Then I also sketched one of my composition books (before decorating the cover). I used masking fluid to make marks that resemble those on the actual book cover before filling in with color.
The theme at PPP & P changes bi-weekly and you can join in at anytime!
And you know what day it is??? It's T Stands for Tuesday with Bleubeard and Elizabeth! So for Elizabeth and friends I am sharing a photo I took after Mother's Day dinner with my Mom, hubby and son.
My Mom brought French wine (we're French for a reason :) and Todd gave me the card and sweet bouquet of carnations. They are still on my table today looking and smelling as fresh as the day he brought them. It was a lovely surprise because we are not big on gift giving for every occasion and as most mothers I tell him not to get me anything, just to spend time with me, and save his money. That darling little blue vase on the left I picked up at an estate garage sale for $3!! I love to go pluck a single flower to have on the table each day. Not sure how old this vase is- it may be from the 40's or 50's and I believe it is a specific style but I'm not familiar with it.
The theme at the Simon Monday Challenge Blog is "botanical" so I'm linking this card I recently made for my friend LuAnn's birthday. ( We're meeting for lunch and whatever kind of trouble we can get ourselves into at Hobby Lobby).
I do enjoy decorating envelopes whether it's stamps or paints.
Thanks for stopping by and I'll be visiting you soon.
"We are cups, constantly and quietly being filled. The truth is knowing how to tip ourselves over and let the beautiful stuff out." Ray Bradbury

Hi Vicki, what a lucky mom you are to have such a thoughful son. I have to say that carnations are one of my favorite flowers because they tend to last a lot longer than most others - especially roses. Happy T-Day to you.
ReplyDeleteGreat drawings and a cheerful card. I like the fact that you decorate the env. as well. It is those little extra bits that make things special.
ReplyDeleteDarla
such lovely creations Linda - we can feel your ♥ in each single piece!
ReplyDeleteI love this theme of trying to draw daily from our everyday lives. Love your sketches Linda. Such beautiful flowers from your son on Mother's Day! Your handmade card reminds me of the bright colors of this season.
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful week
Susan
Looks like a wonderful Mother's Day! That is a pretty little blue vase. I don't know anything about antiques, but I bet you could find something online.
ReplyDeleteLove the Bradbury quote, too. Happy T-Day! :)
I always enjoy your drawings and sketches, your so creative. I like to decorate the envelopes too, always a little eye candy for the mail carrier eh?
ReplyDeleteHappy T-day and thanks for visiting the BBQ post this week.
I want to see the PUNCH LINE on that card (grin). It is too funny.
ReplyDeleteYou make gorgeous cards. I have no ability in that department. Mine always look too handmade. Sort of like a 3 year old made it. But yours is beautiful. I've contemplated decorating a few envelopes for an upcoming swap, and you have just pushed me over the top to do it.
Thanks for sharing your lovely hand drawn art, your card, and your wine for T this Tuesday.
Lovely gifts...esp the wine. ;) love that you decorate the envelope as well.
ReplyDeleteI hear ya; I also need to do at least a little something creative each day. I am glad that you are able to squeeze art time into your daily schedule.
ReplyDeleteYou had a great idea to use masking fluid. The pattern you created looks exactly like the pattern on composition notebooks.
It looks like you had a wonderful Mother's Day. Happy T Day, too!
So much to enjoy in your post Linda!
ReplyDeleteLovely vase ♥
Sweet son to remember you with a card AND flowers
and wine fits all occasions doesn't it :)
I have that same little angel that a cousin gave to me some years ago...
I really enjoy your sketches and you are so good at making cards!
Your envelope intrigues me extra much too!
That Ray Bradbury quotes is one of my favorites...really!
(I know I think I say that often, but being a quote Lover too I know you get that ...)
Sounds like you had a great T day planned out and about with your friend.

Milkglass! At least I think that's what the blue vase is called :) I hope you had a lovely time - and that you don't get into too much at Hobby Lobby :)))
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed the pretty vignette you created! Carnations are lovely flowers and last so long. I gave a similar angel sculpture to our daughter a few years ago. Now you have me wanting to decorate some envelopes, too! Happy T Day!
ReplyDeleteLooks like you had a great mothers' day. Beautiful work as well!
ReplyDeleteYou have made some beautiful work again this week. Love the sketches you have made, and the card with the matching envelope is just lovely. Have a great day, Valerie
