Well, we finally got our first day of snow, sleet, freezing rain, and then rain on Saturday! Thankfully it was only about 2 inches and once it all changed to rain it melted away:) But it is now very cold again-brrrr.
This journal page is in my Dina Wakley Media Journal and meant for Art Journal Journey with the theme of "Something New". Here I have used more of my new Tim Holtz Botanical Tissue Paper in the background. The vintage image is from ARTchix Studio. There is a new challenge theme over at Try It On Tuesday which is "White Space" or "Colourful Grunge" and so i will join in there also.
I am keeping warm with hot morning coffee and then herbal tea in the afternoon. This pic I took last Tuesday at my desktop computer in the morning while visiting the gang at T Stands For Tuesday:
My usual coffee in a Vera Bradley cup with matching lid:)
On Sunday I had my Mom, son and fiancée Kyra over for dinner to celebrate hubby's 61st birthday which was on the 17th:
I think he looks darned good for his age! I made lasagne roll ups, salad, rolls and chocolate cake. And we had water and Cabernet Sauvignon wine with dinner but I forgot about taking pics until the cake came out.
This card is meant for the Simon Wednesday Challenge (Use A Stencil):
Products: Altenew stamp sets- Label Love, Painted Flowers; Altenew Evening Gray ink; Tim Holtz Plaid Stencil; Archival inks- Pink Peony, Rose Madder, Jet Black, Leaf Green, Vivid Chartreuse. Distress ink- Worn Lipstick; Neenah #110 Solar White cardstock, Moonshine Sequins- Simon Says Stamp.
And I have another journal page to celebrate today's (Monday) US National Holiday- Martin Luther King Jr. Day. Martin Luther King Jr. was a Christian minister who became leader of the Civil Rights Movement, and promoted it with peace until his assassination in 1968.
Lots of Tim Holtz products on this page- stamps, inks, washi tapes, Paper Dolls, Small Talk Stickers. This was done on a kraft page in the Dina Wakley Media Journal.
Joining in at Paint Party Friday as usual also.
That's it for me this week. Time to get going on some Valentine cards:) Happy week to you!
"Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that." Martin Luther King Jr.
Good evening Linda, I love your cardinal on the top of your page-did you paint it? Great art today-my favorite is the first one for something new. Your dinner menu for your husband's birthday sounds delicious and perfect. Yes he does look good for being in his 60s(smiles) Happy T hugs Kathy
ReplyDeletethank you Kathy. Yes, I did paint the cardinal- acrylics:)
DeleteOh and I wanted to mention I love your cup with lid very much! beautiful colors, I have a couple Vera Bradley purses
ReplyDeleteFabulous art Linda. I love the blue on your first page. It feel cold and wintery. Very pretty work. So is your MLK page. And happy belated birthday to your husband. Sounds like you had a fun night celebrating. And I agree, I would never have guessed from your photos he is 61. Happy T day. hugs-Erika
ReplyDeleteApparently everything looks better with that TH tissue paper. The one you used in the first entry is amazing. That's a gorgeous ARTchix image, too. It's a beautiful entry and perfect for Jo's theme at Art Journal Journey.
ReplyDeleteHad I not known better, I would have guessed your husband to be 45 to 50 years old. I agree. He looks wonderful and I'd like to wish him a happy belated birthday, too.
I was especially pleased with the MLK entry. It is adorable and you did him justice, too.
I have a couple of those mugs that have lids, but they aren't Vera Bradley, at least I somehow doubt they are. Yours is beautiful. Thanks for sharing your coffee in that awesome mug, your art, and your husband's birthday with us for T this Tuesday.
Wonderful art Linda, I especially love the Martin Luther King page. Your hubby looks great, glad you enjoyed celebrating his birthday. Love your lidded mug, too, so bright and beautiful. Happy T Day, hugs, Valerie
ReplyDeleteYou manage to make icky winter even beautiful! Ice on the roofs here.
ReplyDeleteOh, what a beautiful mug!
Belated Happy Birthday from here, ohhh, lasagna!
Great page in honour. What a waste King was killed.
A happy T-day to you, hugs.
I guess you're keeping your hubby young! :)
ReplyDeleteOur attitude (one important point) in life makes a difference how we get older...
Happy week!
It never ceases to amaze me how you move from one style to another, seemingly effortlessly. ALL your art is fabulous and all for different reasons. I love your journal pages, both equally stunning - but I also love your pretty little stencil card. Amazing art!
ReplyDeleteI would have to agree about your hubby, too - he certainly does NOT look anywhere near his age - wow! He looks at least 20 years younger... and he has a wonderful smile.
Thank you for sharing your art with us at Try it on Tuesday, Linda.
Cath x
I remember seeing a photo of your hubby on his 60th birthday and thinking you had made a mistake. He looks very much younger!
ReplyDeleteI love your MLK page, and also the quote of his at the bottom.
Happy T-Day,
Hugs,
Lisca

DeleteLovely pages!!! Happy 2020!
ReplyDeleteOur weekend snow was supposed to change over to rain, but it didn't. Followed by cold which it is. 🥶 I like the colors on your winter page. At least your coffee cup, and your husband's smile are both sunny. Your MLK journal page is very uplifting. Happy T DAy.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous page, Linda. I'm guessing the new thing (for AJJ) is your first day of snow. At least it didn't stick around too long. I wonder if you even had to shovel or waited for Mother Nature to do the clean-up.
ReplyDeleteBefore I even read your comment, I thought, he can't be 61! So a very Happy Birthday to your hubby!
I love your MLK page too! You're a wonderful artist. That page is a bit like some of Vicky Papaioannou's (less cutesy) pages.
Happy T-day! Eileen xx
You're lucky your snow melted. :-) Your art journal pages are beautiful. Both convey their subjects perfectly. Your tea mug is gorgeous. I love that design pattern on it and the lid. I think I recall birthday photos from last year, where your husband and son were in one, and they looked very similar to each other. (Or am I dreaming?) Your birthday card artwork is lovely too. Happy T-Day!
ReplyDeleteAnother lovely birthday card and wonderful journal page for Martin Luther King ~ a beauty ^_^

Two lovely pages and a great card.
ReplyDeleteHappy belated Birthday to Hubby Linda, always a good way to share one with family. Love your Blue & white journal page, those colours always remind me of fine china, beautiful. I'm not sure if my little part of the UK will get any snow this year, the temperature changes makes me think not.
ReplyDeleteA nice tribute to Martin Luther Day and words to match the dove of peace really stands out amongst your vintage distressed background.
Have a super weekend & happy PPF Tracey xx
Happy PPF and hve a great weekend, hugs, Valerie

Your Martin Luther King Jr journal page looks so vintage, I love those colours! Oh gosh, I have Valentine's on the brain...I have to figure out dessert and treats!
