Muddling Through
First of all I want to thank all of you who have sent love, prayers and hugs regarding our recent loss. It's hard to put in words the gratitude for your kindness and understanding.
I finally decided to go back into my art room and create a bit. I chose to do another lesson in the Radiant Faces class. This one was taught by Dina Wakley and actually turned out to be a very appropriate lesson for me at this time.
This is a page of quick simple sketches done with Stabilo pencils to get started on "The Stranger".
And this is my finished journal page:
It ended up being a self portrait exposing my heart.
Still in "Dina" mode I created this journal page:
Paris is on my mind especially since I've been following the Tour de France, and of course Patty's magnificent posts of her trip around France have me wandering. I used a French napkin and the colors of the French flag along with white and black gesso. The Eiffel tower is a rubber stamp I stamped and fussy cut. A recycled French stamp at the top. Silhouette was cut from Gelli Plate printed paper. This is also to celebrate the French Independence day (Bastille Day) on Thursday.
Linking the above to Art It Friday- Show Your Face; Moo Mania (theme is Paris); Try It On Tuesday (theme is Happy Holidays); and Paint Party Friday.
For T Stands for Tuesday:
A light petit dejeuner (breakfast) outdoors on a warm summer morning. Just perfect.
We celebrated my Mom's birthday over the weekend with French food, wine and music of course:) This is the card I made for her:
Linking to the Simon Monday Challenge (theme is flora and fauna).
Looking forward to catching up with everyone this week!

So glad to read that you are starting to heal after your incredible recent loss. Although the healing will take time, losing yourself in art is one good way to lessen it.
ReplyDeleteI was so impressed with your lost and empty face. The eyes were magical. I also liked the Paris entry and the image you created from the gelli print.
Your mother's card is beautiful. I like how you used so many disparate colors and designs that came together flawlessly in the end.
Of course I really enjoyed a bit of breakfast on the patio with that lovely poppy mug. The omelet looks wonderful, too. Thanks for sharing it, along with your beautiful art with us for T this Tuesday. Let the healing continue, dear.
A lovely post linda, crafting does help the healing as it takes our mind away from thinking.

It can take a long time since dogs are really members of the family, aren't they. Still thinking of you. Hugs-Erika

My heart goes out to you during this time. I'm glad you're finding some comfort in your art, but it's hard to deal with this, I know.
ReplyDeleteGrief takes it's own time and it's own course. Using your art to learn to deal with it is a good plan and your art is deep and full of emotion this week. Sending your Prayers for Peace and Strength as you walk the healing path.

So sorry to hear about your loss. Annie looks so sweet and I can imagine how you must miss her. The poem from last post really says it all. I love the close-up of that eye, and the journalpage is very touching, especially in the light of what happened in France last night. When I heard the news I had to think of you, knowing how you carry France and its people in your heart. Wishing you strength and healing through your art ♥
ReplyDeleteI agree, Making art really does always help! Great journal pages, thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteHi Linda! I am so sorry about BooBoo. I haven't been out posting or visiting for several weeks. BooBoo looked like one very happy pup! Thank you so much for your sensible comment on me and the flower/vase weird thing that has come up for me. I actually have two more paintings of the same theme coming up.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE your "self portrait". I think that would make the most wonderful card for someone who has just suffered a loss. It's beautiful and meaningful. Great job!
So sad you had France on your mind this week prior to the tragedy. My thoughts and prayers are with you as I am sure this has hit your heart more than most. Big hugs and healing thoughts to you today, Rasz.

I'm sorry for your loss. Your art is lovely. There's such a sweet and poignant feeling to your pages right now.
ReplyDeleteOh Linda, I came to visit earlier today, but after reading that beautiful poem for Annie (BooBoo) I had to come away. With my Muffy being 12 years old now I'm aware that we have only a limited time together... even though she's still acting like a puppy. It was heart-wrenching. I can't say anything to help with your grieving... only to say I hope you are able to remember the joy and good times you had together.
ReplyDeleteOn a lighter note I'm happy that your art was able to give you some comfort. It's beautiful.
Happy Belated Birthday to your Mum... what a perfect way to celebrate. Her card is beautiful.
Hugs to you

I hope you are enjoying the tour de France, I'm watching too, but not as much as I would like.
I suppose it's not really surprising that how we are feeling comes out onto our pages... but I can feel your pain and sense of loss.
