I have several autumn inspired projects to share along with cards and stamping to celebrate "STAMPtember". First up is the first part of my September calendar spread (haven't finished the second part yet):
I'll share details about the art in another post.
Both Simon Says challenge blogs are celebrating "STAMPtember" all month long so I have two cards to share with the Simon Monday Challenge (Stamp It) and the Simon Wednesday Challenge (Anything Goes). Also sharing the postcard with Try It On Tuesday (theme is "stitch it"):
Supplies: white notecard and envie; white cardstock;stamps and dies: Label Love, Layered Cupcake- Altenew; Inks: Pink Peony, Turquoise, Buttercup, Leaf Green- Archival, Onyx Black- Versafine; Diamond Stickles glitter glue.
Postcard:
Face ( Jane davenport) stamped on 4" x 6" 90 lb. watercolor paper using Jet Black Staz on ink. Sponge Distress inks (Squeezed Lemonade, Spiced Marmalade, Fired Brick, Peeled Paint) onto oak leaf stamps (Magenta). Spritz lightly with water and stamp around the face. Add hair strands with a fine Micron pen. Paint in features and background with Peerless watercolors. Add white highlights in eyes and lips with a white gel pen. Stamp sentiment (Stampendous) using the Jet Black ink. Sew around the edges.
I remember a recent blog post by Giggles where she posed a ? on whether you are a prankster or have been the recipient of pranks and whether or not you like it. Well, I said yes. And just the other day hubby pranked me . This is how it began:
I left this tiny dish on the kitchen counter with a bit of wine in it because the few fruit flies there were driving me nuts! I figured this should work since they enjoy getting into my glass of wine now and then. Left a note for hubby as I went to bed before he got home from a late night of work.
This is what I found the next morning when I got up to make my coffee:
Ha Ha!!!! Didn't scare me one bit as there was so little wine in that dish that there was no way a mouse could drown in it. And I figure if that mouse would have had some he'd be stumbling about on the counter. Nice try Bill;) And so this is my beverage (and mouse) to share with T Stands for Tuesday. Hope it gives you all a laugh as it did me:) PS this did not work to catch those pesky bugs!
And for Art Journal Journey hosted this month by the lovely Yvonne (the theme she has chosen is "Colour in My World"); Creative Artiste Mixed Media Challenge 30; and Paint Party Friday I have this journal page:
In case you didn't notice I also have made it my new blog banner:)
I started the page like this:
The page was gessoed first then I glued down pieces of peach mulberry paper and hand stamped tissue paper. I then painted over it with Masters Touch Olive Green and Americana Desert Turquoise. A bit of color was removed in places using a baby wipe with the Tim Holtz Woodgrain stencil. Blue Pan Pastel was applied randomly thru the Tim Holtz Honeycomb stencil. I set it with a light spray of Workable Fixative by Krylon. Trees Filmstrip (Paperbag Studios) was stamped onto an acetate panel with Staz On Jet Black ink and glued to pg. once completely dry. I glued down a strip of gel plate printed deli paper and washi tapes (Recollections). Stamped circle(Bokeh Dots- Ellen Hutson) then glued a Tim Holtz Ideaology Quote Chip and butterfly to complete the page.
Well, that's it this time around. Are you getting ready for the next season- be it fall in the Northern hemisphere , or spring in the Southern hemisphere? Very soon it'll be time for me to get out the cool weather clothes . But I'll be squeezing in another beach vacay before the flip flops get stored away :)
Thanks for popping in. I'll be around to visit you too!

Just gorgeous artwork here, Linda
ReplyDeleteThank you for joining us at TRY IT ON TUESDAY
Lovely art again today, I especially love the wonderful postcard, and thanks so much for linking to TIOT, much appreciated. Love the mouse prank, that's a good one! Those fruit flies are a nuisance, aren't they?
ReplyDeleteHave a happy T Day, hugs, Valerie
Your September calendar puts mine to shame, and I really LOVE the boat on the water. It's a great way to welcome September.
ReplyDeleteI really love your AJJ entry. I can see why you would choose it as this month's blog banner. It's got great color and fabulous composition.
Loved the postcard with the stitching, too. I can see you are taking full advantage of your reclaimed craft room.
Laughed and laughed at the mouse. I'd hate to be around him on April Fool's Day. That was hilarious. I thought that was really thinking outside the T box this week, too. Thanks for sharing your beautiful art, your darling calendar, and your wine (with mouse) in a bowl with us for T this Tuesday. BTW, I heard or maybe read beer gets rid of those pesky fruit flies.
Super calendar page spread and your cards are so beautiful as well- specially the Jane Davenport girl face card is so lovely!
ReplyDeleteThe Journal page with those vibrant colors is wonderful ! Thank you for joining Art Journal Journey dear Linda and I am happy to see you at Try It On Tuesday as well!
Bill is not just a handsome guy - he seems to have very good humour ...lol! So nice!!!
Happy T-Day!
Happy September!

ReplyDeleteIt was real fun the fly trap incident, I think you will both have a good laugh. about it in future.
Your new header looks great and of course I love the fabulous journal page that you have added to Art Journal Journey, they are colours that make me feel happy.
It is a beautiful post card that you shared with us at TioT's as well.
Happy T day wishes Linda.
Yvonne xx
Ok that prank would have freaked me out. At least for about 30 seconds. But I am loving the new header and all the art. We've had cool days too up here, but the sun is still wonderfully warm. :) Hope all is well. hugs-Erika
ReplyDeleteI'll be dragged kicking and screaming into Fall. I'm not ready to give up Summer. It went by too fast. The birthday card is very pretty. I like how you stamped the leaves as hair. The figure looks like the Earth Mother/Goddess. i think I might have jumped to see the mouse in the dish. Maybe the fruitflies prefer a nice white wine. (-; Nice blog banner and I enjoyed the artistic process. Happy T Day
ReplyDeletegood morning, loving your art work, and I am loving the bits of fall that showing up here too. we were almost 100 degrees f yesterday but today and the rest of the week we will be in the 70s-loving that and I am noticing the shorter days too
ReplyDeleteyou had me laughing at the prank-that is just sooo funny hahaha
Happy T Day Kathy
Ha! What a cute "prank"! LOL! Loving the cupcake card and the journal art. It's nice and colourful!
ReplyDeleteawesome artwork, you never seem to Need a break:) good for us:)
ReplyDeleteand an easy recipe for the fruitflies: give some water into a glass (half full or less) + a bit (teaspoon) of Sirup (whichever you have, i take elderberry flower Sirup) + a spritz of vinegar + (very important) a drop or two of dish liquid - that makes the flies sink in, as it takes away the surface Tension. works super! just don´t take too much of the dishwashing detergent, they might not like the smell. good luck!
happy t-day, linda
thank you Johanna -I'm giving it a try:)
DeleteLove the new banner and all the stamping. You make me want to grab some stamps myself!
ReplyDeleteWhat amazing art pieces you have created 😁. I love the peacefulness of your September calender pages with the lovely sky and sail boat, then there is your pretty postcard lady with the beautiful fall leaves in her hair and one of my favourite quotes, and your great new colourful header too - perfect! So funny about the mouse although I may have squeaked a little when I first saw it ...lol 😉. Wishing you a Happy T Day! J 😊
