Short and Sweet This Week

Preparing for another heat wave this week here with very little rain relief expected. That means out in the AM and then not again until later in the day or early evening. I actually love those times sitting out  watching the birds and reading, don't you?

My post is short because I actually managed to get three blog challenges in for one piece of art I literally just finished before typing this post 😉

This tag is meant for the new challenge at Tag Tuesday ( Blue and Orange); the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge(Heat Embossing); and the Simon Says Wednesday Challenge (Summertime Blues):

Products: Dina Wakley/Ranger media tag; Versamark ink pad; white embossing powder; Dylusions Basic Backgrounds stamp set; Distress inks- Spiced Marmalade, Salty Ocean; Tim Holtz Small Talk Occasions; sun face, girl images from collage sheets from Paper Whimsy. I began by stamping the alphabet with Versamark ink then heat embossing it using the white embossing powder. I then sponged the inks over top. The mesh -like bit at the bottom with some torn paper attached was a scrap sitting on my table.

Here's a larger photo:

For T Stands For Tuesday I have another light summery meal I recently made for dinner:

Homemade zucchini carrot fritters/cakes (they weren't fried, but sauteed) with a dollop of sour cream and cedar plank grilled salmon. Of course we had to have a glass of wine with it 😁. Cheers!

And I have a new journal spread for Art Journal Journey (theme is Type):

I used Dina Wakley stencils on the background including the Mantras stencil for some "type" and the sentiment was done with an old Making Memories alphabet stamp set which I enhanced with a white Signo Uni-Ball pen. Paper Dolls are Tim Holtz.

Happy to also participate with and visit Paint Party Friday! Happy week to all!

  1. We're due to get that heatwave too. I love spending summer days making art and then reading on my screen porch. Your salmon looks yummy. We had salmon for supper tonight, and I agree it is a great meal for a warm day. And nice tag. I do like the blue and orange together. And thanks for that page for Neet's challenge at AJJ. I like the story that goes with it and how you create the page. Have a super T day and stay cool Linda. Hugs-Erika

  2. The hot weather has been challenging here too. Your meal looks delicious, especially the salmon. Watching the birds sounds like a wonderful way to spend the day.

  3. Love your new banner and will follow that quote!
Heat wave, oh, lucky you. I´m freezing my butt off, this is no summer over here.
    Love the little girl!
Sauteed? I´ll have to google that!
Your marrying card made me smile. When I was a kid I was dressed in a wedding dress when visiting my Cousin, my Dad took a pic - the cousin´s name was... Ingo. It was a polaroid and my Dad wrote "Iris marrying Ingo". I certainly married another Ingo, but what a coincidence :-)

    Happy T-Day to you!

  5. I love the pages you have done for my theme at AJJ - thank you. What a lovely idea to show the two as youngsters, perhaps on their prom and then later in life married. Love the white on the Kraft and the type you have used is fabulous - perfect for this page.
Thanks for joining us at AJJ.
    Hugs neet xx
ps love the tag too - I thought at first that was an entry for AJJ with all the different types on it. x

  7. Your meal looks tasty, I love salmon. We sit in the garden in the shade reading or listening to podcasts, not much else to do in the heat. I love your summertime tag, love the colours, your artwork is great, love the vintage photos.

  8. Linda, happy T-day!

Love that orange and blue tag - she definately looks ready for the beach and love the sewing and letters. Fun! Great journal page too - may be one of my favorite use of the dolls - when little and then grown up - so fun!!!! Yummy looking dinner and wine. The sauteed veggie cakes look very good and very creative! Hugz

  10. Lovely tage in orange and blue! I also like your header in the same colors.
Your meal looks lovely. I had to look up the difference between sauteing and frying. Google tells me when sautees the food is cut into small bits and fried, and in frying it is left whole. I think you meant, you didn't deep fry them (immerged in oil) but shallow fried them.Either way, it all looks delicious.
I know what you mean about the heat. I can only do things in the morning and in the evening. The rest of the day is spent indoors with all the windows and doors closed and the blinds drawn and the fans on. That's southern Spàin for you. Luckily we have a very dry heat so it is bearable.
    Happy T-Day,
    Hugs,
    Lisca

  11. It's hot here, too. Love the tag. I'm always amazed when I can use the same piece for more than one challenge and that tag is simply adorable and fits the themes perfectly.

I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the journal spread you created. I love how you used the paper dolls to your advantage. Thank you SO much for sharing this amazing entry with us at Art Journal Journey using Neet's theme.

Your salmon looks good and those fritters even better. I bet the meal was wonderful. And of course, the wine must have been the [perfect addition to the meal. Thanks for sharing your wine and meal, along with your art with us for T this Tuesday, dear Linda.

  16. I'm looking for the heatwave that we're expecting in a day or two. Just like the little girl on your tag, I would love to be at the beach. Your journal page is fun. I married the boy next door though neither of us thought we would end up together. The young man certainly looks happier with his bride than he did when she was the girl next door. Your dinner looks so delicious. I love salmon. Happy T Day

  32. Hi Linda! :) Your art pieces are adorable...warm my heart, really. Oh that dinner...the veggie patties look yummy! A lovely glass of red wine helps me digest very well when I eat and brings me such joy...love the flavours and textures of wine! I'm with you...out in the AM and hiding in the afternoons now because of our heat wave! Summer has begun here it seems! :) Thanks for noticing that PPF mistakenly credited Sandy's work to me!

  34. That is exactly what I do during those kind of days, stay indoors and work on art. Both of your artwork today are so sweet, Linda! She certainly is ready for the beach and happiness is the word came to mind when I saw the couples.
