This and That

Hi peeps! Are most of you enjoying some summer heat? I'm spending so much time outside that not much is getting done inside lately. I'm just taking in all I can and loving all the bird visitors- especially the hummingbirds 💓

I'll start with a journal spread I had done a little while ago and will join in again at Art Journal Journey for the theme of butterflies. Above is the left page in my Dina Wakley kraft journal. Here is the right page:

and the pages side by side:

For the flower I followed a tutorial on Instagram for painting a whimsical flower using gouache. I don't have any gouache (do I really need another product?😜) so I used Dina Wakley acrylic paints along with a white Posca pen and black fine line pen.

There is a new theme over at Tag Tuesday (Tag on a Tag), and a new theme at the Simon Says Monday Challenge (Beautiful Blooms) and I am joining with this tag:

Lg. tag (Ranger); small tag - unknown; Tim Holtz paper Dolls, Small talk Stickers, Floral Collage Paper; small text clear stamp (PaperTrey ink); Versafine Onyx Black ink; Recollections- washi tape, tiny brad, paper flower; bee- napkin piece.

And before I get to my latest batch of Index Card art let's have a treat:

and it was as sublime tasting as it looks!!! It's called a Tuscan Zucchetto cake which four of us shared at Viggiano's in West Cape May one evening . Layers of a sponge cake, cream, and chocolate mousse drizzled with two sauces and crushed toasted nuts. Look hard and you will see my ticket in for T Stands For Tuesday where we share a beverage related post. On the upper left corner is a partial view of an espresso and  a carafe of water, along with two wine bottle corks. Cheers!

 My latest index card art:

                                                                              8/61

             9/61

                                                                            10/61

                                                                          11/61

                                                                         12/61

                                                                        13/61

                                                                         14/61

I'm using index card backgrounds using a host of Gelli Plate printed techniques taught by Birgit Koopsen. Note Elizabeth on the last one I used another piece of the beautiful handmade paper you gifted me with😸

Also joining Paint Party Friday later this week. Have a good one everyone!

  1. I love your journal spread Linda. I'm glad you added butterflies so you could join into Mia's challenge. Thank you. And your ICADs and tag are also great. I made a bee tag today too, must be this summer season. And your dessert looks to die for. I would certainly enjoy that too. Too bad you can't share a taste over the internet. Hope your weather stays nice and you have a great T day Linda. Hugs-Erika

  2. Where do I begin, Linda. I love the journal page with the adorable flower and the butterflies. I was sent a small tube of gouache and have never opened it. They are very expensive, from what I've been told. Thank you for this incredible journal spread you gave us using Mia's theme at Art Journal Journey.

That's a clever tag. I have two sets of paper dolls and haven't seen this one. Must be a new set. It's very well done.

I love your index cards this week. The difference between the ones you make and mine are, I'm purposely keeping mine flat. I love how incredibly dimensional yours are and how many layers you create in the process. They are simply out of this world and beautiful. And of course, I love the sewing, too.

Now I'm hungry and want something incredibly sweet. This makes me want to find something sinful to eat about now (grin). Yes, I saw the wine corks and cup, but missed the water flask. Thanks for sharing your incredible art, including those amazing ICADs, and your incredible dessert and drinks you shared with us for T this almost Tuesday. Looks like you put that lone piece of handmade paper to good use, too.

  3. Love all your works and can´t even decide for a favorite and I´m with you - I need no more supplies, other I need a bigger condo, LOL. Or Ingo has to move out, I don´t want that, of course! Happy T-Day to you!

  12. I'm loving the summer heat, even when it comes with the humidity we're known for :) Your index cards are so varied. Nice. I like the composition and colors. I always thought I might get around to trying Gelli Plates, and then I just _stopped_ doing art lol Well, maybe someday... lol

  13. I love your journal page with the whimsical flower. Did you stamp the letters yourself?
Your index cards are really great. Plus the journaling you have invented for your vintage ladies.
Yes, I'd love to have a bit of that layered cake. Do you think they have a fifth spoon?
    Happy T-Day,
    Hugs,

    1. Thanks Lisca- of course I'll give a fork too;) I did not stamp. The background words are a stencil and the sentiment was cut from a collage paper.

  15. I love your art and the cake looks deelish.... No summer here. The Oregon coast sucks at summer. No heat just rain and cool to cold. Enjoy the nice day over there.

  20. I do like to see Kraft being used and this journal spread certainly looks great. I always think there is very little difference between gouache and acrylic so I would not buy gouache but would substitute acrylic as you did.
Lovely tag too but it's the icads that caught my eye, especially the second one down. For some reason I find that one really appealing to my eye. Congrats on keeping up with making them. I did not join in this time and now I am sorry.
How I wish I could magic that cake onto my table right now.
    Hugs, Neet xx
