Winter Greetings?

Hello peeps! How's the weather in your parts? Although last week we had a cold day with a bit of snow, this weekend was absolutely glorious!! Saturday we had a record high of 66 F, and Sunday got to 65. I even went out to clean some windows on the outside and cleaned up in the back yard a bit:) It was a joy to grill for dinner and not be bundled up to do it! However, it IS January after all and expected to get pretty cold by the end of the week.

Thinking about what else but the beach and hoping to make some scheduled dates and reservations for Cape May real soon. Until then I'll enjoy reminiscing the wonderful times last year. And today I will remember all the great food we enjoyed, such as this:

One of several places we frequent while there is Hemingways. I had (again) the veggie burger along with a glass of Chardonnay while hubby had the crab cake sandwich and a beer. Yum! Cheers to the T Stands For Tuesday gang!
Oh, and on an aside as I know some of the T Gang talk about movies.... hubby and I recently saw Rocket Man about Elton John, and Judy - about Judy Garland starring Renee Zellweger. We deemed them both excellent - 5 stars out of 5!!! The acting was just fantastic! After Rocket Man all I wanted to do was to be able to give Elton John a big hug. And I admit I cried after watching Judy- just such a tragic, short life she lived. Have any of you seen either of these movies, and what did you think?

Here is the full journal page from which the detail photo at the opening of this post was taken:

and here is how it started:

with new and old Tim Holtz Collage Tissue papers. Other products: Dina Wakley stencil (heart); Dina Wakley paints- Ruby, Tangerine , Lemon. Various brands of blue, black, white, and red paint; Dylusions Basic Backgrounds stamp set; recycled postage stamp. Joining Art Journal Journey (theme is something new), and Try It On Tuesday (what a cutie or make someone smile).

For the Simon Wednesday Challenge (theme is Fun With Florals):

Why not a green flower?  Stamps and dies on card, and stencil are from Altenew . Stamps on the envie are Magenta. Moonshine sequins from Simon Says Stamp.

For the new theme at the Simon Monday Challenge (Rust It Up), and Tag Tuesday (Winter Scenes):

Distress tag, Vintage Photo and Tea Dye inks (Ranger); Tim Holtz Paper Dolls, ChitChat Seasonal Stickers; Rust Tapestry embossing powder, ribbons, yarn, tiny buttons, patterned paper scrap from my stash; background is a Gelli Plate deli paper print.

And lastly I will share this postcard I recently made using a beautiful fox napkin I received from my friend Patty over the holidays ( I shared the goodies I received in my last post):

I just adore this sweet fox image.

Joining over at Paint Party Friday also with this week's projects. Thanks so much for your visits!

I loved all of your art pieces this week-all just beautiful my favorite would have to be the fox--I have been reading and learning more about mixed media techniques-totally new to me as I usually work with fibers. fun so far.
    Happy T wishes Kathy

    Hmmm, you make me hungry!
Sadly I´ve seen neither of the movies.

Oh, and the winter greetings! Wise last words, too.

  4. Your food photos looked delicious, crab cakes would have been my choice.
Fantastic art projects, the journal page looks bright and happy, thank you for sharing them with us at Try it on Tuesdays as well as Jo's theme at Art Journal Journey.
Our weather problems are the winds, the snow has yet to appear but that could all change in the coming days.
    Happy T day wishes Linda.

  8. My sincere apologies. As your host, I knew I had to show up for T, but it took everything I had to climb out of bed. I am running a fever of 101.8 F (38.8 C). I appreciate you sharing your drink with us this T Tuesday. And I love the fox tag and journal page, too, dear Linda.

  9. Winter has been strange this year, making me feel like spring is here already even though I know it's not. I understand how your mind is on the shore and that great restaurant. The food looks sooo tasty! I'd love to try the crab cake. I haven't seen either of those movies as I tend not to see biographical films about people I remember, but I've heard good things about these movies. I'm glad you enjoyed them :) I love your bright colors on this gray morning, and I love that encouragement to give someone a reason to smile :) Happy T Tuesday!

  10. I love your journal page and the sentiment you chose for it. Our winter has been wacky this year too. This past week it has been frosty in the mornings and getting into the 50' range, I thought we would get snow here in the valley a couple of times.
We are crab cake lovers, so your food had my full attention. Hard to find good crab cakes in the valley, so they are always on the menu when we go over to the coast.
Thank you for the lovely comments this week......Happy T-day

  13. We had gorgeous weather over the weekend, too. Yup, dreaming about beach weather. Food looks fabulous. Beautiful pages and cards. I really love that fox. Happy T Day

  14. I'm a beach dreamer too, Linda. Nice warm sunny beachs; there's nowhere else I'd rather be. But not on an east coast beach in January! Brrr ...

Thank you for showing your background and then finished page. I love them both. You may have noticed I'm working on making backgrounds ahead of time. It helps to see how other artists differentiate. I have a hard time separating the two stages.

I love the green card and envelope. I think you might have another SSS winner.

Gosh, you could submit that rust colored fox to the Rust it Up challenge as well.

What a fun post. I haven't seen either movie; but now I want to.

    Happy T-day! Eileen xx

  16. Happy T day Linda. I am with you about thinking about the beach, especially when you get one of those spring like weekends. Wasn't it fantastic? You shared some gorgeous art with us today. And I saw the Elton John film bu not Judy, and now I am very curious to see that. Thanks for sharing it. I hope it was a great T day. It's been a busy day at work and I couldn't get on to comment until now. Hugs-Erika

  19. It's always a joy to visit your blog, Linda and you never fail to surprise me with all your different media. Love your journal page. Wonderful colours and a fab background. I also love the cards, the tag and the postcard. Good idea to focus on the beach at this time of year, lol...it won't be too long now! The days are already starting to lengthen here and that means more art!
Thank you for sharing with Try it on Tuesday.

  20. I love your Art journal page Linda! It is impressive, beautiful and very bright colours.
    Happy T-day !!
I really like the birthday card, and that tag, and also your page with that beautiful fox.
I haven't seen those movies, but I'm sure they are very interesting and emotional.
Here we have a pleasant temperature, about 15º C, of course, we are in southern Spain!
Wish you have a very nice Thursday, and send big hugs,
    Caty

  23. Yummmm your food looks scrumptious!
Your card is beautiful and I love the fox page too. The tag with the vintage photo made me smile.
Lucky you to have seen those movies. I would love to see them but I will have to wait a long time before I can see them. Here in Spain, they dub everything in spanish, so I'll have to wait for the DVD. My hubby and I are both Elton John fans.
We have had no snow yet, and very little in the mountains. I think they make artificial snow for the ski pistes, as there has been a lot of skiing during the Xmas holidays. (Granada has a ski resort) It has been lovely and sunny all week. I sit out in the sun every afternoon on the terrace outside our living room/kitchen and read. At 5:30 the sun disappears behind the mountains and the temperature drops too.
Sorry for the late comment. We have been helping friends move house (They are now living within walking distance)
    Belated happy T-Day,
    Hugs,
    Lisca

Great pictures of your meal, looks delicious and how nice to be able to be outside in January, our weather is either grey or very windy, but as yet no snow.
    Have a great day,

  29. Oh that burger looks so good right now!!! And the wine! :)) Our weather is horrid, -25...and your message could not have come at a better time. As I type this, I am on hold and have been arguing with my roadside emergency service for the last 40 minutes, they are insisting I pay for the emergency service...ugh...why did I pay for membership??? My car is stuck in the ice in my driveway and I'm a sour puss because I was supposed to be out of the house 2 hours ago!...but I saw your message "have you given someone a reason to smile today?" and I immediately started to count my blessings and I just brought my hubby a tea in bed. He smiled. I feel better. I'm even going to be nicer to the poor lady when she takes me off hold. Linda, you never know how you will change a person's mood, day or life!! Well done and thank you! Your pieces are so lovely! :)
