Wow- Sunday will be Valentine's Day, and our son will be 33 years old! Where does the time go? IF we don't get completely snowed in again we plan on having him and our DIL over to celebrate.
In my last post I mentioned the snowstorm we were in the midst of. Well, before it ended it dumped a whopping 27 inches on us!!!
our back yard
I could have cried. Hubby got another day off because so many roads and even parts of highways were impassable! And once people started shoveling out their cars they made masses of snow piles partly in the streets that resembled huge pyramids so there was hardly any parking(thankfully we have a parking pad in back for both our cars)!! It gets better.... the piles of snow were finally taken away- and proper plowing was done- just this past Saturday night-and only because we were getting MORE SNOW Sunday😖 We got another 3 1/2 inches by Sunday afternoon. Oh joy. And snow is expected again Tuesday, Thursday and perhaps this coming Sunday again! I don't think I'm living in Alaska, or am I???
OK, so in the meantime I'm continuing to cook, bake, and play in my art room. First up my ticket to
T Stands For Tuesday:
I made the delicious Molasses Muffin recipe that came from our lovely hostess
Elizabeth for the T parties. This is one of hubby's favorites! I put the batter in a 7" x 11" pan rather than muffin tins. I'm sure you can find the recipe Elizabeth shared on her blog:) Cheers!
I've been playing around with grid style pages in my art journal lately. The grid idea was inspired by an IGTV video by
Megan Whisner Quinlan who LOVES Dina Wakley products as much as I do😁. And it's great way to keep some white space on a page as well.
Here is how my first grid started:
and here is my completed page:
And here is another- this one is meant for
Art Journal Journey with the theme of "heavy metal":
Here's a detail pic I took to try and show the Dina Wakley metallic paint "Penny" that I used to do some mark making:
I'll also join in at Paint Party Friday at the end of the week.
Up next is a card meant for Try It On Tuesday (Falling in Love), and the Simon Says Wednesday Challenge (Love is in the Air):
Products: Large white note card; turquoise, white card stock; wide satin ribbon (Michaels); felt heart (Martha Stewart); paper flower (Recollections); heart button (Dress It Up); Spellbinders Shapeabilities "Floral Doily Motifs" die; Spellbinders M-Bossabilities "Elite" Embossing Folder.
Fingers crossed for me please that we don't get much more snow🙏
Happy Valentine's Day my friends💖

The same weather is here in MA ~ We just got snow cleared and more is suppose to arrive tomorrow (Tuesday) ~ Just when we are all thinking of Spring ~
ReplyDeleteYour artwork is gorgeous again ~ love how your grid started for 'Love this Life' ~ and the end results are beautiful ~
Be Cozy, safe and warm ~

You sure got a lot of snow Linda. We got the same storms, but not quite so much as the storms moved out to sea. I know, we have more tomorrow and later this week too. AUGH! Beautiful art for both Art Journal Journey and Try It On Tuesday. Thanks so much for joining us at both challenges. I'll keep my fingers crossed all these storms fizzle before than they can drop too much snow on either of our homes. Have a great T day. Hugs-Erika
ReplyDeleteLovely art! I really like your Dina Wakely pages.
ReplyDeleteThat snow storm hit us but we definitely didn't as much as you did. I am interested to see how much we get this week.
Your molasses muffin sounds yummy!
Happy Tea Day,
Kate
These designs are really so detailed, lovely! Stay warm and well!!
ReplyDeleteYupp. Hubby stays home today due to the snow. Took him ages to reach someone at work to ask for a day off cause only one made it.
ReplyDeleteReally like 1977/78!!! Hope it stops now! -10C.
Love your pages (and life), and your card, ohhhh...! Happy T- and Valentines day!
Wonderful art again! Love the journal pages, and thanks so much for linking to AJJ, much appreciated. The lovely heart card is a great entry for TIOT, too. We have had masses of snow here and ice rain here, I haven't seen so much snow for years! Happy T Day, stay safe and well! Hugs, Valerie
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful work of art I love everyone and your imagination!
ReplyDeleteBut you have a lot of snow, with me there is chaos of snow and frost everywhere, only with me by the sea there is nothing.
You baked great!
I wish you all the best and take care of the weather, hug Elke
That really is a lot of snow, our son lives in Kent and they have had quite a bit in the last two days which is unusual, thankfully we don't get any in Southern Spain as I hate it.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful art pages, I struggle with my journals , I'm making a photo journal for our sons of old photos, it's taking much longer than I thought.
Happy T Day, Keep Safe

Your layering of collages is a very effective technique. I especially like your sketches.
ReplyDeletebe safe... mae at maefood.blogspot.com
Wow, that's a lot of snow! Northern Europe (Holland and the UK that I know of) are also covered in a lot of snow. They haven't seen that much snow in a generation. As we live so far south (New Mexico sort of climate) we don't get much snow. (But sometimes it does snow though)
ReplyDeleteYou have your own double parking space. I was under the impression that all american houses had (double) garages....
The molasses cake looks lovely. I had my eye on that when Elizabeth gave the recipe, but there is no way I can get hold of molasses. It's too expensive to have it shipped from across the pond.
Your art journal page is great, as is the 'love is in the air' card.
Happy T-Day,
Hugs,
Lisca
Oh, dear! Your snow looks like a Winter Wonderland! We're actually having a snow prediction here, and I'm thinking that -if we get it- it won't be a measurable amount. Your muffin "cake" looks tasty :) I like the grid backgrounds. Nice! Happy T Tuesday
ReplyDeleteWow, that's a lot of snow! We've had snow flurries the last couple of days but they don't last long and nothing settled. Hope you are staying warm and cosy 😁. Loving the photo of you both on your mug and happy birthday to your son too! Beautiful art pages as always! Wishing you a very Happy T Day! Hugs, Jo x
ReplyDelete... Thanks so much for joining in the fun at Try it on Tuesday too! Hugs, Jo x
DeleteWe also got snow. Lots of snow, but nothing like yours. However, we are in the deep freeze and the prediction is we will NOT be above freezing until February 23rd at the earliest.
ReplyDeleteYou always make the most beautiful art. I'm truly impressed with your journal pages. I especially LOVE the grids. Your heart card is wonderful, too. Thanks for sharing these.
So glad your husband likes the muffin mix. I need to make it myself one of these days (grin). LOVE, love, LOVE that mug. Thanks for the wonderful journal spread for Valerie's theme at Art Journal Journey, and thanks for joining us for T this Tuesday with your mug of coffee and molasses square.
ReplyDeleteI bet you're counting down the days until the first day of spring. I did when we lived in NJ. I hope you get some warmer and drier weather soon.
I love the grid pages, especially that the format almost guarantees white space (my nemisis). I checked out some of Megan Whisner Quinlan's IG photos too. Thank you for inspiring me again!
Happy T-day! Hugs, Eileen
I have said it before and I am saying it again. I am so GLAD I no longer live in snow country. I remember those days of waking up and just wanting to cry due to so much snow. I am glad you turned to art and baking. That Molasses cake looks so moist and good. Your art is beautiful. Have a great day today.
ReplyDeleteTerrific pages! I love the grid idea ~ I'll have to watch the video. I can't believe you have that much snow! WOW ~ a new kind of lockdown. I hope you get to celebrate your son's birthday. Oh and a fun Valentine too! ~ Stay warm and enjoy the week ~
ReplyDeleteGreat journal pages. We've had a bit of snow today, I think more is due tomorrow. Enjoy your week.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful card and pages. Thank you for joining us at Try it on Tuesday.
ReplyDeleteOh my! I hope you don't get much more snow! It already looks like too much! (it does look pretty though!!!) I think cold weather makes us want to bake more - I keep forgetting to take photos! I love your Dina pages - I bought more paint sprays the other day! The Valentine card is truly fabulous - love those colours. Thank you for joining us at Try It On Tuesday! Belated Happy T day, Chrisx
ReplyDeleteOh so hope you get to celebrate with your son for his birthday ~ sweet birthday card ~ you are so creative!

Wow, so much lovely art on your page today. I would be hard pressed to choose a favourite so I will just say I enjoyed the two journal pages very much.
ReplyDeleteThe snow pictures dominated your post for me - WOW, that is a lot of snow. I cannot believe someone comes and takes it away when it is piled up at the edges - still I can see the reason why with so much as that. Mind Boggling.
Hugs, Neet xx
Oh dear that is a lot of snow, we just have very heavy frosts at the moment. Just love your two journal pages. That's a lovely leaf on the top one.
ReplyDeleteLovely cards Linda! The snow must have gone to your area and missed us in Toronto wow. Your tea looks delicious and happy birthday to your son!
ReplyDeleteHappy PPF and have a great weekend, stay safe and well! Hugs, Valerie
ReplyDeleteYou're so creative Linda :) I love your pieces. Oh the snow...I remember that from my last place and I do NOT miss it...we get some, but not nearly as much. I remember those days when I felt like I could cry with all that impending shoveling!!
ReplyDeleteWishing you a happy, warm and cozy weekend ~ great artwork always ~

Got a lot more creative things then I have, we're fighting cold in Idaho.
ReplyDeleteCoffee is on and stay safe
yum to the cake... beautiful collage work as usual. Boy, lots of snow... it's 0 degrees here and we've had snow for days but little accumulation. (colorado)
ReplyDeleteLove your grid pages
ReplyDeletethat´s a LOT of snow! The northern part of Sweden had something like that but in my part we had "just enough" to feel good about it.
ReplyDeleteCool! I like the grid patterns you painted. I also love what seems to be a VERY long oak leaf. :)
Take care!
WOW! Lots of snow, the photos look fabulous, but yes, it must be very inconvenient, so I hope you don't get too much more.
ReplyDeleteLove the grid journal pages, very effective and the Valentine card you shared with us at Try it on Tuesday is lovely,
Avril xx
Yummy colors, light pink/green etc.
ReplyDeleteWe have a lot of snow too and it's cold but right now SUNNY! Longer days are here too, yippee!
Wishing you a week filled with love, serenity and creativity ~ Xox
