Thankful

Another busy week for me- how about you? Finished clean up of outside things and then since hubby was off Friday we decided to do some thorough cleaning and polishing of wood furniture along with the much needed cleaning of a few downstairs windows. Feels good to have gotten it all done even though I would have preferred being in the art room😁

On Sunday (thankfully AFTER dinner was done!) we lost power due to a crazy windy storm that brought down power lines and trees. Glad we keep candles and flashlights of various sizes in working order. We finally got our power back around 5AM this morning. Thankfully it wasn't a cold day and night so we didn't suffer without the heat.

Speaking of grateful, I am also so very grateful that we were able to have our son's wedding festivities last month because now again Covid 19 has reared its nasty head with a vengeance! That means restrictions are heavily increasing most everywhere and who knows if it could lead to a lockdown here😖

And that segs me into T Stands For Tuesday with two photos of the amazing food we had at the wedding  rehearsal dinner. I worked with the manager at Prime Steakhouse to choose the menu and such. We also had a private room and area. Everyone that worked there was so nice and accommodating, and everything was consistently being cleaned and sanitized. And the food- divine!! So much so that everyone ate everything served and all said how good everything was which made us happy to have chosen this place.

There was a chicken, vegetarian, and steak choice. I had the Chicken Gratella with blue cheese and a balsamic reduction along with roasted potatoes on the side. We were all served salads as well as fresh rolls, veggies, and desserts but these were the only pics I thought to take.

And this was the pasta primavera meal.
Cheers to the Tuesday gang!

At the top of my post are side by side pages I did in a junk journal gifted to me by Patty S. Here is another page I just did in the journal:

The little collage cluster on the black card was one of a handful of bits also gifted to me- by a lovely lady from across the pond I met on IG. I added some recycled dryer sheet under it and glued on the black threads that were sitting on my desk.

And here are two pages from a second junk journal gifted to me because of another lovely IG connection:

The flower was a practice painting I had done using Dina Wakley Gloss sprays.

And on this fabric page I used a scrap of handmade paper along with a clip art image. I am so thankful for the community of people I have never met in person but have connected with through blogging or social media!

Finally, a simple journal page which is meant for  Try It On Tuesday (Traditional Christmas Colors), The Simon Says Monday Blog Challenge (Happy Holidays), and Art Journal Journey (Birds):

Products: manila tag; Dina Wakley Black media Journal; large sentiment and patterned cardstock from old Basic Gray papers; washi tapes (Recollections); Tim Holtz Seasonal Chit Chat Stickers; glittery foam snowflake (Nicole); the snowman image was recycled from an old Christmas card.

Linking with Paint Party Friday as well. I'll be around to visit throughout the week. Keep well! XO

  2. Yes you are very lucky that your family could gather just before the new attack of the plague! We here in Michigan are about to shut down much more, as the number of cases is rising fast.

  4. Who would´ve thought darn "Corinna" would come back like that, you really were lucky with the wedding - and with the power, weee, never happened to me - I don´t even know where our torch is...
Oh, I love your work, especially the red flower, beautiful, happy T-day to you.

  5. Our COVID numbers rose out of sight and control before your wedding, so I was glad to read it hadn't hit your area so hard. My city is considering distance learning for all students now. Before, grades K-6 were in class and 7-12 were distance learning.

Loved your junk journal pages. I noticed you used one of Patty's temperature circles in the journal she sent you, too. Truly lovely art this week. I think your tag on the journal page is terrific. It is a great way to also share at Art Journal Journey using Wendy's theme, too.

I'm particularly enjoying someone's pasta primavera. I would have chosen that, too. Of course, I see wine and water, too. Thanks for sharing your incredible art, your wedding rehearsal dinner, and your drinks with us for T this Tuesday, dear Linda. SO glad you have made so many IG friends, too.

  6. Beautiful assortment of artwork. And I LOVE your snowman tag! Sounds like you had the same bad storm that came through here (Connecticut) Sunday night. The winds were sustained for over an hour, and sounded like a freight train, just like it did when the Tropical Storm toppled trees in my yard in August. It was very scary. I lost power a little after 8pm, but fortunately it came back on before the temperatures dropped here. Good point about the wedding: CT briefly allowed wedding venues to open, but I think they're back to shutdown, as our lockdown returns to more stringent rules. So far restaurants are still open, but reduced to 50% capacity, but maybe that will decrease / close next, too. Happy T-Day!

  7. Hello Linda. You have been busy.
Funny, but when I saw the first two pieces I immediately thought of our friend Patty. These two pages you've made are absolutely beautiful and I love the soft colours and I rather like the third piece you made too.
The pasta looks delicious, how nice to have a rehearsal dinner first.
I enjoyed every bit of this post, even the bit about cleaning windows which must be done here soon.

  8. It sounds like the wedding was timed perfectly and the food looks so delicious 😁. We have a national lockdown here too with restrictions back in place and I smiled as window cleaning was one of the things we've done recently too. Your artwork looks so beautiful, I love the fun snowman tag with the gorgeous colours and cute image - perfect 😀. Thanks so much for joining in the fun at Try it on Tuesday and sending you Happy T Day wishes! Hugs, Jo x

  10. Wow your food looks fantastic Linda. It is only breakfast time but making me hungry. Smile. We did the same during the nice Indian summer weather. I didn't get into my happy place for a week but I did get a lot of house and yard work done. And your art is amazing this week. Adore those vintage children pages. You've done some different styling this week with the tree and flower. Very nice. And last but never least, I love the santa with with bird tag page. That is perfect for both challenges. Thanks so much for joining in. We appreciated it at both TIOT and also AJJ. Hope you don't get this bitter cold tomorrow. Hugs-Erika

  11. You make me think I oughta be cleaning... but no, just not happening lol I really need to clean, though, before I get the Christmas decorations out. Nobody see any of it, but it'll make me feel better :)

I'm sorry your power was out so long :( I remember living on Cheerios for a while when our power went out once when the kids were little lol I'm glad you're re-connected. I'd've had a hard time choosing from those meals. It all looks delicious. Your snowman piece makes me smile.

    Happy T Tuesday!

  15. The rehearsal dinner sounds lovely. You did a good job organizing it all. The timing was very fortunate.

Wow, you done some beautiful pages in those junk journals. I'm confused as to how you could paint that pretty flower using spray paints. The burlap page is adorable and quaint.

Happy T-Day! Stay safe and stay well. Hugs, Eileen

  16. The food from your son's rehearsal dinner looks delicious! All things I would gladly eat. Yes, it is a good thing they had their wedding when they did.
Sounds like you accomplished a lot over the weekend. I know what you mean about rather being in the craft room. I have found that the more scarce time is, the more I enjoy it when I get a change to craft. So glad that the power came back on for you. Wind storms can certainly do a lot of damage.
Your journal pages are SO beautiful. I love the orange and black one especially. That is so wonderful that you have made a lot of friends through social media. It is nice to hear that it can be used for good.
    Happy Tea Day,
    Kate

  17. Delicious eye candy and the tag is adorable. So nice that you were able to have your son's wedding and that the rehearsal dinner was such a hit. Also a feel good feeling to clean and tidy. I organized my pantry and I feel like I also freed up space in my head! Happy T Day

  18. Yes, we always have the candles ready. In the other house (the cave house) we even have a gas lamp, as powercuts are more frequent and last longer.
What a good thing that you had the wedding when you did. Perfect timing! Those meals look very scrummy. I'm so glad it was a success.
The pages in your junk journal are lovely. I also like the Christmas tag (or is it a card?)
    Happy T-Day,
    Hugs,

  23. Your junk journal pages are absolutely wonderful, love the way everything looks as though they are meant to be together!
Lockdown here continues, for most, even though schools are still in. My son has to work with children with problems so needs close contact and it's looking as though he will only finish 4 days before Christmas, so no time to isolate and we won't be going there this Christmas!
The rehearsal meal looks great and glad that such care was taken by the restaurant. Good timing for the wedding too!
I love the happy snowman and his little friend! Perfect for AJJ and Try It On Tuesday - thank you so much for joining us! A very belated Happy T day, Chrisx

  34. Wow, lots of yummy art projects and food! Love it all. Hate that you lost power but at least it wasn't a hurricane, cannot believe this year was so active late. Love the snowman page, how you collaged him. I have never had the urge to do a fabric journal but yours looks divine! Great weekend, XOXO
