I'm spending more time enjoying the outdoors and less time in my art room. However, I still try to do a little something each day. And this is a journal page I completed:
Joining Paint Party Friday of course, along with Try It On Tuesday (theme is " I can hear music"), and Moo Mania (theme is "masculine" - do you see that masculine face on the upper left? :)
Speaking of being outdoors-looky what appeared the other day:
the first Oriental poppy this season!!! I just can't resist taking at least one photo every year and walking to my neighbor's yard to admire these blooms each day they are here. And if that wasn't enough... I have been lamenting not having any hummingbirds despite the two feeders that have been up for weeks. The past four years we had a pair or two 3 weeks ago already (yes, I keep track:) As I was walking back to my yard I thought I was seeing things-but no it was there in front of me. A hummingbird!!! Oh joy!!! And since then the female and male ruby throat have been coming (one at a time so there must be a nest nearby) 4 times a day at least but as they are pretty quick and skittish too so no photos-yet:)
So, these two simple gifts from nature filled my heart with so much joy I could burst!
Do you ever feel this way? Or can you recall something that takes you right back to that place in your heart? Don't you wish you could bottle it up and pass some along to someone who needs it? I'd love to hear about it. Wishing you a special moment of joy today.

Yes, I know what you mean about bottling things up in your heart to keep them forever! Thanks for sharing your lovely page with us at TIOT and MM&M, much appreciated. Love the poppy too, they are such wonderful flowers. Happy PPF, hugs, Valerie
ReplyDeleteI love your journal page! I tried to grow poppies but I think ducks must like them too as I don't think rabbits are supposed to! So pleased you have humming birds again - definitely a 'keep in the bottle 'moment! So pleased you joined us at Try It On Tuesday! Chrisx
ReplyDeleteFirst of all I love the poppy. I tried planting them but they never took in my yard, so alas, I have given up. And the journal page is beautiful. Music is the perfect theme for you. I also like how you snuck in the masculine face, which I didn't notice at first. It is just the right darkness but not too bold for your page. Happy PPF. Hugs-Erika
ReplyDeleteYour he♥rt creation is oh so lovely.
ReplyDeleteThere is something about hearts that always speaks to me.
Your background is very rich and the way the man is peeking through is magical too.
That is a splendid photo of that glorious Poppy.
I enjoy watching the frills quiver in the center of those silk like petals.
Nature is an endless source of joy isn't it.
Happy June dear Linda oxo
Oh Linda, I'm in love with your art and not here from any challenge. Your lovely piece filled MY heart with joy, just as the poppies and hummingbirds did yours. This is not only a colorful post, but one that speaks from the heart.

What a lovely journal page and quote and a stunning poppy! You are so lucky to be able to see hummingbirds in your garden - That's something that is very much on my wish list - they're so cute! Enjoy your great weather - we did have a few days of amazingly good weather but it's been replaced by wet, damp, miserable weather again. Hey Ho.
ReplyDeleteA wonderful journal page
ReplyDeleteThank you for joining us at MOO MANIA & MORE
Such a fabulous journal page Linda, and I absolutely love the quote you've used.

Perfect quote for your pretty journal page. Happy to hear your "hummers" are back. We miss them in FL. Happy PPF
ReplyDeleteBeautiful page with great quote. Thank you for sharing with us at TioT.
ReplyDeleteHappy PPF🌞
Linda, your journal page is excellent and I love that quote. Your poppy photo should be painted if you can squeeze in the time to do it.
ReplyDeleteI used to keep track of the arrival of the hummingbirds but no longer do. I just know they arrive in April. I didn't put up a feeder this year because I get such a ton of ants to contend with.
lovely colours and I adore that poppy and how delightful to have hummingbirds
ReplyDeleteLovely mixed media and a stunning poppy!
ReplyDeleteoooh, that poppy is as bright and gorgeous as your journal page! I do need to get going on a regular basis again - it's been toooooo long! xoxo
ReplyDeleteWonderful sentiment and a lovely page! I love a layered look :)
ReplyDeleteSuch a beautiful piece Linda ♥ I'm spend way more time outside now too and the art and house work are paying for it :( Love the Poppy!!! Can you believe I was paying so much attention to my veggie garden this week that I missed my first Poppy bloom :( Hopefully I'll catch the next one! I'm not seeing the humming birds as much either as the darn squirrels have decided that drinking there sugar water is as good as stealing all of the other birds seeds. We won't even get me started on those squirrels :(!!!!!! HAve Grand weekend!!!
ReplyDeleteI believe outdoor activities are very important to regenerating our creative juices. I wonder if that gorgeous red poppy was your inspiration for that bold and beautiful red heart in your art journal page. Blessings, my friend!
ReplyDeleteLovely journalpage with a great quote! I know what you mean with feeling so much joy from very simple things. I always get that feeling when we have a bright blue sky, when the sun is shining after a long period of greyness, and just this week seeing a whole bunch of poppies growing on our mountain of sand that is still laying there after all the renovating in our new house :-)
ReplyDeleteWe have lots of humming birds. Awesome. Very nice work. Have great days ahead Linda.😊

ReplyDeleteOh that poppy is brilliant. And you collage so full of love
ReplyDeleteI'm Happy you dropped by my blog today
much love...
Such a beautiful piece. I love the sentiment.
ReplyDeleteThis is stunning. Great art page.
ReplyDeleteI know that feeling, for me the scent of some flowers on a hot summer day, send me back to my childhood. It's a magnificent feeling, and the ability to see and feel such moments you described, make lige worth living.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful quote and page.
ReplyDeleteYup, me, too, am spending much more time outside than in front of the computer or at my desk drawing - oh well - it is just too nice outside.
Love your new journal page ...it's just glorious..as is the poppy! Yes I do find joy that makes my heart want to burst and it's mostly simple pleasures that do it too!! I wish for everyone to enjoy that sensation...but not everyone looks at the world as we do! Blooming peonies... from childhood gave me that feeling too. Seeing a squirrel run along the fence... so many lovely spring feelings that just fill me up! Great post, great question!
ReplyDeleteHugs Giggles
What a lovely piece of art. The poppy is gorgeous too. Hummingbirds and flowers also fill me with joy.
ReplyDeleteYes I do wish I could bottle it up. So happy you are feeling the joy. Have a wonderful weekend. Oh love your art.
ReplyDeleteLovely artwork! And I love the poppy...they are favourites of mine too! Watching nature...very inspiring and uplifting!
ReplyDeleteA fabulous journal page, those words are so moving and thought provoking.

p.s. Thank you for sharing it with us at TioT's.
I adore those oriental poppies...I know exactly what you mean about keeping moments..I love the scent of wildflowers ...it reminds me of being a child I try and use it in my work..recapturing it over and over.
ReplyDeleteLucky you, I can't be in our backyard because men are working (I could work out there but been lazy), men coming and going - I'll enjoy summer later when the renovation is done.
ReplyDeleteHave a good week ahead!
Beautiful artwork here! <3
ReplyDeleteLove the poppy. My neighbor has the entire road lined with poppies. It is a beautiful sight. I believe you have had your hummingbird scout which means many more will follow.
