"T"eacup Tuesday...and Snow!

Here we go again-the snow just won't leave us!! Cancellations abound in the northeast once again. I did manage to take a few photos this AM:

As of 11AM we already had 7 inches. It's now mid afternoon and the snow continues to fall. We're supposed to get some more on Wed. and another possible storm over the weekend...Calgon take me awaaaayyyyyy!!

I'm joining Terri at Artful Affirmations with this teacup for Teacup Tuesday,  Elizabeth and Bleubeard for T Stands for Tuesday and Tea Time Tuesday:

This lovely cup had been my grandmother's. See what looks like dirt around the bottom rim of the cup? The cup had been glued to the saucer. Why?? I fiddled a bit and discovered that whatever held it together was still mallable. I carefully picked it away and the cup came free. There was a big green mound of this stuff under the cup-still somewhat soft. My hubby determined it was probabaly  plumber's putty. Imagine, after all these years I was able to loosen it easily-and thankfully. Now I can enjoy it with tea :).

 Here's the back stamp:

The only thing I could find online was that the same cup is being offered on Ebay with a starting bid of $15.

Last week I shared a few paper Valentine teacups I made (here). I have made two different ones to share. These are sassy :) I'm also linking these to the Simon Says Monday Challenge Blog whose theme this week is "Love Notes":

Products: white card stock; patterned papers; vintage images; teacup/teabag template -found online; twine (Martha Stewart); mini stapler (Tim Holtz); heart stickers; Stickles glitter glue (Ranger); rubber stamp script (Love To Stamp); Versafine Onyx Black ink (Tsukineko); Warm Red Fluid Chalk ink (Clearsnap); typed sentiments; Red German Borders (ARTchix Studio).

This next series of photos I'm sharing is for Inspiration Avenue where the theme for this week is "stained glass". It just so happens these faux stained glass pieces are projects my husband made for some of our windows using Gallery Glass:
Yes, I  just took these today - you can see all our snow in the background!

This one is above our hallway stair banner on the second floor and is anchored to the ceiling. This was hubby's most challenging and definitely a LABOR of love. You see, he spent countless hours painting the glass and then making the framing from scratch. As he was beginning to screw it to the side wall the whole piece fell way, shattering the glass and splitting the frame. I can't tell you how long he just sat and looked at it and I can't believe he didn't break down sobbing (as I would have). This is the second one he made.  We do love our "stained glass" windows :)

Feel free to join in anytime on any of these challenges and blogs each week-there are many really wonderful links to visit! Teacup Tuesday; T Stands For Tuesday; Tea Time Tuesday;   Inspiration Avenue; and Simon Monday Challenge Blog. Thanks to all the hostesses!

  6. I'm not sure what amazes me more today, the way you were able to get that teacup apart, or the faux stained glass your hubby created. And I would have cried if I had to make something that lovely again, too. I have quite a few bottles of that Gallery Glass and have NEVER used it. I may get inspired to try something soon.

Your snow looks very familiar. Right now its snowing and we are supposed to get between 9 and 12 inches by tonight, then more on Wednesday, and even more on Saturday, I'm really ready for warmer weather.

Thanks for sharing T(ea) today with your lovely teacup and your snow. Hope you stay warm and safe.

  7. ooo what gorgeous stained glass creations and all the more special that they were created by your sweetie Linda ♥ ... my heart dropped when I read about that mishap...deary me...

Your collaged tea cups are too sweet and fun!

what a great thing to be able to separate your Grandmother's lovely cup from it's saucer...I can think of several reasons 'why' they may have been stuck together...

    Happy T Day Dear One

  8. Seems like we are all "enjoying" the white stuff right now! The tea cup is gorgeous, and I am glad you were able to separate it so it can be used and enjoyed. Your husband's stained glass pieces are gorgeous! Reminds me I have a ton of Gallery Glass--maybe I'll go experiment!

  9. Hi Linda, we had the same idea this morning of taking photos (for those of us in the Northeast!) as I did the same on my T-post! But, you added those beautiful stained glass windows too. Happy T-day!

  10. Wonderful faux stained glass. I have tried that paint on glasses, but this is entirely a different labor of love. They are fantastic!

Love, love, love your G-ma's mug, and your paper ones are pretty too.
    Happy T-day

  11. I spotted that cardinal right off in your snowy photo. That is one of the prettiest sights of winter, a red cardinal amongst all that white.
    Have a great T day!

  15. The winter is so harsh but I too can't help but take pictures of the snow. Your grandma's tea cup is pretty. Floral patterns are my favorite. Your Valentine cups are so unique, can't pick a favorite out of the two. You are so lucky to have an artistic husband. His 'stain glass' works are so awesome.
    Happy T day.

  16. A lovely newsy post, Linda. That snow, while being inconvenient for you to live with, is very pretty! I'm hoping we're going to get away without any of the white stuff this year - we've had plenty of the wet stuff!

I amazed at your husband's self restraint. I think a few choice words would have been said if that had been my stained glass or my husband's!

    xx
ps I enjoyed looking at your ATCs in Somerset Studio :)

  17. So many pretty things in this post. The tea cup and saucer are lovely and how nice you were able to separate them. I like those tea cup Valentines (and the ones you showed us previously). The stained glass is beautiful, your windows must be so interesting.

  18. Wow so much snow! I can't believe we haven't had any at all! Although we've had some stormy weather its been a strangely mild winter this far north-perhaps we'll get a freak snow storm around May!
Your tea cup cards are lovely-i love the vintage photos.
Your husband is very talented -his strained glass windows are beautiful.

  25. I love the "steeped in love" qoute adoring your beautiful work! And the vintage ladies of course :) We have hardly had any snow- so unusual for being in Northern Canada, so if you'd like you can definitely send some our way;) You've inspired me to go make a nice a cup of tea now
