Last Week in January

This month has flown by hasn't it? And that makes me happy as we inch our way towards the sunlight lasting longer, and Spring approaching! We have been quite lucky here thus far weather-wise, but after all, it is winter and so we are bracing for snow and ice 😔. Fingers crossed it won't be too bad or dangerous with a prediction of 5 inches. I'll be inside all day making a nice pot of Italian Wedding soup and playing in my art room of course.

The cold weather seems to have hubby even more hungry so I've been baking a lot too. Last week it was applesauce muffins. This past weekend I made dark cherry scones and pumpkin squares (some of the pumpkin squares went to our new next door neighbor, to our son and daughter in law, and a few went into the freezer) and today I just pulled a blueberry muffin cake from the oven. The only bit I enjoyed myself was the cherry scones-with a cup of coffee of course and this is my entry for T Stands For Tuesday:

                                                           Cheers!

This is my last entry for the theme of "Favorite Things" at Art Journal Journey  hosted by Erika:

It started as a mop up page on a watercolor page in the  Dina Wakley Blue Media Journal. I stamped and cut out the leaf from her Be willing set, and face from her Sketched faces set. Just a bit of stitching, Dina Wakley Collage Collective, washi tape and some of her Collage tissue words were added. These are a few of my favorite things 😁

One more Dina Wakley journal page:

Dina Wakley stamps, stencils, Gloss Sprays, Words collage tissue, Collage Collective.

And now something different! I mentioned in other posts that Darkroom Door Stamps has a moodboard challenge each month on Instagram and anyone that enters has a chance to win a stamp set and stencil of choice from the company. For January the moodboard was not about a color palette but about using the Gelli Plate to make prints. So I got out my 5" x 7" plate and made a handful of postcard backgrounds. Here are the first two completed cards (I'll share more as I finish them). I'm keeping them flat so that I can send them out as happy mail:)

Obviously I was in a snarky mood😆. Gotta love those Tim Holtz stickers!

Happy to join in at Paint Party Friday as well again! Stay safe and well.

  1. That is a whole lot of ice Linda. I hope you don't get it. We are suppose to get a little bit of snow from the storm tomorrow night, but only an inch or maybe 2. That is a lot easier than 5 inches of ice. And you have been baking a lot. It all sounds delicious. And thanks so much for sharing your journal page at Art Journal Journey. Much appreciated. I like that tape. I haven't seen that. Enjoy your day inside making art and stay safe. Hugs-Erika

  2. Yes, can you believe January is almost over.
Here snow usually hits in February, I hope it won´t (we had snow already, that´s enough!).
Hmmmm, I just defrosted some of the stuff I had baked. Home-made bread and pimped butter, yum. We have to see the positive side of this crisis, right.
Love your works, yes, always listen to your inner voice!
    Happy T-day!

  8. I can tell you have a love of Dina Wakley stamps and stencils. Both pages are beautiful and I'm delighted you chose to share one with us at Art Journal Journey using Erika's theme.

You always amaze me with how much beauty comes from your gelli plate. I, on the other hand, can't seem to make it work for me. Your postcards are prize worthy indeed, dear.

I had never heard of wedding soup before, but I sure like your cherry scone and your coffee in the artsy mug. Thanks for sharing your incredible art, your postcards, and your scones and coffee with us for T this Tuesday, dear Linda.

  10. I like the postcards that you made for the Darkroom Door challenge. The backgrounds are so abstract. Not your usual bright palette but I like it.
And of course, your Dina Wakely pages are fabulous.
Yum! I will have a cherry scone! This sounds delicious with a cup of tea. In fact, all your treats this week sound good.
    Happy Tea Day,
    Kate

Your gelli plate postcards are beautiful. I love that word 'snarky'. I don't know that word, but somehow I understand exactly what you mean.

  19. I have tried to stay away from the sweet stuff but seeing your list of makes I think it is futile to resist any longer and I have a recipe book on my lap!! Cherry scones and coffee sounds like a great treat for this afternoon! We have had so many great days here, the snow came and went very quickly although we do have some in todays forecast! Your Dina pages are fabulous - I am getting ready to use the papers I made way back when Dina came to England for some workshops at one of my favourite craft shops - it was such a great day shared with friends! Love those gelli printed cards too! A very belated Happy T day, Chrisx

  33. Wow, lots of fun creations (pages, cards and food - I love pumpkin squares and make them twice a week - whole 30 style). Love the words "listen to your inner voice" because last night I was trying to talk to one of my 5 year old grandsons about inner voices - he says he doesn't have one. We chatted for 10 minutes about it and I am pretty sure he has one that just says play with your toys. LOL! Hugz

  34. Hi Linda :) I love the idea of being inside, all nice and cozy in your art room! The scones look lovely and Italian Wedding soup sounds very comforting! Your cards are great, I love the snarkiness lol! :)

  35. Gosh that baking you did sounds wonderful - I think I would have to try everything.
Love both of your Dina pages. Gorgeous faces and composition. But the Gelli prints are what took my eye - they are fantastic. Why do i not get results like that? They have both made fabulous cards - the old black and white movie stars look perfect against that background,
    Hugs, Neet xx

  37. "be amazed at you" I can say yes to that. As a young women I wanted to go to Australia to work. Did not work at that time, no money and hard rules. But I visited in 2014. And travelled to many contries I did not ever knew existed :)
    Take care!

  38. Beautiful art! As far as the cooking and baking, I think we've all been doing a lot of it lately, and I can't blame it on winter because I'm in Florida! Here I am just about to make a fresh batch of chocolate chip muffins with my 2 year old!
