Let's hope this video works- because I finally was able to catch one of the hummingbirds! The nest of finches were still there on the front porch the day we returned from a 4 day visit (first this year!!) to Cape May, NJ. They were quite scrunched in the nest and had all their feathers, and by the following day they had flown the nest. I'm glad all 5 survived.
It was SO good to get to the beach again. However, it was a very different and unusual trip. First of all, I got Bill's cold and got quite sick with a fever, very sore throat, cough and laryngitis. I did take a Covid test to be sure I didn't have it as I certainly didn't want to risk exposing anyone in Cape May. To this day I still have a scratchy throat and slight cough:(. Here are a few pics of the strange, very foggy 4 days we had once we arrived:
Here we are standing on the promenade- where is the ocean???? You couldn't see anything of it until you walked to the shoreline!
Page in the Dina Wakley Kraft Journal. Dina Wakley paints, stencils, Gloss spray (Ocean), Collage Collective scrap. Tim Holtz- Botanicals, Small Talk Stickers. Other- Posca pens.
I have a tag for Tag Tuesday (theme is buttons and bows), and actually this one could work for Try It On Tuesday as well:)
I use a die cut ag that I glued button paper on (old paper from my stash). The pretty textured butterfly is one of 3 that Valerie had sent me as happy mail some time ago. Paper doll and Small Talk sticker- Tim Holtz.
Speaking of tags, I made a tag last week for Tag Tuesday and decided to make a journal page for it:
And that's a wrap for this week. I will also link to Rain's Thursday Art date this week. I saw that Kathy whos hosts Food Wednesdays is going to have a link up on the first Wednesday of each month so I will join her and friends then on June 1st! Much as I do enjoy following fellow bloggers and challenges I find it difficult to keep up in the summer months, but I do appreciate all you do!
And if anyone is going away to celebrate Memorial Day weekend/Monday, enjoy!, and please be safe.

It must have been good to get away for a few days, even if you didn't feel 100%. Luckily it wasn't covid. The fog is very dramatic. Sorry to hear one of your favorite places is no longer. The new place, if it isn't private, will hopefully be nice. Maybe they saved the bar. And thanks for linking up your journal page with us at Try It on Tuesday and also for Matilde's challenge at AJJ. Have a great week Linda. Hugs-Erika
ReplyDeleteSad you were sick on holiday. And that is was foggy all the time, and oh, your fav place being closed. Yet, I admir how you manage to take it all so positive!
ReplyDeleteLove your art and wish you a happy T-Day!
Sorry you got sick on your little vacation, but glad you enjoyed the foggy views of the ocean, so beautiful. Hope you are soon quite better. It's always a pity when places we love disappear, it's like losing a friend. Thanks for all the various pieces you made for tag Tuesday, AJJ and TIOT, much apreciated. Happy T Day, hugs, Valerie
ReplyDeleteI think we may have eaten at the place in Cape May that you mentioned, that is now out of business. Our favorite in Cape May was Lobster House. Sorry to hear that you were unwell AND had less-than-perfect weather!

I hate it when beloved places close up. Since covid it happens more and more. Sad. Glad you got to go to the beach and still enjoy friends and some of your favorite places. The fog is very pretty even if it did cloud your view.
ReplyDeleteLovely art - all of it. Great combinations of details, colors and interesting items. I especially love the buttons and the bird. Happy T-day and Hugz to you, Linda.
Good morning Linda so sorry you were ill, but still good to get away too. It is cool looking here too on the lake when we are fogged in. So sad about one of your favorite restaurants especially if they are going to redo a vintage resturant-very sad. Loved the hummingbirds, beautiful art.
ReplyDeleteWe will have food wednesdays on wednesdays til the end of May and beginning June we will post for the first wednesday of the month through summer. Happy T hugs Kathy
Sorry to read you were sick during your stay in Cape May. I always love fog, especially when it rolls in off the water. I would have been in heaven.
ReplyDeleteSorry to read about the Merion. All I can say is, I'm glad I live in Kansas, because the cost of a meal there is more than I would spend in a month. Thee diner's price for breakfast (eggs) is more like what we would pay in KS. Thanks for sharing your breakfast and coffee with us for T this Tuesday, dear Linda.
Lovely art this week. Nice to see you came back from vacation enthused. The bird you shared is fabulous. Thanks for sharing this bit of inspiration with us at Art Journal Journey using Matilde's theme. Glad to see you back.
Hope you are feeling better Linda and could enjoy your break at the beach. I do love to see the sea! The Cricket Club seems like an odd name since you all don't play a lot of cricket over there, or do they mean the insect? Love all your pages and art and I like that button paper too. Happy T Day Elle/EOTC xx
ReplyDeleteWe got away for a week this month also, the only week that had good weather! We live next to Lake Ontario so we are often fogged in.
ReplyDeleteLove your tag!
Wow looks like a fine time away. It's nice to get away but also nice to come home. I love the art today especially the tags. Have a lovely day.
ReplyDeleteI don't mind if the weather doesn't always cooperate if I'm away, especially at the beach. the fog is beautiful and at least I'm somewhere else and not looking at my same old boring walls. I hope you're feeling better. Too bad your favorite restaurant is closing. Lovely old building. Breakfast looks real good. Happy T Day
ReplyDeleteIt is never fun to be sick on vacation. At least you enjoyed the extra time in the room. Sometimes having an excuse to just lie around is good for us when we aren't feeling well.
ReplyDeleteThat is SO disappointing that they are destroying the Inn that you like to dine at, especially the beautiful woodwork. Places with character are far better than modern clubs, at least in my opinion.
Lovely art today.
Happy Tea Day,
Kate
I am so sorry to hear you were sick during your vacation, Linda, good that you got the rest! I hope you are feeling better now. It is so sad about the restaurant. I am glad that the beautiful bar will have a new life even if it is elsewhere. Great to have you back and see your lovely and inspiring artwork again.

Hummingbirds are almost magical to watch, aren't they! And baby finches are so sweet. I'm glad they made it ok. I'm sorry you were sick on your vacation. The foggy beach looks eerie. I'd have enjoyed a walk there in what seems unusual conditions for a Springtime beach. That breakfast looks tasty :) Happy T Tuesday!
ReplyDeleteI hope you enjoyed the foggy coast ~ not what you wanted I am sure and not to feel well either ~ but the salt air is healing ~ Hope you had a good time ~

Perhaps it was good that it was so foggy - gave you a chance to rest! Sad to read of your favourite place changing hands.
ReplyDeleteI love your journal page and tag - thanks for sharing at both AJJ and TIOT Belated Happy T Day, Chrisx
I hope you are feeling much better and fully recovered Linda. The art you shared looks amazing and thank you for linking the beautiful butterfly piece with us at Try it on Tuesdays.

Sorry to hear you were sick, especially on your holiday! Everything was certainly testing you Linda but there is always a ray of sunshine even on the darkest days! I love your tag. Wow you really captured the button theme with your paper. Thanks for joining us at Tag Tuesday this week.

I'm sorry I'm late for tea, I was sure I left a comment but I don't see it so maybe not. Love your bird pages and the button paper, and I love visiting the beach any time of the year. Strange name change for the restaurant, I didn't think they played cricket there, unless they mean the insect. Happy belated T day!
ReplyDeleteGreat idea to use your tag art on your journal page ~ Wonderful ~ Xo
ReplyDeleteHope you have a lovely holiday weekend ~

4 foggy days sounds weird to me. But I am bglad you are well from the cold again. I like all your art, both Journals and tags. I don´t have this kind of pieces to work with. I have not seen them in Sweden. Love yoru cute birds. :) Take care!
ReplyDeleteHi Linda! Great video!!! Oh I love your hummer feeder, I haven't seen that type before! Sorry you caught such a nasty cold! :( But I'm sure glad it wasn't Covid. Going to the beach sound divine! I love foggy beaches, lovely photos. It's been so long since I went out for breakfast, that's a nice treat! Your buttons and bows art is fabulous!!! ♥

It IS so good to get back out into the world again. I'm sorry that you weren't feeling well on your beach trip, Linda. Hopefully you are feeling better by now. I like mysterious, foggy days at the beach. I once lived on Long Island off Digby Neck in Nova Scotia. Surely it is one of the foggiest places in the world at times. I remember once holding my hand out in the fog and not being able to see it. I love your poppies and honey bees, and thanks for sharing your hummer! Take care!
ReplyDeleteHope you had a great weekend and thanks for visiting and your sweet comments ~ Xo
