I spent two beach vacays practically back to back.
The first was to Fenwick Island, DE specifically to help friends do a thorough Spring cleaning of their home. The least I can do for all the times we stay there. It worked out quite well. We were clean machines, but also enjoyed a nice dinner out and meals that we shared cooking. The weather was mostly cold, windy and raining which was good because then we weren't looking out and lamenting being inside:) I was only home a few days and then geared up for 4 days in Cape May, NJ with hubby. I'll share pics of that in my next few posts.
OK,
This awesome stamp set along with an extra gift of photo cards from Darkroom Door owner Rachel (how DID she know this would be the perfect photochip set for me??)! I won it thru this blog that I had only recently started following because I love Autumn's style of card making. I am dying to create with these but just haven't had the time yet.
Did get my Mother's Day card done for this coming Sunday:
Products: large white notecard; Peony Bouquet stamp set (Altenew); sentiment (Papertrey Ink Think Big Favorites #2); inks for the large flowers- Distress Worn Lipstick and Archival Pink Peony; for the smaller flowers- Distress Salty Ocean and Archival Turquoise, for the leaves- Distress Mowed Lawn and Archival Leaf green; Versafine Onyx Black ink; pearls (Queen and Co.).
Linking to the Simon Wednesday Challenge (Hint of Pink).
Another reason I have not gotten much art done since coming home is because-our son got a new job!!! It is definitely a step up career wise, position wise and income wise. And because he will be working from home which is our home until his new apartment is ready (this has been dragging on since March!) I have had to clear off my art desk/table so he can set up the top of the line computer equipment they sent him. Talk about scrambling to put things in other places! Most all my paints, etc. etc. are in the drawers below this desk and as this will be his temporary office I'm not sure how I'll be able to manage. We celebrated over the weekend with dinner, cake and yes, champagne!
hubby, me in top photo and my mom in bottom one, Todd and gf Kyra.
Joining my friends over at Elizabeth's T Stands For Tuesday. So looking forward to catching up with you all.
One final bit of art. Another journal page from the online Quirky Birds class I've taken by Tamara LaPorte. It began like this:
I did the art on 140lb. watercolor paper then glued it into the journal.
Amen!
Linking to Art Journal Journey for the theme of elegance and grunge hosted by Gill, and to Paint Party Friday. Also linking to Moo Mania with the theme of "head gears". Thank you dear Susi! Excited to be catching up with everyone again!

Oh Linda, so much to love in your post...I adore the beach, even on cold rainy days. The ocean and waves seem to have a different 'personality' every day. I could watch them all day, and would probably not have been much help cleaning! ;) Such a beautiful Mother's Day card...which reminds me that I need to get my act together and make a card also! And your quirky bird is fabulous! Love that phrase...I may have to steal that! happy T day!

I had been wondering where you went to ... :-) oh, I love that quirky bird of yours! So cute and the quote is perfect. And your mother's day card is elegant and pretty. She'll love it!
ReplyDeleteThank you for a lovely post and visit on my site.
ReplyDeleteHappy weekend ❤
Fab art, sounds like a good time with holidays and a stash win!
ReplyDeleteLovely quirky bird. I like the peony stamp very much! Hope you get your studio space back very soon...you must be full of ideas and bursting to get at them!
ReplyDeleteSuch a beautiful Mother's Day card and I do envy you for two beach vacations back to back - wow! But, really, your bird - that is something else, I love it, especially as I also happen to love grunge. Now I definitely have to look at that course, too.
ReplyDeleteP.s. In case you are anything like me (and might not hop back to the comment you left on my site, here is my reply to you :): Hi Linda, so glad you popped over and that you like my three girls. Tam's classes are really affordable and at a sale - they're a steal. I got this course and the Magical Mythical Makings when I signed up for Lifebook 2017. I am totally behind on Life Book, but that's o.k. as you can download the content. My first Willowing course was Fabulous Faces and I may also have Ultimate Whimsy and some free content. As you can tell I love to learn and art lots of things. Now I got to check out the Quirky Birds.
Linda, thanks for droopy by my blog. I have the same book on faux encaustic you mention. I have read it and deemed most of the techniques too much work - LOL - so I am mostly just playing around with various recipes of gel mediums. I have another one I've done that I will post in the next few weeks - I think I"m getting there. I am amazed at your gorgeous Mothers' Day card! I thought maybe the flowers were a printed background. Fab! And your quirky little bird really tickled me. I love the saying too! And the rich background you made is fantastic. Good luck to your son and I hope his apartment is ready soon so you can get your art area back to normal. In the meantime, I've always felt that dining room tables are overrated as eating areas and much better suited to art work. :)
ReplyDeleteWhat wonderful art, so much fun! I'm glad you were able to help your friend and congrats to your son on his new job.
ReplyDeleteHello Linda! First of all I want ot say that your blog header is so pretty! I just love it. Congrats on winning the giveaway - that's always so much fun. I'm glad for your son's new job - and hope you'll find a way to make some art while displaced from your desk. Thanks for sharing you quirky bird. I have wondered if I wanted to try that class. Hope you have a great week!
ReplyDeleteyour Bird class seem fun, wish there was something like that where I live :)
ReplyDeleteWow, you have been a busy bee. Congrats on your son's job. Glad you are enjoying those stamps and can't wait to see what you come up with. Love seeing your projects in the works. Hugs, Autumn
