Now that it's October and autumn weather has officially arrived I thought I'd start on some Halloween cards. My first card was inspired by this sketch
Gotta love the Tim Holtz bird stamps, dies and accessories! Tag, stickers and twine from Recollections. Joining Freshly Made Sketches along with the Simon Wednesday Challenge (anything goes).
For T Stands For Tuesday I have a few funny things to share I found in a shop during our recent trip to Cape May:
I thought the masks (made from bamboo roots) were pretty cool!
And here are a few fun kitchen towels I photographed:
I found this coffee mug there too (no I didn't buy any of these items I'm showing-I was good:)
And after revisiting the art and reading the book again I was inspired to make a journal page using my digital/paper collage piece:
Edit: as of tonight-Fri. Oct 7 I set up new router sent by Verizon and connection seems to be improved. Time will tell if I need to upgrade speed service too...

What a great Halloween card! I do love those Tim Holtz birds! Such a great colour! Thanks for joining us this week at Freshly Made Sketches!
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure you'll be able to post or even read this, but I will link you for T on Monday afternoon as soon as my post goes live. You won't have to worry about that, at least. I can truly feel for you because I was in the exact same boat back in August.
ReplyDeleteThose masks are unique, but the towels were so much fun. I adore mid-century modern and these towels are certainly that. Of course, I would have bought that mug in a heartbeat. It's a GEM!
I've never heard of that movie, but I love how you have inspired me to get in the mood for Halloween with both the Miss Peregrine art and the crazy birds.
I also believe that final quote says it all! I'm rooting for you to get your internet, because I am well aware of your problem. Thanks for sharing your art AND those towels and masks with us for T on Tuesday.
Gorgeous card Linda, the crazy bird is super cute and the banner and layout are fabulous :-)
ReplyDeletethanks for joining us on the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge

Sorry about your internet problems. You had time for lovely art, though, and I love that spooky journal page. I don't know the book or film, sorry. Have a great week, hugs, Valerie
ReplyDeleteOh no, hope your internet gets up and running again soon. I always feel so left out and lost in the wilderness when it is down. Kind of strange too seeing I've spent most of my life without internet. :) That is cool art you did for the book. Was it a good read? I've seen it on the store bookshelves but never read it. I like Tim Burton though so I was curious. happy early T Day. Hugs-Erika
ReplyDeleteHope your internet issues are quickly resolved!!! I know that frustration all too well. The shop looks interesting ans I do so love the coffee mug. I think I may have been tempted to purchase it for sure. Love the art and had to look up the book as I hadn't heard of it or the movie. We don't get out much LOL!
ReplyDeleteGlad you managed to publish your post as I always love to see yoyr wonderful work. Hope you get the internet sorted it. So frustrating when the technology fails. Many thanks for your email about Rueben. It was very much a comfort to me. ❤️💕❤️
ReplyDeleteWhat a clever idea to do a journal page with Miss Peregrine's Home For Peculiar Children. I really want to see the movie, I did buy the book and read it......now your journal page has peeked that interest even more.....guess I'll go see it by myself.
ReplyDeleteThe prescription coffee mug had me giggling........oh I NEED THAT cup!
Internet problems are a pain in the empty coffee cup! We seem to have to go through it all about twice a year around here.
Happy T-day...and you just can't go wrong with TH Crazy Birds.....LOVED it!
Oh that bird! Love this Halloween card! Perfectly done! So glad you joined us at FMS!
ReplyDeleteLovely card and journal page! Some of Miss Peregrine's Home For Peculiar Children was filmed near to where I live here in the UK. I haven't seen the film but on the trailer you can recognise some of the town. The shop looks fun and the mug made me smile - so clever :-). Happy T Day! J :-)

ReplyDeleteHope you are all connected now :)
ReplyDeleteBarry cut through our phone line last weekend, when he was taking up some grass... thankfully he avoided the internet cable! I didn't miss the land line at all! All fixed now and free of charge too - which was unexpected being as it was our fault.
Anyway... love your spooky halloween art... that book project looked fun. I've not seen the film... or read the book. I'll look out for both!
Kx

ReplyDeletemuch love...
Wonderful Halloween spirit page. Really haunting house.
ReplyDeleteHappy PPF ♥
Great art, Linda. Internet is wonderful when it works but extremely frustrating when it doesn't. Hope it gets fixed at your house. Thanks for mentioning the movie. I haven't read Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children so I will probably try to find the book first.
ReplyDeleteSorry about your internet problem. Hope it gets resolved soon. Love all the funny pictures! Tim Holtz's bird stamps are really cute and I like what how you have used it. The journal page looks suitably spooky but I have not read the book or seen the movie.
ReplyDeleteSo many cute things, thanks for the laughs :) And a lovely journal page.
ReplyDeleteHahaha, love those kitchen towels and the coffee cup. I can relate😂. Your halloween owl is very cute.
ReplyDeleteOH MY computer problems are never fun!
ReplyDeleteHope you got things squared away dear Linda.
I have been unplugged a bit lately with our boy here.
Only a few more weeks and he'll be moving back to Colorado.
Funny towels and that "prescription" mug is a hoot.
You are so good making art for the various holidays.
I have not been able to get into Halloween like I once did.
Everything changes I guess.
Your spooky page looks great!
The PW group activity sure sounded like fun.
I think I'll wait for that movie to watch at home.
I really want to see THE DRESSMAKER but may not make it to the theaters in time for that either.
Happy beginning of the weekend dear one oxo
Oh dear sorry about your internet Linda..I know how frustrating that is. Our window to the world. Love your card and those kitchen towels. I especially love your new creation at the bottom...it's spooktacular..not only wonderful journal page but also very fitting for the month of Halloween! Hope you are up and running soon!
ReplyDeleteHugs Giggles
Lovely work this week Linda, hope your internet smartens up, we are lost without it aren't we? Haven't seen that movie.
ReplyDeleterouters are such a pain when they go slow. I love your art and like the idea of doing art to an online book group..I like the idea of that.wonder if such a group is still running..those kitchen towels are brilliant. I would probably make a cushion out of them rather than use them though
ReplyDeleteLove love love your journal page at the end of your post!! And those towels are so much fun. Hope your internet issues are better.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations both for your internet working and your gorgeous journal pages. I'm having trouble too at the moment. My hubby has taken my laptop away with him so I'm limited with having to wait until I can borrow my sons... plus with him away I'm the all singing all doing person, with the usual chores as well as many more like mowing the lawns!
ReplyDeletePhew it's really full on, so I'm feeling a little guilty not being able to visit as many people as I'd like.
I'm not sure about that book but it vaguely seems familiar to me. I'll have to check it out to make sure.
Have a wonderful weekend with internet access too hopefully.
Happy PPF to you.
Yes, I noticed you were missing last week! It´s such a drag when the internet doesn´t work, isn´t it. Hope it'll be better from now on. Love your Halloween-card. And those kitchen-towels are hilarious :-)
ReplyDeleteHappy Sunday Linda! Hope your inet problems are fixed soon! ♥♥♥
ReplyDeleteI haven't seen the movie but love the art you created around it. All the Halloween art was so fun.

ReplyDeleteGreat inspiration -- very fun and whimsical!

ReplyDeleteHope your internet sings steadily again.
