October Musings

All I can say is brrrrr!!! We went from a week of summer and then as of Sunday the temps plunged into the 50's by day and 40's at night. Finally put the heat on for the first time this season and put away the flip flops, trading them in for warm socks and shoes. How are things in your neck of the woods?

Just finished a Halloween tag to join the Simon Says Monday Stamp Challenge (Spooky/Halloween); Try It On Tuesday (Halloween); the Simon Says Wednesday Stamp Challenge (Not A Card); and Tag Tuesday (All Hallow's Eve):

Manila tag, Tim Holtz paper Doll, Tim Holtz Small Talk Occasions stickers- Ranger Ink. The  ribbons and pumpkin, spider, and cat stickers are from Michael's. I edged the tag with Staz On Stone Gray ink.

I was able to do a few more of the free Lifebook Taster Sessions 2022 lessons offered by Tamara LaPorte before they were taken away and here is one:

This one was called Pan Tuition and the tutorial was from Jenny Manno. I LOVED this one!! Lots of layers and mediums- gesso, watercolors, watercolor crayons, gesso, Stabilo All pencil, charcoal pencil, and a fine black Pitt pen. When finished this just reminded me so much of the beautiful Tuscan countryside in autumn. It's been many years since I was there but the scenery is still fresh in my mind.
This was added to a page in the Canson XL Mixed Media journal. Joining in at  Art Journal Journey for the theme of "My Favourite Colour is October".

For T Stands For Tuesday (where anyone can join anytime so long as you link something drink related- a piece of art, a beverage, a photo, etc. anything so long as it relates somehow to a drink):

Back in Cape May where hubby and I were treated by friends to dinner in honor of our anniversary. We went back to Viggiano's in West Cape May after enjoying it so much back in May:

We all shared an Appetizer sampler to start. This was my meal choice- a pasta with blush sauce, scallops and shrimp- absolutely delicious! Pasta was perfectly al dente, the sauce light, and the seafood tender. We enjoyed a nice full bodied wine with our dinner along with glasses of water. And then came that dessert....

well, what's left on the plate anyway😂. Bill had to have the Tuscan Zucchetto cake he had in May. We did all get a bite before he finished it up, and the restaurant owner kindly treated us all to a glass of homemade Limoncello to end our grand meal. Cheers!

I  went back again to my square kraft journal to create this page:

There had recently been a lot of rainbow inspired art on Instagram and so I was compelled to make one too. Paints are Dina Wakley as is the journal and chipboard bird. The quote is by Maya Angelou.

Joining in at Paint Party Friday🎨! Have a wonderful week ahead, and stay warm and safe.

  1. It is really cold today here in NH. Brrr. I'm not ready for this chill, but I guess we were spoiled with the recent weather. Your pasta is a great choice for T with this chill because the pasta looks warm and delicious. And its fun to see your art this week. The tag is clever and great. Thanks for sharing it with us at Try It on Tuesday. And your taster session class piece is great. I love the colors and depth. Thanks for sharing that over at AJJ for Tracey's challenge. I hope you have a lovely T day Linda. And a nice week ahead too. Hugs-Erika

Love your tag, food looks delicious. years ago when I was making fruit brandys I also found out how to make lemoncello-sooo good-I would keep it in a plastic gallon jug in the freezer-so good on a hot day.

  4. Rainbow imagery was so popular in the 1970s that sometimes it's hard for me to realize it's been gone for a while. You seem to say it's coming back, which is a cheerful thought. I loved rainbow socks and mittens!

  6. Oh, I like the quote. Goes perfectly with your rainbow art. We have had some cool days here, so I walk later, like 10 or 11 instead of 7 or 8 when it was hot. I think it was in the 50s when I walked today. Loved your art journal page. So cheerful. And what fun tag! Thanks for sharing. Happy t day.

  7. Cute first pic, oh, it made me smile!!!!
And yes. Ingo´s Grandma´s socks are right on my feet, brrr here, too.

    Fancy tag!

Oh. I´ll never understand. After a yummy meal something sweet would ruin it all for me ;-) I´ll never get that concept. I also always eat the yummiest part last.
But glad we´re not all the same! Those desert-makers would be out of jobs if all were like me ;-) And then I would feel bad!

    Love your rainbow + quote - have a happy-T-Day!

  9. Sounds like a fab week, Linda.

Your Halloween tag is fabulous - great idea to put the pumpkin on the doll! Love it.

Your Tuscan AJ page looks like it was fun and it is beautiful. Love it. The rainbow page is fun too - hard to beat a quote by Maya Angelou and I like your lettering and colors.

Fab food and drink pictures too - made me hungry.

Our weather sounds just like you, it was hot, then on Sunday it was cold and we had to turn on the heater. I am glad for it!

Happy T-day and have a wonderful week!

  10. Everybody seems to be complaining about the cold. No more flip-flops. (I'm still in sandals but not for long I think. Even in Spain eventually it gets cold)
I love your art inspired by the Tuscan landscape. It is very recognisable. Once seen Toscana, never forgotten.
Oh that desert looks yummy! How sweet to give a little glass of Limoncello to finish off your meal. Limoncello always reminds me of summer.
    Happy T-Day,
    Hugs,
    Lisca

  13. I loved your art today. The Halloween tag, the rainbow, and the Manno inspired art were lovely. I saw Manno's entry and thought I might be able to recreate something similar, too. No time to do it now, but one of these days, perhaps. I love how you related it and it's also great for Tracey's theme at Art Journal Journey, too.

Your meal at Viggiano's looks divine. So happy you got to share it with friends, too. Your husband looks like he is enjoying the dessert, too. Thanks for sharing your art and your meal at Viggiano, including your wine and water with us for T this Tuesday, dear Linda. Happy belated anniversary, too.
