A Joyful Time

Mr. and Mrs. Todd Kunsman 💓

Happy November! I am forewarning you all that this is a photo laden post- mostly wedding related but I will post some art at the end if you want to just scroll down;)

Last Thursday was the rehearsal and dinner which went well considering it rained ALL day and evening. That meant having the rehearsal in the barn house rather than outside. We all prayed it would end for the wedding the next day-and it did!! However, it was very windy and bitterly cold making it quite uncomfortable for most of us, but, we got through it!

Here are some pics from the beginning. We don't have too many because we chose not to keep our phones out much of the time. It was more important to be in each moment of this special time. Some of these photos are from other wedding party members.  We'll  get all the photos we want from the professional photographers at a later date.

Kyra and the bridal party began early Fri AM with champagne and a limo ride to the venue. Her mother and myself arrived a few hours later. The champagne is my drink reference to get in to T Stands For Tuesday this week 😀

A few photos of the venue and surroundings:

The door just below the first window is the bridal suite where we spent much of the day getting hair and makeup done and then dressing. The guys had their suite around the corner.

Fun pics before getting  dressed- but it was SOOOO COLD!!

The guys all ready to go:

and a very excited father of the groom as well:

They were married by Kyra's uncle.

and a few more photos after the ceremony while guests went to a covered but open air pavilion for cocktails:

                                         mother of the bride Laura

                      with Kyra's grandmother (Laura's Mom)

                           with Todd's grandmother (my Mom)

                                   Todd and I

Just one more for this post:

In the next post I will share pics of the barn house reception. FYI: masks were available for EVERYONE and the staff were all required to have theirs on at all times. No one was made uncomfortable in any way, and it was up to the wedding party  and guests  whether or not they wanted to wear a mask.

Thanks if you stuck with me here-now on to art!

This was done on a watercolor page in the Dina Wakley Blue Journal. I used DW paints, stencils, collage tissue faces and words, and a leaf stamp from the Be Willing stamp set. The background was painted using a technique from one of Dina's free Daily Demo videos about resist techniques.

This page is meant for the Try It On Tuesday challenge (Embossed), and the new Art Journal Journey challenge for November (Birds) with guest host Wendy:

and a detail shot of the embossing paste I used through a stencil:

Page Details: Dina wakley Black Media Journal; DW paints- Cheddar, Olive, Night, Lemon. DW stencil-Leafy. Liquitex black, white inks. Wonder sentiment is a Tim Holtz stamp. Fall leaves were fussy cut from a napkin, and the bird was fussy cut from a magazine. I extended the branch with brown and black paint. Images were outlined using a black Stabilo All pencil and water brush.

Linking this post to Paint Party Friday as well. Happy week everyone!

  1. I was excited to see some wedding photos. What a gorgeous venue. Too bad it was chilly. But it looks like everyone had fun from all those smiling faces. And I enjoyed seeing your art too. The Baltimore oriole looks fantastic on your artsy background. Its a great page and perfect for AJJ. Thanks for joining Wendy's challenge. And have a happy T day. Hugs-Erika

  5. Wow, Linda. I was here last night, but fell asleep in my chair and didn't realize I hadn't left a comment. I really LOVED seeing the wedding photos and the preparation for the event. It was a beautiful venue and they picked well. The photos are fabulous. One thing I want to say is, your son looks SO much like his father in several of the photos. I look forward to seeing the "official" photos, too.

I can't imagine how you found time to create art with all the events going on around you. Your journal pages are amazing and the one that highlights Wendy's theme at Art Journal Journey made me especially proud. Thanks for sharing it. Thanks, too for sharing Kyra's champagne limo trip to the event, as well as all the other photos of the big day with us at T this Tuesday.

  7. Thanks for sharing the wedding photos, Linda. Everytone looked terrific and happy, despite the cold. I've never seen a limo that long! Holy cow, how does a driver manuever that around corners?!

Lovely pages. I especially like the bird one - lovely bright colors and yummy texture.

Happy T-Day. Stay safe and stay well. Hugs, Eileen

  8. Weddings have been hard. My daughter was in a wedding a few months ago, and they made every effort to be careful, and nobody associated with the event got sick. It's just so hard to plan these things. That looks like the perfect venue!

    Happy T Tuesday

  12. What a happy post! Congratulations to all of you! I'm so glad it went well although it was cold. I suppose it had to be outside with Covid etc.
Holy moly, that is a limo and a half! I must say I prefer the pick-up truck. The barn is beautiful and I can imagine it was the perfect venue.
The bride looked gorgeous. And didn't everyone look smart. You too, so pretty in that lovely dress.
Looking forward to seeing more photos.
    Happy T-Day,
    Stay safe,

  18. Gorgeous artwork! I especially love the bird piece. Great photos from the wedding. I'm glad the weather cooperated. Here in Connecticut, for awhile, wedding venues were closed due to covid-19. Then, as we entered different phases, they were allowed to open, but with a limit on the number of people. Now our Governor is going back to Phase 2, which adversely affects wedding venues, as well as other things. I'm not sure how places can remain in business, with the rules changing without much advanced notice. Happy T-Day!

  27. Such a wonderful time you had. Now I hope they will live happily ever after. Not only the couple actually, all of you. This week will be a happy memory.

Thanks for the tip about alcohol inks or markers, I don´t have any but I´ll see if there are shops online that are selling them. I do have a lot of paper so ink would be great. :)

  29. Oh how I love a wedding. And what a gorgeous wedding this was. Your new daughter is a very pretty girl and they make a striking couple. I was going to say what a beautiful dress the bride was wearing, always something I enjoy at weddings, but then I saw what the mothers were wearing and I thought how beautiful the three of you looked. So I could not single the bride out as you were all gorgeous.
Love your artwork - the vibrant colours of the piecke with the bird are beautiful and I do like the figure in the other page. Lovely work Linda.
    Hugs, Neet xx

  32. Linda, what a beautiful wedding y'all had! I am so happy it went off well! I know what a relief it is for you. The weather for an outdoor ceremony is such a gamble. Our DD's outdoor wedding was Feb. 1st. Even down here in Texas it was a miracle: a spring like sunny day. I still marvel at that. And of course right before the COVID caused all havoc with plans, so I think the timing was a blessing for you guys on both accounts, even thougb it was cold. I also have enjoyed all your art. That bird! From a magazine? What a lucky find and your state bird as well, right? I memorized a lot of that in Geography class but my memory ain't so good anymore. Take care, get your mental rest now, enjoy a major milestone successfully achieved! XOX
