Celebrating in July

And the celebrating began on July 1st with Canada Day- so, belated happy Canada Day to you! And Tuesday July 4th- Independence Day in the USA along with an extra day (or two if you're really lucky) off. Happy 4th!

Made these two cards for the red white and blue holiday:

Products: white, kraft card stock; patterned card stock (DCWV); images (ARTchix Studio); washi tape (Recollections); patterned tags (K & Company); blue star gemstones (Michaels); assorted fibers and ribbon.

Joining the Simon Wednesday Challenge (Anything Goes), and the Simon Monday Challenge (Red, White and/or Blue).

For T Stands For Tuesday with Bleubeard and Elizabeth:

A double size mug of green tea while avidly watching the Tour De France! They were through Germany, Belgium and Luxembourg and are now in France. What beautiful cities and countries. Dusseldorf really took my breath away. I wanna go!!

Made my first dinner in a cast iron skillet on the grill:

and it was delicious!! Chicken breasts with tomatoes, garlic, red peppers and pesto. Looking forward to trying another one skillet meal this week. Anyone have any good recipes to share??

A tag for Tag Tuesday (beach theme), and Try It On Tuesday (tag theme):

And lastly I have a journal page:

The bicycle image I found online royalty free. I used, paints, spray inks, stencils and washi tapes to coordinate with the photo. Joining Art Journal Journey hosted this month by Elizabeth (yes, the same Elizabeth that hosts T Stands for Tuesday each week) with the wonderful theme of Summertime Love!  Also joining Moo Mania and More (theme is "wheels") and Paint Party Friday later this week.

And great news!!! Our son and girlfriend found another new apartment (the last one has not come thru although first promised in-get this- March!) , got the OK and are moving in this month. That means I get my art room back completely, and there won't be any challenges using the internet system with so much computer equipment (his) running. Doing the happy dance here-and because they are close by we'll still see them often:)

What's new with you?  I'll catch up with you somewhere along the way this week and coming weekend. Be well.

  1. You certainly have a lot of patriotism and red, white, and blue in your post this evening, Linda. It's very uplifting and inspiring. Those first two tags are simply adorable, but the one you created for Tag Tuesday is fabulous. I simply adore the background color of the tag. It is AWESOME. I'd give anything to be able to create a background like that.

Your skillet meal looks wonderful. You need to talk to Kathy (KathyinOzarks) another T participant. She makes tons of meals over an open fire using a cast iron skillet. In fact, she wants to start a link up party if there is enough interest.

Your mug is beautiful. It is just the perfect size for spending time watching the Tour de France. You won't have to get up and refill it so often.

Yes, we are truly on the same wavelength with your Art Journal Journey entry. The bicycle is awesome and I adore the colors you chose, right down to the fabulous washi tape.

Thanks for sharing your fabulous tags, your wonderful chicken dish, and your large Paris mug with us for T this week. And thanks beyond belief for this first entry at Art Journal Journey. It's truly a beautiful way to pass summer in my opinion.

  5. A great post with fabulous art projects. The cards to celebrate your 4th July look super.
Your skillet meal looks delicious. I am all in favour of one pot meals as it does save the washing up chore later.

  7. What fabulous art from your patriotic cards, then the lovely beach tag and finally that beautiful journal page! We have been glued to the TV - far too much - watching the first stages of the Tour De France and like you we loved the views of Dusseldorf - so much that hubby has looked up rail prices already!! I have still to show him the video on Valerie's post today!!! We love one pot meals - I will have to look out some of our recipes! Good news on the apartment - it's going to get quiet around your place soon! Happy T day! Chrisx

  10. You were busy! Love the tags. Your skillet meal looks delicious. I've thought about getting a cast-iron skillet, but have a glass cooktop and don't know if I could use it. Your mug and map are perfect to watch the Tour De France. And happy you getting your craft room back, but still having your son close by. Best of both worlds.

  11. Lots of wonderful art here today, Linda. Where do I begin? The red, white and blue tag cards are so cheery. I love the little patriot girl and need to check out ARTchix Studio. Great tag for the beach and tag themes. It's perfectly color coordinated in every detail. I like that open weave scrap and wish I knew where to find some - or even what to call it. It's quite unusual.

The Timeless page is stunning. Perfect color coordination once again. You really have a gift for tying a page together. I love the stamped off word that fades into the background.

    Happy T-Day! Hugs, Eileen

Great to see your 4th of July cards, we don't see many of them here.
Enjoy the Tour de France - it's Wimbledon tennis we're watching here.

  24. Lovely red, white and blue tags. Very tasteful.
Oh my, those chicken breasts look very yummy. I have a skillet like that but don't use it very often (it's heavy and I need to ask my husband to get it down from the shelf!). But you have inspired me.
That is good news about your son having found a new apartment. Yeehah!
    Happy (belated) T-Day,

  25. Love your art this week Very festive and in the spirit of the holiday ♥ I had to work yesterday but I really didn't mind. We had no plans and anything we would have done would have been in the evening after I got off. As it was we finished rearranging Anthony's old bedroom into a guest room and the closet into a gun storage space for Bob. I get part of my art room back :) Happy belated T Day!
