Back To Cape May, and ART too!

Happy new week all, and a happy Thanksgiving Monday to all our Canadian friends!

This week I'll share a few more photos from our beach trip late September. The above photo was taken at the Cape May State Park. The trails and lakes are beautiful and many birders come here especially during specific bird migrations.

Here we are heading down one of the paths to the Cape May Point beach.

A view of the lighthouse from the beach. It was cold and windy but beautiful nonetheless .Notice the 37 in the sand? Hubby grabbed a twig and wrote that and  a note for our anniversary:)

And for T Stands For Tuesday I will share a meal I have been dying for all summer:

We had gone to nearby Townbank to visit friends one day and on our drive back along the bay we decided to stop at Harpoons On The Bay, a place we had been to before. We had a perfect view of the sun setting over the bay from our table. I decided to try their lobster roll because I was not going to leave Cape May without getting one somewhere. This was the 4th one I've had in 4 different restaurants the last few years and this was by far the best I have had- filled to the gills with lobster!! To drink I had lemon water and a glass of Merlot- but really, this roll deserved a glass of bubbly😉🥂! Cheers!

 Art time...

Each month Darkroom Door has a challenge on Instagram. We are given an inspiration/color board. We can make anything at all but do need to use some Darkroom Door products. A winner is chosen at the end of the month and receives a Darkroom Door stamp set and stencil of choice. I missed last month's so I was determined to get to the October one. I am also joining in at Art Journal Journey for the theme of Hold The Line:

 the inspiration board:

My journal page:

and most of the supplies I used:

Darkroom Door products I used are the ferns and circle stencils and the Fine Flowers stamp set.

I also made a bit of time to watch and create from some of the Willowing Lifebook 2021 free Taster Lessons. This lesson was from Susan Nethercote using watercolors titled Watercolour Winddown. This was relaxing and it was so much fun to bring out my watercolors again and play with them in an abstract form. And yes, I was inspired by my beach trip😁:

Playing over at Paint Party Friday later in the week as well. And that's it for me. Only 2 weeks and 3 days til our son's wedding and we are all getting ever more excited! Happy week all!

  2. Hurrah for having your best lobster roll! It does look very good. And the sanctuary beach does look beautiful. And a great place to walk. You must have really enjoyed yourself. And it inspired you to use such super colors to make that wonderful page. It is perfect for Chris' challenge and thanks for joining in at AJJ. Love the taster class art page too. Have a wonderful T day Linda and a good week too. Hugs-Erika

  3. WOW, Linda. So glad you shared more photos from Cape May. They are beautiful. I loved the photo of where your husband wrote the anniversary message in the sand. How romantic.

I STILL have never had lobster roll, but I'll take your word that it's the best ever. The cost of the roll would probably make me think twice, but it was a special town and a special occasion, so I could probably justify it. Thanks for sharing it and your Merlot with us for T this almost Tuesday, dear.

I was in awe of that taster entry. I haven't seen that one yet. I'm just glad we get another week, so I'm hoping to see them all before they pull the plug. THIS looks like something I might actually be able to create. No faces, etc (grin).

I also LOVED the journal page you created from the color board. Those colors go great together and you put a great effort into it, too. Thanks for sharing it with us using Chris's theme at Art Journal Journey, dear Linda.

I can tell you are counting down the days till the wedding, now.

  20. Sanctuary beach looks just like its name - I am sure it has a calming effect on anyone who walks along it.
Lobster Roll is something I have never heard of - doubt we have it over here but i can imagine it being popular over the water. I love `lobster and wonder what is in it, apart from a lot of lobster meat. Oh my mouth is watering.
Your taster lesson looks very interesting and I think I should look into these as so many of you have taken part and done some lovely work. I especially like the colours you chose to work with - my sort of colours!
That is a lovely journal page you have made, love your happiness path which is in a lovely happy colour - I always think of sunshine colours for happiness. Lovely imagery too.
    Hugs, Neet xx
