This and That

As autumn starts creeping in (even though it still feels like summer here:) I start thinking about autumn colors, and autumn foods. Like these muffins I was making this morning:

Molasses muffins with delicious spices -  ginger, cloves and cinnamon. Hubby loves these! And I got this quick and easy recipe from Bleubeard and Elizabeth at Altered Book Lover which she shared on her blog during one of our T Stands For Tuesday gatherings. Thank you Elizabeth!! Oh, the house smelled so good and as you can see I all but finished my coffee before the muffins even got into the oven:)

Soon I will be making pear bread and pear tarts too. And speaking of pears, I made this tag for Tag Tuesday (pears and apples), Moo Mania and More! (use a stamp), and the Simon Monday Challenge (monochromatic):

The pear is from a napkin. Other products- manila tag; Distress Vintage Photo ink; postage rubber stamp; fabric tape; tiny buttons.

I have a card for the Simon Wednesday Challenge ( Bling It On):

Really difficult to get the metallic shine on the patterned cardstocks (and the black is just a backdrop not part of the card) so here's a detail shot:

ha- I guess this would work for the Simon Monday Challenge also:)

Products:ivory note card and envie (The Philadelphia Group); clear stamp-Forever After set, and heavy vellum (Simon Says Stamp); Archival Jet Black ink; patterned cardstocks (DCWV the Natural Mat Stack); heart punch (McGill); Stickles glitter glue (Ranger).

And this journal page I will share with Art Journal Journey (Polka dots/ Stripes/Plaids or Patterns):

Tim Holtz Typography, Symphony tissue papers, Paper Dolls, Snarky Small Talk stickers, washi tape, Linen stencil. Dina Wakley: paints- Lime, Lapis, Cheddar, Mini Favorites stencil, Media Journal.

A note: I just found out that tinypic.com (which I used to resize badges to correct sizing for my blog) will no longer host their website free for anyone to use so I just lost most of my sidebar badges and links:(:(:(. I am NOT tech savvy, so anyone have any suggestions?

I will be taking a short break again beginning at the end of the week. Be well, be happy, be creative!

  1. Your muffins sound yummy! Fall is my favorite season, mainly because of the baking and the smells. There is nothing better than apples, cinnamon and pumpkin flavored baked goods.
Your card is lovely with that floral metallic background. And I love the background on your journal page.
    Happy Tea Day,
    Kate

  6. I should have sent this message first. Your pear tag is amazing. I had NO idea the pear was a napkin. It is stunning and gorgeous.

That anniversary card is gorgeous and the shine really shows up well in the detail shot.

Your journal page is amazing. I love that abstract design you have cultivated. I am in awe of how you create these wonderful images like that, and I admit, this design works perfectly for Erika's theme at Art Journal Journey.

I bet your muffins came out perfect. They sound so autumnal, too. I am not much of a baker, so I bet yours turned out great. I remember mine turned out OK, and they did make the house smell good, too. Thanks for sharing your art, your muffins in progress, and your coffee with us for T this Tuesday, Linda. And thanks for using my recipe, too.

    1. thanks so much for your note on the badges Elizabeth. Unfortunately I was not so organized as to keep a file of badges so I lost what I had . My son has helped me do as you suggested for the badges but he had me resize in tinypic before going to layout. I'm going to try your way next time:)

I smiled at your birthday card. It's a beautiful card and I love the title 'Bling it on'.
Your pear tag and art journal page are both lovely.
Commiserations on losing your badges. I have no idea how to get them back. I only hope mine are still there...
    Happy T-Day,

  12. The pear tag, your card, and journal page are so pretty. Though I hate to see Summer go, those muffins are perfect to take the sting away. Bet they smell heavenly.

As to your badges and links, you can upload badge images to your blog using the layout option. Save the badge as an image to your computer. Select Add A Gadget and select scroll down to Image. Upload the image. There's usually a tick box to select to size the image to your sidebar. Then you can move the gadget where you want to display it. You can preview how it looks. Don't forget to save it. Is that what you meant?

  16. Love your pear tag, and so time appropriate that you are making pear bread and tarts. Sounds good, as I love pears! You asked on my blog if that was an iPad that I was watching the tutorial on? Yes it is. I love my iPad, except for some reason I can not comment on anyone's blog on my iPad. I have to get on my laptop to do it. Also, I have to post my blog from my laptop. Up until about a year or so ago, I had a blogger app and could post from my iPad. But for all other things, love my iPad! Totally worth it.
    Happy T Day, Linda!

  17. The muffins sound yummy. I love your pear tag and the anniversary card. I've also found that you can capture the shimmer better with an angled shot. I'm not much of a photographer and just learn as I go.

I laughed at your snarky page for AJJ.

    Happy T-day! Eileen xx

  19. When it turns fall I tend to start sewing...it's funny because I hadn't realized until this year that it was my pattern to do that. Baking is good in the fall as well...so many good flavors!
    Happy T day!
