This Week's Musings

Well, we are into the second week in January, so, have you gotten all the holiday decor put away? Finally I got everything done and put away over the weekend! And not just that, but we also did some cleaning out and then some deep house cleaning such as shampooing all the carpeting.  By the evenings we were beat and just sat on the couch watching  movies.

Believe it or not we still have some Christmas cards trickling in and they had been postmarked with mid December dates! We were told that mail delivery (at least in parts of our city) hasn't been done on a daily basis and the mailing departments are overwhelmed and short of help. We've never experienced anything like this before. The main concern is bills coming in late:(. Oh well, not much we can do.

My latest happy mail... I wish to thank Erika for this beautiful New Years Card!:

I have this to share with the T Stands For Tuesday peeps:

Our daughter in law gave hubby a special 6 pack of beer for Christmas, and here is a close up of what she did to the bottles:

ha ha- isn't this cute? Yuengling Black and Tan reindeer beers🤣 I'm not so much a beer drinker so we still have a few reindeer beers looking at us when we open the fridge! Cheers!

I've been having so much fun playing with my favorite mediums and supplies (kind of an obsession lately especially)...

Dina Wakley products! I created this page  in one of her journals, and I used her paints, stamps, stencils, gloss sprays, Collage Collective papers, tissue papers, washi tape. Of course I am joining Art Journal Journey with the theme of "Favorite Things".

I could also add this page as well but I will link this  to Try It On Tuesday for the theme of "Use an uplifting quote" :

 All Dina Wakley supplies again😁

During the holidays I played with her stamps, stencils, scribble sticks, paints and gloss sprays to make a new stash of collage fodder:

I would spend some evenings fussy cutting it all. And then I decided to have a bit of play with the pile and did this:

I created  temporary botanical mandalas using my cut outs! Fun!

And that's all for now folks. Joining Paint Party Friday with this post as usual- such a fun way to see a nice variety of art each week!

A bientôt (French for "see you soon")!

" Happiness is a perfume which you cannot pour on someone without getting some on yourself."    Ralph Waldo Emerson

  1. Love how you played with your cut outs, and made temporary mandalas. We crafters love to have fun, don't we? Reindeer beer! LOL Your Dina Wakely journal page is fun! Happy T Day!

  2. Starting the year with the house all cleaned up including the rugs -- sounds wonderful! So many of my neighbors seem to wait forever to take down their decorations. I think the lights on the fence next door were left until June last year -- maybe this year the neighbor will just leave them up permanently!

  10. Oh my goodness Linda. Those last 2 pieces of fussy cut art pieces took my breath away. You should frame those. (I'm working backwards today from your post.) Thanks for the gorgeous art pieces for AJJ and also for Try It On Tuesday. Much appreciated. Glad the card arrived too. I think I forgot to take photos of the couple of cards I got for Christmas including yours-BIG apologies. I will have to go get them from the pile and post. I am also cleaned up from Christmas but good for you to do some deep cleaning. I need to do that. Isn't it nice to start the new year nice and clean? And lastly, loving those cute beer bottles. They would be fun for a party. Hope the new year is going well. Hugs-Erika

  17. Again a very hearty thank you for the lovely cards you sent me. At least that mail got through alright.
Those fussy cut mandalas are awesome! I agree that they should be framed!

  18. I love the wreath card you made for Lisca. I love your art - period.

I'm taking my Christmas decorations a little at a time, because I've had some health issues and have to take it easy until the doctors decide how to fix me.

Your daughter in law is clever and talented like you. No wonder you get along so well.

Great journal pages using Dina Wakley supplies. Very clever to fussy cut leaves to use as masks AND then using them to create a pretty arrangement of multicolored leaves.

Happy T-day! Stay safe out there. Hugs, Eileen

  20. I was by last night, then got called away. I also had a ton of paperwork I was trying to get out today, which sucked up my time. I'm sorry I'm late visiting. I always take my Christmas decorations down the day after Christmas except this year. I left everything until Epiphany was over. Everything's been down since the 6th. I doubt I'll wait that long again, but it made me smile when I saw all the festivities and I needed that.

You created some beautiful journal pages. Both are fabulous, and I was delighted you shared one with us at Art Journal Journey.

Your fussy cut mandala is wonderful. My fingers would cramp before it was finished, I fear.

LOVE your husband's beer, even if I don't drink it. Your DIL is very clever and has the same crafting gene as you. Thanks for sharing your incredible art and your husband's beer with us for T this Tuesday, dear.

BTW, the goodies in the jewelry boxes are permanent and will not be used for anything other than to sit in the boxes.

Your art today is lovely! I love the floral bits that you cut out and then created the mandala. SO pretty.
We too have had very slow mail service. We weren't sure why but what you said makes sense.
Sorry I am a bit late making it around.
    Happy belated Tea day,

  31. Happy New Year, Linda! Just had a catch up, always so enjoyable seeing your art as it's very different style from mine. I'm 30 miles east of Houston and we have been having problems receiving mail as well as it taking longer locally to send. I waited 3 weeks for a first class package to arrive from Florida when it used to take almost a week. I really hope it's not the new normal. Have fun with Dina, XOXO
