This and That and Earth Day

How is everyone?  We had a pretty nice weekend although the nights and early mornings are still quite chilly. It'll be about two weeks until I can plant the more tender annuals even though I want to NOW 😛

I did spend time making  cards as I need to resupply birthday and anniversary cards. And here is the full pic of the above card. I will join the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge (Bright, Cheerful Colors) and the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge (Clean and Simple):

I have been decorating my envelopes quite simply using the (too?) many washi tapes I have. These are Recollections. For the card I used: Mandy's Flowers stamp and die set, Stitched banners dies, Doodlebug Tiny Hearts Shapes Sprinkles, Bo Bunny Early Bird papers, Stickles glitter glue, Versafine Onyx Black ink- all from the Simon Says Stamp Shop. Other- alcohol markers, white, light blue card stock, white card and envelope set- Recollections.

For T Stands For Tuesday :

Love this recipe from Ina Garten for chicken parmesan with salad greens and a lemon vinaigrette. The lemon flavors are so fresh tasting and go so well with the chicken. Cheers! And please do stop by to wish our host Elizabeth a very happy b"Earth"day which she will be celebrating on Thursday. Happy birthday to you !!🎂🎉🥳🎜🎝🎜🥰

Two journal pages:

The background was a mop up of Dina Wakley Marine paint that was leftover from another project, and the same goes for the stencil that had leftover Fuschia Gloss Spray on it. The inky flowers was  something I did on a scrap piece of copy paper for practice using India ink and Amsterdam Reflex Rose paint. I recently found it in my scrap paper pile and decided it wasn't so bad so I tore it out and glued it to the page. The quote is from  Dina Wakley Collage tissue.

And for Art Journal Journey with the theme of "Inspired by"- chosen by Eileen who sadly is no longer with us. The inspiration for this page comes from the beautiful handmade paper Elizabeth had sent me, along with the floral postage Erika sent me:

I'm also happy to Join Paint Party Friday with my journal pages!

And, in honor of Earth Day I want to share the local organization our darling daughter-in-love Kyra has founded. We couldn't be more proud of her for all the volunteer time and hard work she whole heartedly puts into this cause which means so much to her!

And a photo and note Kyra had posted on Instagram:

Please, let's every one of us do our part to keep our parks AND planet clean! We will be celebrating the Lehigh Valley Trash Pact one year birthday celebration and park clean up with Kyra at Sand Island Park this coming Saturday- April 24th from 11 AM - 5PM. Everyone is welcome!!

  1. Loved seeing your art this week. The journal pages are so different in styles but I like each one of them.
    And your meal looks delicious!

  2. You've had another productive art week Linda. Your cards are great, but I especially like both of your journal pages. I wouldn't think red and green would work so well and not say Christmas. And I love all the layering you did for the page for AJJ. The handmade paper looks great on the burlap. That's a great photo of your daughter-in-law too. That is a great project she has started. And finally your dinner looks yummy. Lemon is such a great flavoring for so many things. I've never used a lemon vinaigrette though. It sounds great. Have a super T day and hope your weather stays wonderful. Hugs-Erika

  3. Lemon makes everything taste good! That chicken must be wonderful, and I like the choice of salad to go with it.

  4. Good idea with the washi tapes - I doubt our German ones will take a journey overseas, though. But I can put them inside, right?
    Chicken parmesan sounds YUM!
Wish I could go with your first journal page.
The second I can. And "daughter-in-love" is so cute of a saying.
Yes, trash is a big problem here, also. I´ll never understand this.
Good quote. Have a happy T-day.

  6. Wow, Linda. You have outdone yourself this week. I love that card and the matching envelope. I absolutely adore your washi tapes.

Both of your journal pages are beautiful, but I felt SO honored that you used that hmp I made last year, along with Erika's postage. I am sure Eileen would have been pleased, too. Thank you for sharing this beauty with us at Art Journal Journey honoring Eileen's theme.

I'm SO happy for Kyra. What an amazing cause, too. She and you probably don't know this, but there are two parks in my neighborhood, and I was instrumental in revamping one of them. I worked with the designer of the play area. I explained I wanted circles. No hard lines anywhere. He obliged and my idea became a reality. Not only did I lead a campaign to get new playground equipment, I also got three picnic tables and three grills, as well as two concrete benches with a concrete table in between that had a chess board set into the concrete. Much of it was paid for by our association working in the park. It's called "in kind" working to pay for the equipment. I am delighted that Kyra is also an advocate for parks. It's a wonderful effort on her part. So pleased to read this.

And finally, your meal and drink (wine?) look wonderful. Even the salad looks yummy. Thanks for the bEARTHday wishes, too, dear. Thank you for sharing your art, Kyra's project, and your meal and wine with us for T this Tuesday, dear friend.

  9. Beautiful journal pages! Like Erika I wanted to comment on the color combination not looking like Christmas. Very lovely. I like the burlap one too. Is that a picture of someone in your family? (You as a child?)
Well cone Kyra! That is such a good initiative!

  11. Well first of all congratulations to your daughter-in-love (what a beautiful girl she is, such a lovely happy smile) for her part in clearing up the mess left behind by those who do not care. Today I saw a mattress dumped by the side of the road on the way home from the doctors. How can people do things like that?
Love your journal page with all its natural materials creating the colour for it and the lovely happy photo you have chosen to show.
Lovely card and I do like the idea with the washi on the envelope. Do you mind if I copy that as I too have far too much and rarely use it apart from bits torn off. At this rate the rolls will last a hundred years.
    Hugs, Neet xx
