I'm going to begin today's post with a few photos from the other Saturday when we not only cleaned up trash from a local park but we helped our daughter in love Kyra celebrate the first year since the inception of Lehigh Valley Trash Pact, a volunteer organization formed and created by Kyra. I have a bit about it along with links here in this post.
These photos are courtesy of our friend Lynn. Her photography business website: Lynn Ashley Photo LLC
Bill and I doing our part I took this shot of Kyra with Todd on the left and her grandmother on the right. Kyra provided snacks as well as water and coffee (on the right side of the table - my ticket for T Stands For Tuesday 😁!) Our friend Lynn designed the logo for the organization and merchandise being sold. Oh, and besides everything else, Kyra supplied every volunteer with a printed T shirt! She truly has her heart and soul in this 💚 There were a large number of volunteers of all ages that came to support the organization and park clean up. It was a great time had by all! One more photo (courtesy of Todd):
First up is a junk journal page for the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge (theme is "Feminine"):
The postage stamps are recycled from an envelope. Botanical collage tissue and sentiment sticker are Tim Holtz. The bee is from a napkin.
For Art Journal Journey (theme this month is "Language" with guest host Elle) and for Try It On Tuesday (theme is "Inspired By a Song"):
aaah, the language of love! The song 'Love Hurts' by Nazareth was the inspiration for my page. You can have a listen here:
For the page I used a Dina Wakley Faces Collage Paper, Scribble Sticks, and her Block Alphas stamp set. I added some extra scribbles with a black Fude Ball pen, and for the dimensional teardrop I used Paper Glaze.
This page was done on one of the dark denim pages in the Dina Wakley Blue Edition Media Journal:
Dina Wakley stencils, stamps, and Collage paper - Words. Joining Paint Party Friday!
Have a wonderful week- and a beautiful and happy Mother's Day Sunday here in the US 💐

Trash clean up is so much better when you are with a group. That Helen Keller quote is so true. It goes faster, and you all get to feel good together. Looks like you had a nice day to be out doing some public service too. And I love your art for Try It on Tuesday and also for AJJ this week. That's a good old song. Thanks for sharing with us Linda. I hope you have a great first week of May and a happy T day too. Hugs-Erika
ReplyDeleteFiguring out ways to improve the community is really admirable. The park near our house seems to stay very clean: I think people respect it.

Kyra is a person after my heart. I'm so glad she has taken on this park project. Looks like she got a good sponsor in Lynn, too. I am so glad she took on this project and has truly taken it to heart.
ReplyDeleteYour art this week is wonderful. I love the stamps you sewed to the page. At first, I thought it was an index card.
I absolutely LOVE the way you characterized language. It was beautiful that you also used a song that spoke of the language of love. Thanks for sharing this with us at Art Journal Journey using Elle's theme.
And thanks for sharing all your art this week and Kyra's trash day where she had drinks set up. That's a different, but nice way to share T this Tuesday, dear Linda.
Helen Keller sure was an amazing woman. I mean... she even could talk!
ReplyDeleteI´ll never understand people leaving trash behind, dumb and sad. Dumb, those people, I mean.
Beautiful pages, especially the first one speaks to me.
Happy T-Day!
That's a great way to help the environment, kudos to Kyra and to all who helped, well done. Beautiful art as always, your art is really brilliant. Thanks, too for linking to AJJ and to TIOT, much appreciated. Great music, too. Happy T Day, and have a good week! Hugs, Valerie
ReplyDeleteGreat the garbage campaign and how important it is that you support your daughter with it. .Great photos!!!
ReplyDeleteYour pages are beautifully designed and with the great video
Have a good day, hugs Elke
That quote and the page you made really do emphasise the community spirit that occurs when doing a clean up. We used to have them regularly when we were at our old house.
ReplyDeleteIt looks as though you had a good time.
I love the feminine page in your junk journal.
The 'Love Hurts' page says so much in that face - love how your added the teardrop.
Thank you for joining us at Try It On Tuesday and at AJJ. Happy T Day Hugs, Chrisx
Fabulous post! I loved seeing your volunteering photos and it looks like everyone had fun helping out 😁. Your art is wonderful, I'll be singing that song all day know too ...lol 😉 ...thanks for joining us at Try it on Tuesday! Take care and Happy T Day! Hugs, Jo x
ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea to get together to clean up the area, we have people here who do it, they collect money to buy plants etc to brighten up the place too.
ReplyDeleteLovely artwork and I remember that song although I wouldn’t have known who sang it.
Happy T day

That's great to have a trash clean-up, really ell done.
ReplyDeleteI'm listening to Nazareth as I comment - how marvellous to see a live concert. They are trying out mass clubbing events here.
I just love all your art. The stamps with the bee one is so colourful and fresh and your piece of the song title is dramatic. I saw your last one on Instagram and enjoyed seeing it again.
So admirable to join in the clean up efforts - I did a beach clean up one year and it felt so good so I know you felt you accomplished something. Love the pictures too.
ReplyDeleteYour art is fabulous. Great song to be inspired by (love the focus on the language of love - inspires me) and love the jeans background on your together page (which works so welal with your clean up efforts) plus your great images. All super well done!!!
Happy T day!
An inspirational quote, and it's also an inspiration to see it put into action. I'm not familiar with that cover, but I know the Roy Orbison one ;) Happy T Tuesday!
ReplyDeleteI loved seeing and hearing about your DIL's community service. Sounds like she is doing a great job and loving it. So sad though that we need services such as trash pick-up. If only people could carry their trash to a trash can.
ReplyDeleteLovely art this week. I love the postage stamp theme but that fern on your denim page is my favorite!
Happy Tea Day,
Kate
If we don't stick together and bring change then we are doomed. Lovely photos of a worthy day.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great event you all had ~ wonderful photos and I love the 'stamps' artwork you created ~ Happy Week to you ~ Xo

What a nice thing to do, cleaning up the environment. Thank you for your service. Great artwork. Happy T Day1
ReplyDeleteI really like these spreads. Wonderful.
ReplyDeleteKyra deserves a medal! What a great project! When in a group, it is such fun to do too. When I lived in Italy, we used to climb our local mountain with the Alpine Club specifically to collect rubbish. It's unbelievable what people leave behind, even mountaineers.
ReplyDeleteGreat art. Love the German stamps.
I'm listening to Love Hurts as I write. Great song and a remarkable voice. I remember it well. Was that really 37 years ago? I can hardly believe that. Seems like yesterday.
Happy belated T-Day,
Hugs,
Lisca
Your artwork is always awesome ~ love the denim one ~ Xo ~

Congratulations on being featured today! Happy PPF and have a great weekend, hugs, Valerie
ReplyDeleteWell done Kyra and helpers. One of my pet hates is rubbish being left by people, why do they do it? Fab art too.
ReplyDeleteHi Linda this is in answer to your questions about my painting for PPF. NO do not water down or use easy flow paints. I use Sennelier acrylics. Once you put the clear on the canvas all you need is a small amount of paint on your brush to blend in on the canvas. It actually takes very little paint. I will have to do a step by step on my blog.
ReplyDeleteFabulous art Linda, and a fantastic project that your Daughter in Love created. Hugs Wendy
ReplyDeleteThank you for cleaning up. I want to do a junk journal for Friend Christmas gift. Happy PPF
ReplyDeleteCoffee is on and stay safe
we have this kind of "cleaning up" days in Sweden as well. It is a pity it is needed. :( But you seemed to have a nice day anyway.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite of your art today is the recycled stamps. Nowadays it is rare to recieve a letter with stamps on it. Sad in a way :(
Well done on the trash pact! I love your love hurts page, the Dina Wakley girl is perfect for that, she really looks like she knows how that feels. Thanks for joining me for the Language theme at Art Journal Journey this month Elle xx
ReplyDeleteA great post Linda and I enjoyed going back to read about Kyra's project (I miss so many posts these days) a really worthwhile project and wonderful that she got so many folks involved too. Great art and a fabulous page for TioT, the addition of the tear drop is brilliant, and your inspiration is a song I never tire of hearing.
ReplyDeleteAvril xx
Cleaning up, nice art and good music - great combo!
ReplyDeleteAmazing page to scroll through while listening to Love Hurts. I haven't heard that in years.
