Are you northern hemisphere peeps staying cool? Wow! Another heat wave hit us and it reached a feel-like temperature of 110 degrees F!! Until some thunderstorms rolled in-several times :)
Thought I'd start by sharing a photo of the Bastille Day celebration we had at my Mom's (this was early in the day long before we were to hear of the tragedy in Nice).
There was all kinds of French food from a cherry clafoutis, French cheeses, paté de campagne, baguette, croissants, Napoleons and of course Bordeaux wine all accompanied by French music!
I was thinking of that day as the Tour De France has just ended and what a fabulous 3 week tour it was!!!! I prayed that all would go well and there would be no further incidents or tragedies especially when you think about the huge numbers of people that attended the various segments along the tour, not to mention the end in Paris.
With this heat the garden is growing beautifully, and oh joy I have finally gotten a few pics of our frequent visiting hummingbirds:
Not the best pics and I only have a dinky basic camera but nonetheless I get such a kick when I can get something of these speedy birds!
Playing around in the watercolor journal:
wet on wet technique
and in my mixed media journal:
acrylic paints, stencils, paint pens

Great pages! Love the photos you captured of the hummingbird. They are so fun to watch. We were sweltering as well. Heat indexes at 113°...yuck. Sitting outside in a garage sale was great. :/
ReplyDeleteYES there IS a Light inside you!
ReplyDeleteYour French feast looks and sounds oh so lovely.
You had me at Cherry Clafoutis ♥
I picked up some Camenbert the other day...it had been awhile since we'd had any. It melted beautifully on some heated crusty bread (heated only in the toaster oven because it is SO HOT HOT HOT here too!)
Lovely to see your beautiful watercolor creations dear Linda AND your sweet hummers too. They are the sweetest little birds.
Happy T Day oxo
Divine creations ~ love the Bastille Celebration table and the watercolors and the mixed media ~ you are one busy lady ~
ReplyDeleteWishing you a Happy Week ~ ^_^
Thunderstorms headed this way later tonight ~ Summer!
I've never seen a hummingbird, so the pics are great for me. Love your colourful work.
ReplyDeleteWonderful art Linda, and what a spread for Bastille Day!
ReplyDeleteHot here in SOCAL as usual for the summer.
Happy T-day
Lovely and colourful art and flowers, which always make me smile. It was sad that Bastille fay ended so sadly. Thanks for joining us at TIOT and AJJ, and have a happy T day, hugs, Valerie
ReplyDeleteI always love your style and this is no exception! Great flair on the page and in the watercolor journal! What a wonderful Bastille Day celebration table! I have to say thank you for joining us at Try It On Tuesday, Moo Mania & More as well as Art Journal Journey and a happy T-Day to you dear Linda!

Susi
wonderful buffet you had to celebrate. your art pieces are awesome, too and i would love to have some hummingbirds here. never saw them in real.
ReplyDeletehappy t-day, linda!
What a perfect way to share Bastille Day with those you love. Too bad it had to end in such tragedy in Nice. The entire feast sounds wonderful, even though I know so little about French cooking.
ReplyDeleteI was impressed by your hummingbird photos. I have never seen one here, even though I bought a hummingbird feeder and put out a sugar water mixture I found on the internet. I have robins and blue jays, but no hummingbirds and very few cardinals.
Your AJJ, MM&M, and TioT entries are both beautiful and colorful. I was super impressed by the stenciling and pen work you did, too.
Thanks for sharing your lovely art, and your Bastille Day celebration with us for T this Tuesday.
A wonderful celebration spread, the cheeses look so tempting for me.
ReplyDeleteSo please you the bird visitors on camera, I can imagine how happy you must be that they come so close to your home.
Love your water colour and yes flowers do make me smile too.
Happy T Day
Yvonne xx
Your art captures the warmth and sunshine perfectly. And the food: oh la la! It looks delicious.
ReplyDeleteYour celebration looks so happy and such great food. Such a sad ending to the day it makes my heart weep. Love your art today ....sp light and cheery. I need your snail mail address so I can send your ATC from last week. Happy T Day!!!!.
ReplyDeleteYou had all the necessary foods for your French celebration. I'll bet everyone enjoyed it.
ReplyDeleteThose hummers are hard to capture with a camera, glad to see you got some shots.
I like the art pages, wet on wet watercolor can get away from you but you did a great job with the process.
Wonderful art play Linda, I can see you are having fun : )
ReplyDeleteI love the wet on wet painting, and your acrylic page.
It is super hot here too. Keeping my fingers crossed for a thunderstorm. How cool that you had this celebration! I am so glad you enjoyed the tour, and that all were safe.
Hugs,
Terri
Our Hummers are out in force... but they have been having to fight the red wasps at the feeder... But my one armed knight in shining armor goes out there with a broom and has taken care of a wasp or two.. :)Love your water color work... thats something i haven't played with yet... Happy happy Tday! Hugs! deb
ReplyDeleteYour Bastille Day celebration food looks wonderful! And don't you love those hummingbirds! They are so much fun to watch, and I enjoy keeping a feeder for them, too. Happy T Tuesday!
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful Bastille Day spread! So fitting after the end of the Tour de France. I love your plates. And the clafoutis made my mouth water. I thought: now there's another idea! Next time I have a glut of fruit, I will try to do a clafoutis (never done one).
ReplyDeleteSuch a shame about the killings at Nice. Then Munich after that! What is the world coming to?
I love your art work, especially the mixed media. I like the accents of white and I have been trying for several years now to source a white pen or fineliner to do those accents with. I can get them in the US but only with 15 dollars shipping for a 3.50 dollar pen, which I think is ridiculous and I refuse to pay that. The UK is almost as bad.
I'm looking forward to receiving your ATC. I posted yours yesterday.
The humming bird is awesome! I can see it clearly. How precious and what a privilege. Lucky you.
Thanks for visiting,
Happy T-Day,
Lisca
Oh Linda! I love that spread for Bastille Day - love clafoutis! I loved seeing your humming birds - I would watch all day!!! Your journal pages are wonderful, and yes, flowers do make me smile so I am pleased you joined us at Try It On Tuesday! Hugs, Chrisx
ReplyDeleteWhat a fantastic celebration and feast! How wonderful to have Hummingbirds in your garden, they are a sight to behold. Lovely watercolour pages too! Happy belated T Day! J :-)
ReplyDeleteOh yes, these flowers did make me smile! Thanks for sharing your piece with us at TIOT this time.
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely idea to make a French celebration table, it looks so yummy.
ReplyDeleteYou water color paintings are very nice too. Your sweet hummingbirds are to fast to make good photos with a normal camera. But it is a joy to see that they come to you.
Have a nice summer.
Greetings
Sabine
What a great way to celebrate.
ReplyDeleteWell done on photographing the hummingbird... I'd love to see one in real life.
Love your journal pages.... hmmm... not used my H20's for ages ;)
Karen
Yes, flowers always make me smile. Love both your journal pages, so colourful.
ReplyDeleteGreat pictures of the hummingbirds, something I've never seen in real life.
Looks like a great celebration for Bastille Day - such a shame that it ended in such a tragedy for some.
