As I am typing this post the snow is falling - again. I awoke this morning to icy sidewalks and side roads and the freezing rain "spritzled" off and on during the day. It was in the 30's F over the weekend, however, Sat. nite we lost power for over 1 1/2 hrs (some were w/o power even longer) for no obvious reason. The news finally reported old transformer systems to be the reason. Nothing more to say on that subject.
This is a journal page I completed this weekend and am linking to Bleubeard and Elizabeth and friends at T Stands for Tuesday and Conny's Mix It Monthly challenge for the theme this month of "play with fabric".
My journal page was covered with another of my gelli print deli papers. I made paper templates for the teapot, lid, mug, dish and coffee. Once I chose my fabrics I backed them with a fusible interfacing for stability before tracing the patterns and cutting them out. After they were glued to the page along with the typed sentiment I outlined everything with a charcoal pencil and smudged a bit.
I also made a trio of cards for the Simon Monday Challenge Blog. This week the theme is "red and pink". I do love that combo but am done with Valentines so I came up with something else to fit.
I wish I could have gotten better pics but considering the weather...You can click on the image for a better view. The colors are much more vibrant in person.
I am also linking to Inspiration Avenue for the theme of "show and tell" this week.
Again, weather depending, my son and I have two appointments tomorrow AM so I will be around to visit in the afternoon. Hope you are safe and warm where you are. I did hear that as of this time Australia is the warmest spot right now. I can learn the 'Aussie' life pretty quickly :)

Loving your tea pot page and ATC's. Thanks for the inspiration!
ReplyDeleteFantastic Linda ! Adorable page and such lovely cards as well!

Ah, that teapot and cup are wonderful. Is that really fabric? It is awesome. And so great for this time of year, when we need the warmth (at least in the Northern Hemisphere).
ReplyDeleteYour cards are beautiful. I've not made any Valentines this year, and I'm already tired of them (grin). Glad to see a different style.
Thanks for sharing all this great art with us for T this week. BTW, that's what happens when the electricity goes out in my neighborhood, too. Old transformers and they don't change them, but repair them a bit till the next time they blow.
Your teapot collage looks wonderful Linda. Sorry to hear that you even had power failure in this weather. My husband is back there and I am being updated about how bad the cold is in the east.
ReplyDeleteSouth of India is also warm all 365 days-:)
Happy Tuesday

Love you journal page Linda ;)
ReplyDeleteBrilliant words too.
It's no fun without power... we lost power for 36 hours once in Canada. You have to become very inventive with that amount of time.
Have a fun and creative week ;)
Very Gorgeous cards and the fabric tea-set is fabulous! Happy T Day :o))
ReplyDeleteI agree, Linda - the Aussie life would be very tempting about right now! LOL
ReplyDeleteLove the ATC's; they are still so much fun to make, aren't they? And, of course, your journal page is fab, as always. Where do you get your deli paper?? I haven't found a source as yet.
Stay warm and keep on making ART!!
Oh my it sounds like a winter to remember in your neck of the woods.
ReplyDelete(whispering: we've hardly gotten any snow here in VA so far)
Looks like you are making good use of your indoor time creating lots of lovely things.
Fun fabric teapot and cup and great use of your gelli print.
Super quote...thank you for sharing your gifts dear Linda.
Only 38 more days til Spring ♥

It's gray here, with a predicted high in the 40sF. We don't have ice or snow, but I'm still cold. I'd gladly join you on a visit to hot Australia ;)
ReplyDeleteHello and Happy T Day Linda! I LOVE your teapot and cup, so pretty and creative to use fabric for it. YAY for Valentines, such pretty colors together aren't they. It is cold and snowy here again too, tired of seeing it but know we are getting closer to spring. I've been enjoying my hot tea even more on these cold days. We had a warm up on Saturday too, was so nice to be outside and not freeze.
ReplyDeleteStay warm and safe friend, thanks for sharing.
Lovely art this week! I adore your tea and valentines...I have not done any valentine art at all! hoping you stay warm despite the icy weather...happy T day!
ReplyDeleteI admire how you find time to make these delightful creations ~ I used to do more but photography seems to have grabbed my passion ~ Tired of snow ~ ready Spring ~
ReplyDeleteBe cozy, warm and safe,
Happy Week to you,
artmusedog and carol
Sweet artwork. One of these days I'm going to have to try gelli plate prints. I've made a pact with myself that I can't start that until I pare down some supplies. That's not going to be easy.
ReplyDeleteHappy T Day!
Of course we had the same weather here yesterday which caused our appointments to be cancelled. Today it is 40 degrees and sunny but the only thing melting is the icicles.
ReplyDeleteYour journal page is really lovely and makes me feel bright and cheery! I like working with fabric but keep forgetting it as an option in my tea journal. Thanks for that reminder!
Cute teapot page and cards! Stay warm and safe. If you do get out tomorrow--watch out for the ice. Travel safely. Happy T-Day! :)
ReplyDeleteAww LInda I so love your inviting cup and teapot! Such lovely pattern and colors! I would love to see it a bit closer for the yummy texture ;) Such lovely cards too! Stay warm these days! ♥ Conny Mix It Monthly
ReplyDeleteGorgeous journal page there and your little prints are wonderful. I must remember to get my Ophelia stamp out...it has been a while.

Sending you some sunshine and warmer temps......grin
Your cards are very nice and I love that journal; page. Hope your weather will improve shortly you've had enough already!
ReplyDeleteVery beautiful, delicious old portraits! Exquisite pictures!
ReplyDeleteWe have not had snow or ice here in the southern USA yet but some is supposed to be on the way Monday and Tuesday. Snow is beautiful to look at but such a pain to have to get out in. I love your pretty ladies and the teapot with the great deli paper background.
ReplyDeleteWhat a fantastic post with some wonderful creations! My condolences on your freezing weather and loss of power! Seems like the power always goes out on me when I'm in the middle of blow-drying my hair, so I hope it struck at least when your hair was dry! We've had beautiful weather, so hang on and I know it will be there soon! As for your creations, I do adore the whimsy of your teapot piece and the colors are perfect! I was also impressed with your red and pink card trio. What a lovely soft vintage feel they have and I was glad you made them for other holidays. I'm getting a little over-Valentined myself! Thank you so much for the inspiring post and for taking the time to share your talents with us for this week's Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge!
ReplyDeleteThanks Linda for the kind words on my post. I love your tea pages. So cozy for that snow you were getting. And I agree with you- as snow if falling here right now-I am ready for it to stop.
ReplyDeletemmm I would love to share a cup with you!
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry to be so late in my response but I got very busy rescuing cats last week! Thank you for sharing your beautiful art with us at Inspiration Avenue. Such beautiful cards-I love the red and pink trio.
