T Stands For Tribute

This week's post is my tribute to a dear blogging friend Eileen, a regular at  the T Stands For Tuesday link ups. My heart is heavy over reading last week on our Tuesday host Bleubeard and Elizabeth's blog of the sudden passing of Eileen after having gone through open heart surgery. I am no less saddened just because we never met in person and I'm sure most of you feel the same way when we lose a blog friend. I do cherish any and all of the snail mail exchanges  with all of you. Eileen was always so thoughtful with her cards, poems, and ephemera she would send. Not to mention her always supportive and uplifting comments on my blog.

This is a journal page I did last week to try and process my emotions:

Eileen was an enthusiastic student enjoying new art classes and techniques up to the very end. She was an equally enthusiastic teacher, happily willing to share her knowledge with all.

She was really excited to try out  some journal pages using the grid technique and pages I had shared in earlier posts and here is the last she posted. She shared the base of her grid along with the finished page as I had been doing:

Didn't she do a great job with it? It's beautiful!!

Eileen enjoyed a glass of chardonnay, a favorite wine of hers and often shared it at T Stands For Tuesday.

And so one last toast to you Eileen, and cheers to the T Stands For Tuesday peeps.

With heartfelt sympathy and prayers to Eileen's husband Chris, to all of Eileen's family and friends near and far, those who have been touched by her presence in person or in cyberspace. 🙏

And here is another grid style journal page I recently made and  will share with Art Journal Journey (A Single Flower), and Paint Party Friday who celebrates 10 years!! Happy Birthday to you!!:

For the base colors I used Dina Wakley paints in Sand, Cheddar, Marine, and Olive.

The completed page:

In my next post I'll catch up with some challenges and celebrations. Be well. And a Happy St. Patrick's Day ( March 17) , and happy Spring ( March 20)  to those in the Northern Hemisphere!

  4. What a fabulous tribute to Eileen. You really made it personal, too, which I'm sure she would have loved. Your art as tribute to her is fantastic, and so is the chardonnay, which I know she enjoyed, as do you. Thank you for this heartfelt tribute to her. So sweet of you to include the wine for T this Tuesday, too.

I was also in awe of the beautiful flower you created from that grid. It was also sweet how you tied it back to Eileen again. Thanks so very much for sharing this single flower with us using Sheila's theme at Art Journal Journey. Your post has touched my heart, dear.

  6. This is a lovely tribute, Linda. It's always awful to lose a blog friend, someone we have never met but have communicated with in a different way. I've lost a few and still think of them, so I can understand how you feel.
The "lost" page is both sad and beautiful.

I'm fascinated by the grid style way of making a piece. I suspect it is not easy. Good idea to start with a restricted set of colours and I just love all the "bits" you've added - the leaf and face and of course the "Single Flower" looking down.
Thanks for another great entry for our challenge at AJJ, I like it a lot.

  8. It is indeed sad to lose such a friend. I'm impressed her people shared the news with blogging friends so we could mourn her passing. So often blogging buddies are just gone, and we never find out what happened.

I lift a glass in her memory. May the love of friends and family and the knowledge that she meant a lot to so many bring some comfort to her husband. R.I.P. Eileen

  15. Yes, a wonderful tribute, and I don´t wanna even think of how her Hubby must feel. We were close to this so often (the other way round).
I had a note for last Saturday: GRIDS!
My table came in the way, but I´m at it. And you are right, we can also miss a person we "only" met online. I still can´t believe she´s gone... Great tribute you gave her.

  27. I am sorry for the loss of your blogging friend, Eileen. May her memory be a blessing. I don’t know this lady but have known more than one blogger over many years who I grew to care about who passed away. They seemed invincible and it was always a shock and a sorrow.
