It's gotten cold, and two major holidays are fast approaching! Are you ready for it? I think I'm doing pretty well. Just finished my prototypes for both my Thanksgiving cards and Christmas cards and have begun working on them. I am also ready with my new calendar journal for next year! Fingers crossed I stay ahead now:)
First up, for T Stands for Tuesday I'll share the dinner I had the other weekend when we went to Stefano's Restaurant again and met with my oldest BFF (and I don't mean she's old-we're the same age. I mean that she has been my dearest friend for over 50 years now!!) and her hubby for a great time!
I had the cheese tortellini with pesto along with the house salad, bread and dipping sauce, water and merlot. Of course I got two meals out of this, and it was a special treat for me! Hubby doesn't like tortellinis so I don't make it at home. Share something beverage related - whether it's a photo, a painting, poem, art project, etc. and join us. It's such a lovely group with many varied and interesting posts. There is a linkup every Tuesday at our wonderful host's blog!
For the new Simon Monday Challenge (Make Your Own Background) and Tag Tuesday Challenge( Poppies) :
The tag background: yellow, light green and red acrylic paints. Script stamp (Love To Stamp) stamped repeatedly using Archival Leaf Green ink. Spatter stamp (Inky Antics AOP Long Hair Flair stamp set) repeatedly stamped with Versafine Onyx Black ink.
Finished tag:
Larger view:
To the background I stenciled the flowers (Magenta) using black acrylic paint. The sentiment rubber stamp(Magenta) was stamped on white card stock using the Versafine black ink then edges were sponged. Washi tape at bottom is Dina Wakley. Tag edges were also sponged with the black ink and a fabric bow (Offray) was added at the top.
And I have a journal page meant for Paint Party Friday, and Art Journal Journey hosted this month by the lovely Erika who has chosen the theme of Vintage or Modern.
I would definitely label this modern. Fun and messy with lots of bits layered over the painted, stenciled background. The image is Dina Wakley as is the little strip of washi tape (blue).Layering stencil(Clocks) is Tim Holtz, circles stencil is TCW. And of course, the sentiment is Small Talk Snarky Stickers from Tim Holtz :) I am having SO much fun with those stickers and have a few more journal pages to show soon using more of them!
Thanks so much for your comments which are always appreciated. Have a great week. See ya soon!

Your tag is beautiful. It's wonderful how you were able to incorporate two different challenges using the same background. Of course, I love the poppies. Such a great time to use them, too.
ReplyDeleteI am in LOVE with this modern piece you created for Erika's theme at AJJ. I was thrilled to see all those layers, and using fabric and thread added to the uniqueness of the entry. Thanks for sharing it with us at Art Journal Journey, Linda.
Oh wow. I love tortellini. Cheese and pesto. Two of my favorites. This has me hungry now. I'll join you for water, but I'm NOT a fan of Merlot. It is dry and tastes bad in my opinion. I guess it's an acquired taste.
Thanks for sharing your lovely art, your meal, and your drinks with us for T this Tuesday, Linda.
Beautiful journal page with the many layers, and tag. The poppy tag is just gorgeous, thanks so much for joining us again at Tag Tuesday. Glad you were able to meet up with our friend and enjoy tortellini, yummy! Happy T Day, hugs, Valerie

I'm lucky if I get Christmas cards out on time, never mind adding Thanksgiving cards. I'm impressed. Your dinner is making me hungry. Love the remembrance tag. You turned something old into something very modern with that color palette. The teen page is so perfect with that quote. Have a lovely T Day
ReplyDeleteHi Linda,
ReplyDeleteI am loving your artsy and messy journal page. That image is the perfect focal point. And your tag is so bright. Love these works of art today.
Sounds like a wonderful friendship to have lasted 50 years! Your meal looks delicious.
Thanks for letting me know the photos in my post didn't work. Something must have happened when my website was transferred. It is all fixed now if you care to have a look.
Happy Tea Day,
Kate
I love tortellini, and merlot sounds perfect with it. It's time to start looking ahead, isn't when, especially when you create your own cards :) Happy T Tuesday

ReplyDeleteSorry I'm late. Tuesday is my busiest day and I don't get to see my computer until after 10 pm.
ReplyDeleteYep, I love tortellini. And cheese and pesto sounds really nice. %0 years is a long time tobe friends. I have a friend like that. Our friendship dates from 1971 so not quite 50 years yet.
I love your Remembrance tag. Very beautiful. Goes to show that you don't necessarily have to have red poppies.
I like your background work. Your second art piece could easily be a scrapbook page (if it had a photo in it). Looks great.
Happy belated T-Day,
Lisca
Good for you for getting ahead of the game, Linda. I had a good start on the upcoming holidays. But then I fell behind. Oh well. I say "What gets done, gets done. What doesn't wasn't important."
