March Is Here and Soon Spring!

How's everything peeps? Any signs of spring in your parts? We had another week of up and down weather- from some wet snow, to two warm and sunny days which really helped melt away our huge piles of snow everywhere, to a full night and day of rain Sunday, and now March has begun- and so have the wind gusts today! The birds are singing like it's spring but the flowers and budding trees are a bit behind here this year.

But no matter the weather I do love to grill and so I recently made tuna steaks for dinner:

I also had a small dish of homemade horseradish sauce to top the tuna steaks but didn't have it on the table yet when I took the photo:) Cheers to the T Stands For Tuesday peeps! And again- my apologies to Karen M-I am not able to leave a comment on your Wordpress blog :(  but I do visit.

Art Journal Journey has a new theme this month - A Single Flower - chosen by guest host Sheila,  the new challenge at the Simon Says Monday Challenge blog is "Art Journal",  and the new theme for Try It On Tuesday is "Say it with Flowers" so I literally just did these pages  in my Curvy Journal before typing this post:

Below I will show the start of this handmade journal along with other completed pages. Denise Lush shared her curvy book on Instagram and if you click on her name you can find the template for it on her blog if you want to give it a go!

I used a heavy grey cardstock for the pages and chose to stencil them all. I used mostly Dina Wakley stencils and a Dylusions stencil on two pages. I then doodled the edges of each page with a black Posca pen. For this spread I painted the wide curvy lines with black acrylic paint then wrote the words in with a white Posca pen. The strips were then lined with a pink and a black Posca pen to bring them out more. The girl and the flower is from Dina Wakley stamp sets. I used markers to color the girl and Dina Wakley Scribble sticks to paint the flower and leaves. I then used a fine tip black pen to add more scribbly lines to the stamped images and finished with the quote. Everybody has a soul story. Don't you agree?

And here is the start of the book along with more completed pages. I chose not to bind the book until all the pages are complete. I'm not finishing them necessarily in order either😉:

                                                 The cover

                                         Inside cover and page

The botanicals on the left were drawn on Dina Wakley Collage Collective paper using a black Posca pen. The face images on the right are Dina Wakley stamps as is the leaf.

And another journal page in the Dina Wakley Black Media Journal:

I'm also happy to join with Paint Party Friday- as long as the blog is continued. Our wonderful hosts of ten years EVA and Kristin last week posted that they may make the decision to end the party. I would really miss it but they have to do what they feel is right for them. I've met SO many fellow bloggers and creative artists through PPF 💓

Wishing you all a great week and weekend. I'll be around to visit but unfortunately some of your blogs won't allow me to leave comments (mostly the Wordpress blogs where there is no option for me to sign in with Google).

  1. We too are waiting for spring, but know it probably won't be here for another month. The earliest spring flowers here don't show up until April in most years. We have also had some convenient melty days lately, though, so the piles of snow are not as deep. And it was warm enough to drive the car through a carwash and get rid of some of the mud.

  2. It's exciting it is March, isn't it? We finally got the snow off the grill the other day when it hit 50. Yahoo. Your tuna looks delicious. And thanks for your single flower page for AJJ. I love this curvy book. It looks great-and what a great idea too. Hope you have a super T day and Happy March too. Hugs-Erika

  3. I was totally impressed with that curvy book you are making. It already looks wonderful. I look forward to seeing how you continue working on it and binding it. It's also a lovely entry for Sheila's theme at Art Journal Journey, too.

The tuna steak looks wonderful, but so do the fries and peas. Thanks for sharing your incredible meal and wine with us for T this Tuesday, dear Linda. This is a very colorful meal and journal, too.

  5. That is a pretty amazing handmade journal, Linda, and I will certainly check the link. The single flower right at the start (deep pink with lime leaves, a great combination) won me over and to see it on the full page was special. The black patterned pages and pockets are an intriguing background for the colourful images.
Thanks for making this lovely flower for the challenge.

  7. We thought Spring had arrived but it's disappeared again, mind you in Spain it's no sooner turning warm than it's baking hot!
I love your journal with the curvy pages, I like how you've written in the curves.
Funnily enough I don't like fresh Tuna, years of eating tinned I think, I think it's the meaty texture I don't like for some reason, the rest of the family love it.
    Happy T Day

  11. I'm blown away by your curvy book! It is beautiful!
Tuna steaks! Yum! I will definitely grill some when hubby is home again, as he has got into the habit of eating fish while in hospital.
March is usually the worst month here. While most of the winter months are fairly warm and sunny, February and March are very cold and blustery. Come soon spring!
    Happy T-Day,
    Lisca

  15. Our weather has been up and down as well but I know spring will be here and that is exciting!
Your tuna steaks looks yummy. Hubby won't let me touch the grill but he makes delicious steaks. I guess I am not patient enough to work the grill.
I am interested how you make your homemade horseradish. I would love to make some but I am unable to find the root at our grocery stores.
Your curvy book is turning out to be fabulous. I love the color and pattern contrasts. I am going to check out that template.
    Happy Tea Day,
    Kate

  16. Still snow on the ground and last night and today, ferocious winds. But that's March. Your florals are also welcome signs of Spring but not for another couple of months. Interesting and beautiful book structure. Ending the day with tuna on the grill sounds perfect. Happy T Day

  19. We have signs of Spring but it is still quite cool! My planters are looking a bit bleak as they need Spring flowers but the garden centre is out of our area and we can't visit for a few weeks more yet! I love you Journal pages and your flower page is perfect for both AJJ and Try It On Tuesday so thanks for joining us! Belated Happy T Day, Chrisx

  22. Today we have rain but we have had some lovely days heralding Spring for us, slightly nippy but lovely sunshine too. And the crocus are up and some daffodils are in bud so it all makes me feel much happier. Plus the figures for the dreadful virus are down - maybe we can go out and enjoy the spring (after the 12th April).
Love all the pages for the book - what a great idea - I have often thought of making a book and binding it later, good thinking. The cover is lovely and I do like the curves - did you do that freehand or is it a bought book? Great DW Journal page too - love the colours.
    Hugs, Neet xx
