eggs and put that over the mushrooms cooking until the eggs were set. I added torn pieces from a slice of vegan smoked gouda cheese-yum!

And now for the ICAD catch up...only one more week after these!
Here are the last ones from my series with a vintage theme using mostly Tim Holtz and ARTchix Studio imagery:

  ICAD 46

And here was my next little series (Series #6) using a common theme and supplies. For these I began them all with Dina Wakley paints then stamped with black ink using a variety of my background stamps before adding collage and sentiments:

I'm happy to join Rain's Thursday Art and Dinner date later this week. Wishing you a good and cool week ahead.🤗

  3. It has been hot, hasn't it? It sounds like you've been finding ways to stay cool though, as cool as is possible at least. Your frittata looks yummy, and I am loving your ICADS. Especially all the colors. It sounds like you are excited for the new house and the new grandchild and everything going on in your sons life. And I can't blame you for that either. Stay cool, and have a great T day and week ahead. Hugs-Erika

  5. Hi Linda, we didn't have much of a heatwave where I am, it was reasonably hot for two days before the rain started lol. I wished it had been a bit longer. Love your peace catcher, this was probably my favourite lesson, that and the Julie Hamilton one. And I love your ICADS and your mini themes. My theme was cats but they are all so different they don't really look like much of a theme so I wish I had done something more like last year's colour/collage theme. Can't wait to see the shower favours! Happy T Day Elle/EOTC xx

  6. This dreadful heat and the fires that go with is happening all over the world with new records being set everywhere. Yet we still seem to lack the resolve to do what we need to do to make sure it doesn't get worse. It is as though we have signed a mutual suicide pact. I think that Al Gore was right last week when he said that we are seeing the end of civilization.

  7. It's been in the 105 to 108 F range for days, here and no rain in sight. I guess we can all share a woe over the heat, as long as we live in the northern hemisphere. I hope you are keeping cool.

I had to laugh at that peace catcher. Yours is beautiful. That was the ONE collage fodder lesson I knew I would NEVER make because I don't use a craft knife if I can help it and I don't have pinch grip, so don't sew by hand. Yours is even nicer than the one made by the instructor.

Nice that you have been making baby shower gifts. I look forward to seeing them soon. I bet you are excited to be a grandmother and I bet your mother is excited to be a great grandmother, too.

I love all those ICADs. I noticed the ticket on 51 (grin). These last ICADs are all beautiful. Nice to see TH dolls I don't have.

Love the looks of that frittata. Nice vegan dish for sure. I would gladly join you.

Thanks for sharing your ICADs, your peace catcher, your frittata, and your water with lemon with us for T this Tuesday, dear Linda.

The peace catcher is my favorite art thing you've showed. I'd love to make one too. Could you give us the link to the video please?
