Hello lovelies! Thanks so much for your visits along with the birthday wishes for hubby. I had to postpone the family dinner until just this past Sunday because of the bad weather the week before. And that's OK because it just extended the celebrating! I'll share just a few pics of our fun, and for Elizabeth and all the T ladies at T Stands For Tuesday, please note the beverages:):
These are all the cards he received! I wanted to have a card shower for Bill so I sent out an email asking some friends and family to send a card or two and they didn't disappoint-thank you!! So much fun seeing his reaction each time he got a card to open (some even had "special" coupons in them for "older adult" products) he he! Of course, he eventually realized what I had done :) I plan on making a journal cover like the one Susi so cleverly made -see it here- to hold all the cards.
We toasted with champagne, had baked ziti, salad and rolls, and homemade chocolate cake for dessert. See that award behind him? Here it is up close:
Signed by I. P. Nightly :):) . I did it on my computer using this site. Check it out! There are lots of great ideas and templates- free.
Aren't hubby and our son mirror images of each other? I swear Todd does have some of my DNA somewhere-lol!
Now on to the art! First up I have a tag meant for several challenges - the Simon Monday Challenge ( Love is in the Air); the Simon Wednesday Challenge (Have a Heart); and Tag Tuesday (theme is Heart-heart-heart):
Products: manila tag, Stickles Diamond Glitter Glue (Ranger); Tim Holtz Worn Wallpaper, Clippings Stickers; rose image (Retro Café Art); felt heart (JoAnn Stores); Distress Oxide ink (Frayed Burlap); Gold German Dresden border, silk ribbon (ARTchix Studio); tiny buttons (Gary Burlin & Co.).
I'll share this journal collage page with Try It On Tuesday for the theme of "Time Flies". This was also a quick collage I did for an Instagram challenge (the Use It Up Fill It Up in 15 min. one I've been participating in this month:
The focal image is a postcard someone had sent me quite awhile ago and I was
This was yet another 15 Min. challenge collage in another art journal:
I do believe I can get away with linking these to Art Journal Journey for the challenge of "Geometric Shapes" hosted this month by Alison. and I will share the second one with Moo Mania and More (theme is "Squares") with the heart square I used.
And as usual I will play along at Paint Party Friday this week! Looking forward to seeing what everyone has been up to. Another few days of bitter snow and cold are arriving which means I will only venture out if I really HAVE to. Hopefully that means more time in the art room:) Have a safe, warm and creative week all!

Wow Linda, your son and husband do look like twins. That is an exciting celebration for him, and it should go on for more than a day. Your call for cards was really answered! Hi Linda, Congratulations to your hubby on his birthday and WOW your Son does really look like his Dad.
ReplyDeleteLove the artwork today and I'm in awe of your 15 minute journaling, it takes me forever! Love the page you liked to TioT, thanks for sharing.

Card shower. What a fun birthday idea. Your hubby doesn't look 60 in fact, he and your son look more like twins. Your tag would make a darling Valentine. If you love a postcard or some other bit of ephemera so much, why not photocopy it and use the copy in your art? That way, you still have the original, but can use it many times over.Happy T Day!
ReplyDeleteI have made copies of favorites over the years, but really, I have so much to use as it is:)
DeleteWhat a clever idea for a birthday to have everyone send a card or two. LOVE the award.
ReplyDeleteYes those two men could be twins!!
I adore your heart tag, and can see why you were preserving the girl image LOL!
Stay safe and warm
Happy T-day
The card request sounds like a fun idea, and the senior coupons and certificate were a cute touch lol Being older than he is, I can say 60 ain't so bad ;)
ReplyDeleteThat cake looks delicious! Happy T Tuesday!
happy birthday to your sweetheart! what a wonderful time you had! your valentine is gorgeous as is all your art. i love the little girl with the open watch face. thanks for a lovely post and thanks for joining the challenge at tag tuesday! xo
ReplyDeleteWow! What a lot of cards! He looks very pleased in the photo. Don't Todd and Bill look alike! Really like two peas in a pod.
ReplyDeleteYour hubby doesn't look like he is 60.
I like your senior certificate. It is an idea I will try to remember that when my hubby turns 75 in two years time.
I have now learnt that one cannot do comments on an ipad, so I apologise for all those occasions that I appear not to have commented (I always do, eventually) and from now on I will use my desk top computer even if it means being a day late as we are always away on Tuesdays.
Happy T-Day

Wow, it looks like you celebrated in style and I bet it was fun seeing him open all those cards, such fun 😁. Your rose tag is so pretty and I love your journal so collage piece, the vintage style is perfect! Thanks so much for joining us at Try it on Tuesday and wishing you a Happy T Day! J 😊 x
ReplyDeleteWhat fun, Linda. I guess the delay also allowed more time for cards to arrive. I loved Susi's card storage book too and definitely want to make one.
ReplyDeleteAt first glance, I thought the photo of your hubby and son was a double exposure.
That's a very pretty tag. I love all the little embellishments. Great page for "Time Flies." I would have hoarded that special postcard too. It's very unique. So now you get to use it AND keep it. Perfect solution.
Great page for "Geometric Shapes," etc. too. How many challenges does that make in a single post? I lost track ;-)
Happy T-day! Hugs, Eileen
Gorgeous art! I can't believe you made that collage in 15 minutes!! So many lovely pieces. And that image you were hoarding is perfect. I can see why you held onto it.
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful party for your hubby. And so many cards.
Happy Tea Day,
Kate
Hi Linda you dod such beautiful work. I am also your newest follower, hope you will visit and follow me too. You son is the spitting image of his dad, happy birthday to your hubby. Wow love the tag you made and your journal page is awesome, hope you have a wonderful day Linda xx
ReplyDeleteYes, your son and husband look alike. Our son looks just like dad. My sister looks just like my dad in the face, and I look just like and sound like my mom. It is funny how the genes spread to different one. :) Wonderful art projects! I always intend to take part in the challenges, but just once in a while actually do it! Happy T Day!
ReplyDeleteWhat an amazing card shower. Your hubby and your son look very similiar. But your hubby don't look like a 60 year old man, more than a 50 year old man. I think you nurse him well. ;) Your Tag and the Collages are so nice and well designed. Wonderful Artworks!
ReplyDeleteDear Greetings and all the best for your hubby.
Sabine
Thank you for joining T yesterday. I'm so pleased you showed up, even though I was unavailable. Please check my Wednesday post I still haven't written to see where I have been. Thanks, too, for your contribution to Art Journal Journey. I'll be back soon to visit and see what I have missed.
