Happy official summer to everyone in the Northern hemisphere! Did you celebrate it along with Father's day on Sunday? I did! It was a gorgeous (albeit hot) day to enjoy the longest day of the year outdoors. Our son came over and I grilled burgers and made a veggie pasta salad. No photos of that but for T Stands For Tuesday I have this:
Late Saturday afternoon we got a rainstorm and it was quite warm so we decided to sit out under the covered patio area and be like the French with aperitif time- a nice bottle of wine and some snacks. And as we enjoyed it the hummingbirds were coming to both feeders and entertaining us along with the smooth jazz music we were playing. A perfect few hours before dinner. Cheers!
Here's a pic of our shed at the end of our yard:
at the top of this post is a closeup of one of the flower boxes. I am so thrilled at how beautiful they look this year especially because I do NOT have even a bit of a green thumb! Even the hummingbirds will fly from the feeders to the end of the yard to inspect the blooms - first time I've seen that:)
Oh, and there is a new finch nest with a few eggs in my hanging flower basket on the front porch - no cowbird egg this time 👍
I have two more pages from my Dina Wakley kraft journal. I know I shared these on Instagram but didn't post them here.
I'm not so good with monochromatic so on occasion I like to challenge myself😉 Dina Wakley- stencils, collage paper, stamps. Tim Holtz paper Dolls.
And this is my latest batch of index cards (ICADS) for the 61 day challenge I follow on Instagram:
ICAD 15/61
Vintage trim and image. Handmade paper from Bleubeard and Elizabeth:)
ICAD 16/61
ICAD17/61
The vintage trim on the above card came from here:
This huge binder is filled with trim samples and prices from the above company. It came with a box of vintage magazines, etc. that I had bid on and won some time ago at an auction. Here is a video I made flipping through some of the pages:
ICAD 18/61
ICAD 19/61
ICAD 20/61 my ode to the summer solstice, my new blog header, and my entry to
Try It On Tuesday (theme is -Here Comes Summer)😁
Always happy to join in at Paint Party Friday as well!
And that's it for this week. Thanks for stopping in. Have a great week!

I love the idea of sitting under cover and watching hummingbirds and listening to jazz. With rain, and aperitifs. How fun. And your shed does look beautiful with all those pretty flowers. Flowers have been gorgeous here also this year, not sure exactly why. And all your art is great Linda. That trim book was a really good win! I hope you have a great T day week. Hugs-Erika
ReplyDeleteHi Linda, Your wine and snacks looks so perfect for enjoying outdoors and with the sound of rain too. we have always enjoyed watching hummingbirds- so fun and entertaining, here at the new lake house we have a couple pairs now along with an orchard oriole that enjoys the nectar.
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed the video and I just love seeing your ICAD's I like yours the best I have seen around so far.
Enjoy the rest of your week and Happy T Kathy
I would love to be sitting with you watching hummers buzz in and out. There is something about the smell of rain in the summer that is so wonderful. Or it is as I recall - since I live in drought ridden California I'm afraid it will be months before I see or smell rain again. Meanwhile.... I do like your ICAD's. I'm impressed that you are keeping up with them.
ReplyDeleteYour garden looks lovely, and the symmetry in the flowers in your flower box is very well designed. Maybe you should check -- your thumb might be getting greener.

I am always in awe of your ICADs. Mine are SO flat compared to yours. Those ribbons you won are incredible. Lucky you. They will surely last a lifetime. They are the perfect size for the index cards, too. I like them all this week and I see you are really parsing out that sheet of handmade paper.
ReplyDeleteYour flower boxes are wonderful. It is quite impressive to see them in full bloom, too.
Your wine aperitif and snacks look like the perfect way to unwind while listening to jazz and enjoying the hummingbirds.
Thanks for sharing your incredible ICADs, your art, and your afternoon aperitif with snacks with us for T this Tuesday, dear Linda.

Loving your journal pages and the Index cards. I think that it is great that you challenge yourself with certain color schemes. And what a great booklet of trims!
ReplyDeleteYour flowers are gorgeous in your window boxes.
Happy Tea Day,
Kate
Your cheese and wine table is inviting :) Your get-together must've been enjoyable. I love love love day lilies, especially the orange field lily type :) but I don't have the amount of sun they thrive on. Our house when I was growing up faced west and Mother planted a bed of the day lilies all along the south side of the house. They always looked as enthusiastic as your do. Fond memories :) Your window boxes are lovely, too. I always like watching the birds, and it sounds like you've provided a habitat they're attracted to. Sweet!
ReplyDeleteHappy T Tuesday
H Linda, wonderful post. I like your spread for FD. The art is fabulous. Have a great day today.
