Life Is Good

So how is life treating everyone? Well, I hope. The photo is part of the bouquet of flowers I brought to my Mom upon her return home from France, which sadly -was a nightmare! Won't go into all the details but going to and coming from she was not provided the wheelchair service requested. Hence anxiety kicked in. She JUST made her flight leaving from Paris-but minus her carry on suitcase (which she has no recollection of what happened during her frantic search to find her gate get and get help). Only 15 min. from Newark, NJ airport and my brother, sister and Mom sat over 4 hours in a traffic standstill due to a bad accident and  a fatality. She is OK but exhausted. I immediately filed with CDG and they found her suitcase (which contained her prescription meds, some souvenirs, makeup, jewelry etc.). And now, we're working with the travel agent to see what the next step is. She has no plans on ever flying to France again-unless I take her. But she made it. She saw her family. And she's OK. Life is good.

I still managed to have some fun time in between! Hubby and I went with son and gf, and friends to Komé Restaurant for the hibachi grill experience and we had a blast! The chef was so entertaining and funny- and everything was excellent. I had enough for three meals all together-so much food!

Joining T Stands For Tuesday with my water and sake:)

For Tag Tuesday I have a mermaid tag (theme is nautical/seaside):

Stampers Anonymous seashell and fish stamps, Magenta bubbles stamp. Sentiment and collage image are from ARTchix Studio. I also used Stickles glitter glues.

I got my Simon Says Stamp August card kit and found a spot of time to at least do a bit of stamping:

Once I have another nice chunk of time I want to color and fussy cut the images and make cards with them and the stamped backgrounds:) Just found out the card kit has SOLD OUT! (sorry)

The theme at the Simon Wednesday Challenge is to "use a die and/or punch" so I made this masculine card:

Products: Lg white notecard and envelope; patterned paper (DCWV); rubber stamp greeting (Hero Arts), houndstooth stamp- on the envelope- (Papertrey  Ink); Altenew Moon Rock dye ink; stitched circles dies ( Our Daily Bread Designs); Stickles glitter glue; bronze thread; mini hole punch.

Finally, I have a journal page I literally just finished before writing up this post. And it is meant for Art Journal Journey (Art For art's Sake), and Paint Party Friday:

If you have any questions about anything regarding this page just send me a note. I didn't keep track of all that I used and am just too tired to go look it all up and type it in tonight.

We are experiencing a week of very muggy hot weather with lots of intermittent downpours and thunderstorms so that means I get more time in the art room - at least I hope:)

I will be around to visit but after next week I am taking a blogging break to enjoy some summer fun.
See you soon!

" Oh, the summer night, has a smile of light, and she sits on a sapphire throne."

  1. Your poor mom. Sounds like a travel nightmare. I am glad they found her carry on but I am sure she was a bit stressed and not quite focused. And hibachi is so much fun. I've only gone once but it was lots of fun and good food. Like yours looks like. Nice art too. You've had a busy week I think. Happy T day. Hugs-Erika

  4. I can understand your frustration at what the airline put your mother through. It's too bad they didn't give her the help she needed. At least the missing luggage was found and will hopefully be heading her way soon. I hope she had medications at home she could take.

You have made some beautiful art this week. I really like your nautical tag. It's a beauty.

I was really impressed with your journal page. Is that a TH paper doll? It's not one I've seen if it is. You certainly balanced her well. I also really like your use of white space on this, too. It's great that you shared it with us at Art Journal Journey.

We have one of those places in Wichita. They seat you around the grill and the chef puts on quite a show with his knives and cleavers. Looks like you had a similar experience. I've never had sake, so I am sure your hibachi experience was much better than mine.

Thanks for sharing your art and your hibachi and sake experience with us for T this nearly Tuesday.

  5. Beautiful art, as always. Thanks so much for making a tag for Tag Tuesday, much appreciated. Love the idea of a mermaid in a jar. Sorry to hear your Mom had such problems on the home journey, but glad she returned safely. The food at the restaurant looks great. Happy T Day, Valerie

I would love to enjoy such a fab dinner for sure! Your mermaid tag is just so pretty, completely your lovely style Linda and a very elegant male card!
The life is good page is a wowser, absolutely great and I simply love this Dina Wakley style à la Linda ! Fabulous! So happy to see this beauty linked to the "Art For Art's Sake" collection at Art Journal Journey! I wish you a happy week and hope the weather will not get too bad for you! I can tell you that I am just a fool, I am sorry to tell you that I forgot your ready made envelope yesterday as I drove to town... my gosh! I fear you sadly will get your ATC even a few days later, I am so sorry!

I really hope you don't get mad at me!

Your art projects look lovely, I smiled when I saw the mermaid in the jar.

  9. So sorry what your Mom had to go through-I have heard that this does happen allot, hope you get the refund back for not getting this service. I used to take the greyhound bus up to see my Mom in northern Indiana and I ran into seeing this problem-no help for some of the passengers that paid extra for it-sad

  10. So sorry to hear about your Mom's troubles Linda... Years ago i flew on a plane by myself at age 5 - 9 and they always took very good care of me.. I got my wings to pin on and cookies.. I got to sit in the very front of the plane and take a peek in the cockpit..lol I think my parents were very brave to send me that way.. But i spent every summer with my grandparents in Florida and i don't ever remember a hiccup..

All you artwork is just beautiful... but i especially like your journal page at the end.. such a lovely fairy.. Hugs! deb

  11. I'm sorry your mom's trip was book-ended by such stress :( I'm glad they found her carry-on. I hope you get some kind of satisfactory explanation/apology for the wheelchair mix-up.

Your food at the hibachi grill looks wonderful, and it looks like a fun experience. Happy T Tuesday

  14. Oh, your poor mom. I hope happy memories of being with her family take the sting out of the travel plans going awry. We're experiencing the same weather you're having today. Heat, humidity, and downpours. Sounds like a front coming through for the weekend. It's been so long since I've been to a Japanese restaurant, but have never tried sake. The skill the chefs have with their knives is amazing. Have a Happy T Day. Stay cool

  19. What a sad ending to your mom's wonderful trip, Linda. How can that happen - no wheelchair service that was arranged ahead and no one around to help straighten it out?! Awful! The airline owes your mom more than an apology!!

We don't have any of them here, but hubby, I, and sometimes our son, loved going to hibachi restaurants. It was always a fun show as you mentioned. And the food is always delicious.

Lovely tag, masculine birthday card and journal page of summer night.

    Happy T-day! Hugs, Eileen

  20. How traumatic for your Mom! It's a good job she was going to visit family! I hope you get some answers over the wheelchair failure! Those meals look huge and being out with family it sounds like a fun outing! I love your tag, that great masculine card and I saw the kit pic on Ig! Now...I absolutely adore this journal page and Thank you so much for taking time to link to Art Journal Journey! I love the way you have sewn the little platform for your fairy girl and that's a great way to leave white space - I am trying on occasions to leave some white space!! Belated Happy T day! Chrisx

  23. Your little mermaid looks really cute.
And the hibachi grill experience looks exciting and yummy. I have no idea what it is so I will have to google that in a minute.
I’m so sorry your mum had such a bad experience. My mum is in a wheel chair and is practically blind too. She has been using airports in the UK, Spain and Holland. There they have the yellow desk for special care and unaccompanied invalids and minors. She has never had any problems. She loves chatting to the young students who usually push the wheelchair. They take her to check in and take her through customs. The only hitch is the taxi drivers. Not all of them will take you to the yellow desk. So that needs to be arranged in advance or shove a bank note in their hands. Having said all that, we have never travelled to France...
    Happy belated T Day

  27. Your art journal page is splendidly joyful, with that color scheme, imagery and sentiment. I am so sorry to hear about your mother's stressful flight experience, but glad to hear she made it home safely. Your dinner with your family reminds me that I'll be meeting my youngest daughter's boyfriend next weekend. He sounds like a nice guy, so I pray it all goes well. Anyway, happy PPF and Blessings!

  39. Hi Linda. So sorry your mom's trip was marred - I have no idea if the airline was Air France, but I do know that when we did Europe, the flight there and back with them was the absolute worst part. Their attitude was lacking to put it nicely. Love your art pieces and the food looks good. xoxo
