How is everyone? I missed doing a post for last week cuz hubby had some extra time off d/t snow storms, and the national holiday for Martin Luther King Day so we just took advantage of some extra time together.
Oh, and we woke up this past Saturday at 4:30AM to find a water main break on our street!! We were without water until late that night and are now on orders to thoroughly boil all water before using-ugh! Hubby actually took a day off today (Mon.) at the last minute because we were getting hit with some dangerous snow squalls and another heavy snowfall right when he should have been leaving for his 45 minute commute!
I just took these a few min. ago even though they look identical to the snow photos I shared in my last two posts! It just keeps piling up. Enough already😠! I am trying to dismiss the winter by using lots of bright and bold colors in my art 😉
We did get to have Todd and Kyra over on the 14th for Todd's birthday dinner in between the storms:
We got him a custom mug with a silly photo of he and Kyra and on the other side of it I had printed "Remember to always have fun together". He doesn't like ANY hot drinks so I filled the mug with his favorite Goldfish snack😀. We also got him a set of custom coasters with a photo collage of him, his groomsmen and father from the wedding day. That and one of his fave dinners- German meatballs over noodles, warm bread, salad, and a dark chocolate cake. I'd say we did good. Cheers to the T Stands For Tuesday gang!
Art Play: I actually have two pages of art yet to post here that are listed in a small notebook! Not always easy to keep up with what is posted here and what I post on Instagram or when. This page I'll share with Try It On Tuesday (theme is Oh So Cute) because I think this darling Dina Wakley birdie fits the bill:)
Still enjoying starting a page with a grid of a few colors and playing with more unusual color combinations. Here I used Dina Wakley paints in Sand, Ocean, Eggplant, and Evergreen.
Here is another temporary mandala I created playing with the fussy cut leaves I made from the Darkroom Door small stencil- Ferns:
I used Dina Wakley Gloss Sprays through the stencils. These will be used on cards and journal pages.
A simple collage done on a burlap page. I'm determined to finish the handful of pages left to complete this journal (so I can get a new one of course:):)
And one last page for today. This one is for Art Journal Journey with the theme of "Heavy Metal", and the Simon Says Monday Challenge (Anything But a Card)::
Lots of Dina Wakley products. I used metallic Gloss Sprays in Gilt and Medieval for the background. Other- Dina Wakley Collage Collective, Just Words Collage papers, Good Idea Stamp set, Mantras stencil. Kraft card stock, Versafine Onyx Black ink.
Also joining in at Paint Party Friday. Well that's all folks! Take care and have a wonderful week.
" Whether the weather be cold, or whether the weather be hot; whether the weather be fine, or the weather be not, we'll weather the weather whatever the weather, whether we like it or not." Unknown
We are having the same type of winter snow. It is snowing now and still piling up. UGH! I'm totally with you that it is time to stop. It sounds like you had a fun dinner for your son's birthday. The meal sounds yummy. I have never had German meatballs, but lots of Swedish ones. And nice art Linda. Thanks for sharing pieces for both Try It On Tuesday and also for Art Journal Journey. Hope you have a great (sunny) T day. Hugs-Erika
ReplyDeletemeatballs and chocolate cake — sounds like a real winner! You are dedicated to do all that cooking.

Wow some very well done creations! Love the ferns, the bird, page, all the Dina Wakely stuff, and the super birthday pictures. Stay warm and safe!!!
ReplyDeleteI have a question Linda. Who is Todd's father? OK, that was silly. Yes, I think he looks like a younger version of your husband. They could be brothers, too. I love the mug you got him. Thanks for sharing his gift, his meal, and your wine with us for T this Tuesday.
ReplyDeleteYour art is amazing. I love the layers and sewing you did on the page with the birds. I'm also struck with this awesome mandala you created. And of course, I totally love the awesome glitter you shared that goes so perfectly with Valerie's theme at Art Journal Journey, dear friend.
Seems like the snow just went over toyour place, here it´s finally gone!
ReplyDeleteFunny idea with the mug :-)
And I love your pages, esp Little Italy :-)
Have a happy T-day.
So many places are having deep snow falls this winter.
ReplyDeleteA lovely celebration with your son, our son had his birthday this week but being in San Francisco we just had a facetime call together.
Love your artwork especially the ferns.
Stay safe and warm

ReplyDeleteIt's so good that you could have Todd for his birthday! In spite of all that horrible weather. I saw on the news how it is affecting certain regions in the States. Awful. I can totally understand you are fed up.
ReplyDeleteYour floral mandala is beautiful! And I love that collage on burlap. I have noticed the lady's coat. The design is amazing. Really timeless, don't you think?
Happy T-Day,
Hugs,
Lisca

ReplyDeleteHappy PPF, have a great weekend, stay safe. Hope the weather is better! Hugs, Valerie
ReplyDeleteI love your art Linda, especially the ferns, that's so lovely! :) Eegad...a broken water main, not good. What a pain in the butt to have to boil your water...we went through that last summer when we had our new well drilled, it's not fun! Oh I would love a mug full of Goldfish lol...I can easily get addicted to those... :)
ReplyDeleteFantastic use of all those products!! Happy too that you got to have a birthday celebration between storms. Our storms came fast and locked us down a few days, then left as quickly as they came.
ReplyDeleteLovely art this week, glad you survived the storms though.
ReplyDeleteWarm Wishes. Your collages are gorgeous
ReplyDeleteHappy PPF

Here in North Idaho, we finely got some snow on ground. Although harder winters in past. Love your collages. The bird and little Italy caught my eye.
