Lots of Challenge Art Projects

I have lots of art to share but first I want to show you a new nest just made in one of our hanging baskets- on our back patio. I am beyond thrilled that we have a pair of Carolina wrens nesting!! We've never had them nest here before and what a sight to watch the pair diligently gathering twigs and leaves and bits( many times as big as their whole bodies) for hours. And as of earlier today they are still adding to the nest. Best of it all- it is just outside our back door window and they built the nest facing it. It may be hard to see but this nest is built like a solid cup laying on it's side . I like to think of it as their hobbit house😊 They put dried leaves on the top of the geranium plant to camouflage the nest. Very clever little birds!

First up is a journal page meant for the Art Journal Journey Challenge (butterflies):

The background was a mop up of stencils with Gloss sprays. Those and the collage tissue gothic windows are Dina Wakley. The butterfly is Tim Holtz, and the quote was computer generated.

My latest index card art for the Index Card a Day (ICAD)  Challenge:

21/61

22/61

23/61

24/61

25/61

26/61 And I will join in at Try It On Tuesday (theme is Here Comes Summer)

27/61

28/61

And now let's grab a refreshment and join Bleubeard and Elizabeth and the gang at T Stands For Tuesday!

In my last post I shared a pic of a very decadent and special cake we had for dessert at Viggiano's in West Cape May recently. I was told by the friends we went with that a favorite was the Chicken Marsala so I chose to order it. It did NOT disappoint!!! I knew  I could only eat half my plate so I had half boxed and gave it to our friend since I knew I wouldn't eat it (we had meal plans for the next (our last) day in Cape May already). Along with our meal- warm fresh bread, grilled asparagus, water and wine of course😉. Cheers!

And for several more art challenges - the Simon Wednesday Challenge and the Simon Monday Challenge (Red, White and /or Blue) and the new challenge at Tag Tuesday (vintage)  I made this patriotic tag:

Products: Manila tag, Distress Oxide Vintage Photo ink - Ranger ; Tim Holtz Paper Doll and Small Talk Occasions sticker; DCWV patterned papers; washi tape - Recollections; red alcohol marker, gesso, rust star, hand dyed ribbon, navy thread.

I will also join in at Paint Party Friday.

This Sunday is our Independence Day - July 4th. I wish everyone a safe and happy holiday!

  5. A carolina wren pair once built a nest in a hanging pot on our porch, but it didn't last -- we'd love to welcome them back. I hope you have little birds soon.

Your art is lovely. Great journal page with the arches and butterfly (love the words and they are so true), your ICADs are really great (21 is my fave), and that food looks yummy (especially the wine - lol).

  9. How special is that! Yes, I can see the nest clearly like a cup lying on its side.
Your cards and quotes are great. I just love the quotes. The best way out of a difficulty, is so true. And I love 'I was left unsupervised'. Even at my age it is an excuse I give myself sometimes.
The chicken Marsala looks delicious. I can't make this dish as I haven't found Marsala here. (Next time I go to Italy....)
    Happy T-Day,
    Hugs,

  14. Where do I begin? You gave us so much to appreciate today. How sweet the birds have created a nest that you can watch as they lay their eggs and develop over time.

I always LOVE your ICADs. They are so very dimensional. I guess I need to rethink my approach next year, because I intentionally keep mine flat. I love them all. Are some of the circles from the ATCoins you made last year? I couldn't possibly choose a favorite.

I love your tags and you have given me an idea for Tag Tuesday, too. Nicely done and inspiring.

Beautiful journal entry for Mia's theme at Art Journal Journey, too. Thank you so much for sharing it.

And finally, your meal looks wonderful. You always seem to enjoy wine with your meal when you are out and about. So glad you shared this and all your incredible art with us for T this Tuesday, dear Linda.

  16. We had a wren nest in a watering can one year, and although we still see wrens every day they've never nested there again. Maybe someday :) We keep the can right where it was just in case. They are such fun to watch, and I love your photo.

It is serendipitous that you show chicken marsala, as I've just bought the seasoning I need to make that dish. I've had it in restaurants, and it is so good, isn't it! Happy T Tuesday

  20. This is a great art post Linda. Thanks for sharing that super butterfly page at AJJ. And lucky you to have a wren nesting. I rarely see them, so I hope you share more nest photos on other T days. And your chicken Marsala does look yummy. Of course in this heat, maybe a salad would taste better, but I know you didn't travel during this heatwave. I hope you had a great T day.My daughter's been around today and I am finally getting a chance to comment. Hugs-Erika
