True Love
Well what a CRAZY weather week we had last week in the northeast US!! One day I was sitting outside in the sun reading, wearing flip flops and thoroughly enjoying the record 63 F. The next morning we woke up to this:
I just had to be dreaming....but, nope. It was coming down and looking like a blizzard! What????
We ended up with 6 inches on the ground and it got bitterly cold and windy... thus the second part of my February calendar pages:
The theme at Moo Mania and More is "music" and the new theme this week at the Simon Monday Challenge Blog is "use your favorite tool". So I created this postcard for both challenges:
Patterned music paper was glued to a watercolor card. I then used printed deli paper from my stash of Gel Printing Plate prints (my favorite tool-love the plate!!) and glued a piece on the left. I then added the vintage image(Retro Café Art) and sentiment (Paper Whimsy) after sponging the edges with another favorite tool- Tim Holtz Blending Tool. Another bit of printed deli paper was added at the bottom of the image along with some fabric lace. Edges were sponged using the blending tool and Distress Vintage Photo ink. I embellished the lace and flowers on the image with Stickles glitter glue - you have to take my word for it as it doesn't show at all:(
For T Stands For Tuesday - and Valentine's Day, I am sharing not only a beverage, but a celebration, as it happens to be our son's birthday too! We just had some family over for dinner on Sunday.
As usual I made a meatloaf dinner along with a dark chocolate cake (with coffee in it) and a dark chocolate icing, the same request pretty much every year:) Here he is with his girlfriend Kyra whom we also adore. 29 years old-where DOES the time go...
here he was at 9 months old:
I know how much he loves when I share baby photos:):) Happy birthday Todd!
For Art Journal Journey (Fifty Shades of Red theme all month!) and for Paint Party Friday I made this page in my watercolor journal. I used a wet on wet technique along with Peerless watercolors for the background. Vintage image from my stash along with patterned paper scraps. Felt heart is Martha Stewart. I added a heart button, then completed the page with a rub on.
Wishing those of you who celebrate it- a Happy Valentine's Day!

You have a good looking son and I can really see your husband in his eyes. Isn't it great how we each always have our favorite birthday meals? And I'm with you and this CRAZY weather. I can't wait until April and we are more or less safe from this winter weather. Eeks. I also want to tell you how much I am loving all your beautiful Valentine art. And your calendar. Hope you have a wonderful Valentine's day tomorrow. Hugs-Erika
ReplyDeleteOh gosh - so much snow Linda! Hope no more snow will appear here as they promised warmer temperatures now after such a long freezing period - still snow here and ice.
ReplyDeleteHappy belated Birthday to your lovely son Todd!
Time really flies - my girl gets 16 next week.

I wanted to get here sooner, but time got in the way. I love the photos you shared of the birthday boy and his favorite cake.
ReplyDeleteI've been so worried about Corrine and Erika I completely overlooked the fact that you were right in the thick of that mess, too. It was 74 F on Sunday and Monday it was in the 40s F. No snow, but the sudden change in temps and wind speed made it feel colder than it was. No wonder everyone is sick.
Your lovely Valentine inspired journal page, your beautiful music inspired art, and your February calendar are stunning to look at. I'm totally impressed.
Once again, thank you beyond belief for the beautiful art pieces you sent me, including the lovely postcard and the transparencies. They are incredible. And thanks for sharing your art and your son's birthday cake with coffee in it for T this Tuesday.
Your son is a handsome chap, and was a lovely baby, too. You have made lots of beautiful art again, too. Our weather was crazy here - cold, windy, snowy, and now it is starting to move up again. Happy T Day, hugs, Valerie
ReplyDeleteYou have really a crazy weather, I am glad, we have no blizzards here in Austria. Your calender looks beautiful and your music-page too. Yes, time goes by, children become adults, faster than we can think. Your red watercolor page warms up the heart!
ReplyDeleteHappy Valentine's Day and Happy T Day!

Happy Valentine's T-Day,
Lisca
It was such weird, but mostly wintery weather last week, wasn't it? And the snow or more accurately ice still lingers around.
ReplyDeleteI love the looks of your dark chocolate cake (recipe?) and am sure I'd actually prefer a bite to the look :)
Happy Valentine's Day to you ~ What an array of wonderful creations and Happy Birthday to your son ~ and love the baby photo too ~ Time is 'a fleeting' ~

ReplyDeleteHi Linda! WOW! Happy birthday to your handsome son! What a wonderful celebration!!! And I absolutely LOVE your gorgeous creation for this month's theme! Yes, our weather was so funky - one day it's unseasonably warm, the next we are in the midst of a blizzard. And this weekend we are supposed to have 60 degree weather again. (and I hope you and your husband get to visit Peddler's Village!!)
ReplyDeleteWell, your February calendar pages really fit in with the weather :-) Wow, it looks beautiful but I guess it takes some getting used to after sitting in the sun the day before ... I can't wait for spring to come! That chocolate cake looks yummy!

ReplyDeleteOh I totally get the "holy cow" snow situation. Here in Nanaimo, BC, Canada almost never gets inundated with snow but for some reason (cough, cough GLOBAL WARMING) we got a bushel of snow that is just now melting. It's taken weeks of sun to finally get the piles to melt! I love your calendar page, it looks fabulous. Thanks for your lovely comment on my blog and the compliments on my painting, I sure enjoyed painting the eggs. Have a lovely upcoming weekend.
ReplyDeleteHello dear Linda - oh my goodness, and here was I complaining about a bit of rain! 6 inches is incredible!! At least there are some pleasant breaks in between the snow. Got to say, that dear red building is a wonderful sight amongst all the white :D)
ReplyDeleteLove your family pics - isn't it great to be able to put a homemade meal on the table and still have it heartily tucked into. The meatloaf sounds so beaut (note to self... about time for another one ;D))... and, wow, that chocolate cake.
Your gorgeous journal pages Linda! I love them, those branches against the sky... and the words.
Luxurious red - bursting with true love... I can feel it!
Cheerio for now, Happy PPF :D) 💗

It was my birthday too! I don't celebrate birthdays anymore. It was different when waiting for license for this or that...now I have them all! :)
ReplyDeleteWe had sunny and dry yesterday and this morning it was snowing, now almost melted. Spring is coming!
Looks very cold I like your vintage piece too
ReplyDeleteWhat gorgeous journal pages! Awesome inspiration. Hugs, Autumn
ReplyDeleteHi Linda. A wonderful array of art work. I am always fascinated to hear how many pieces went into making your cards. The birthday dinner sounds wonderful! We missed those storms here in Chicago area and this last few days have been in the 60's with sun. Thank you so much for the stamping info you left on my blog. I will check to see what kind of ink pads I have. Most of my stamps are very fine lined.
ReplyDeleteLovely journal pages! We never lost our snow. The banks are ove my head n our driveway... though finally starting t melt a bit!
ReplyDeleteI do so enjoy seeing what you create.
ReplyDeleteYou are so productive Linda!
AND in the kitchen too whipping up special things.
Hope Todd is still celebrating.
They sure are a cute couple ♥!
Looks like you got the snow I was hoping for.
I put away my snowmen and snowflakes because it looks like winter may be over...but March can be fickle so we shall see.

The weather is the same here in Europe. We have snow in the morning and hot sun melting it away in the afternoon. Hope you had a great celebration! :)
