The Heat Wave Is Over

Well hello lovelies! Our heat wave of record breaking highs has ended only to descend down into highs of only 52 F and feeling even colder with a wind chill and rain. No wonder I had a nasty OA flare up in my knee and back for this past week. The sciatica pain has been so bad I wasn't able to sit in any kind of chair for at least several days(standing or lying flat only). I  didn't think I'd get a post typed for this week cuz I have a desktop and sit to use it but things are slowly getting better with meds (which I hate taking, but sometimes you just have to). And this little guy is cheering me up:

We are dog sitting Riley again for a week and he has been such a love.

For T Stands For Tuesday I'll share the lunch I had with some friends the other week:

It was a last minute gathering and we went to Va Va's Creperie Café - a place I've shared about (and raved about) before. This time I had the Mediterranean crepe. My friends had not been there yet and were so happy to finally go. They loved it!! (and Carol R., as long as my back is improving and I can sit we are still going Wed. :)

This card is meant for the Simon Wednesday Challenge (Stamp On It):

I made this a few weeks ago but never posted it here.
Products: Simon Says Stamp August Card Kit; Neena Classic #110 cardstock; alcohol markers; stitched rectangle dies (Our Daily Bread Designs); Stitched Banners Dies (Simon Says Stamp); Stickles glitter glue (Ranger); Versafine Onyx Black ink.

For the Simon Monday Challenge (Use More Than One Stencil) I made my first Artist Trading Coins:

These trading coins seem to be all the rage on Instagram so I decided to make some myself:)

Have you seen or heard of these? made any? traded any?

I used  #90 watercolor paper. Glued dictionary paper down then dry brushed over it with white paint before adding all the stenciling. I then used my circle die (Spellbinders) to die cut the shapes. These are just a tad over 2 1/2 " each. I used images, words, and stickers from my Halloween envelope stash then used a black Posca pen to add the dots around the edge.

I also have a journal page (detail photo is at the opening of this post):

Distress Oxide inks, gold and black calligraphy ink, Archival black ink, stamps, washi tape and star stickers. I also used a Wink Of Stella pen for sparkle to fill in the moon but it doesn't show in this photo.

Sharing with Paint Party Friday and Art Journal Journey hosted this month by Yvonne with the theme of "A World Of Fantasy". Have a wonderful week- always good to hear from you! I'll be around to visit as I am able.

" Live each season as it passes, breathe the air, drink the drink, taste the fruit, and resign yourself to the influences of each."  Henry David Thoreau

  6. My sincere apologies. I am having a terrible time keeping my internet going. I spent nearly an hour on the phone with AT&T, my internet provider. They can’t seem to fix the problem on their end, so want to send someone out today (Tuesday) to fix the problem. If it’s MY problem, I will need to pay for the call, but they are telling me they believe it’s at their pole.

Regardless, while I was on hold and could NOT get on the internet, I decided to write this apology to each of you. Many of you know I read every word you write and I try to include a brief comment that shows I have been to visit and have seen your drink. However, I am being told I should shut the computer down every time it locks up, then reboot. I was able to leave comments to two people, but each time I did, the internet went down on me again.

Since I need to be up early to let the phone guy in (NOT my favorite time of the day), I will leave you with this generic and most grateful T day gratitude. I hope you understand this is totally out of my control and I am grateful you stopped by for T this Tuesday.

  12. I'm so sorry to hear you've had such pain and hope it eases soon. I know meds are never a first choice, but needs must. What a cute dog, and what a sweetie to be there for you :)

I remember when crepes took the world by storm and then seemed to disappear. I'm glad they're still available some places. That looks delicious! I've never heard of "trading coins". They remind me a bit of "pogs". Looks like a fun activity :)

    Happy T Tuesday

  13. Oh dear, I hope you get well soon. You are slowly improving by the sounds of it.
The crepe looks delicious. We had savory crepes while in France and they are indeed yummy.
Your card is lovely, as is your journal page.
I’m afraid I have never heard of artist trading circles. But a round ATC sounds like a fun idea. Your Halloween themed circles are great.
    Happy T Day,

  16. I love your autumn blog header, Linda.

OA and sciatica both? You poor girl ;-( I hope the meds work quickly.

Riley is sooo adorable. He would cheer me up too. Si tzus are my - actually - our favorite - breed. They have wonderful dispositions and are so cute.

I would love that crepe cafe too.

Pretty card. I love how you gussied up the blossoms with glitter. You always add such lovely touches to your cards.

"The goddess is alive" - what a wonderful fastasy page! I love your stenciled ATC coins too. That's a new one on me. I'm so glad you shared the SSS challenge today while there are five more days to enter. By coincidence, Deb and my postcard art swap theme for September is "use 3 stencils." I can kill two bird with one stone :D

    Happy T-day! Eileen

  22. Some very lovely makes that you have made. I love the glitter on your flower and that lovely colorful background on your journal page. I have seen these trading coins have become popular as well. I am unsure that I like the idea of working in such a small space. But I am amazed at all the detail I have seen others fit on theirs so maybe some day I will give it a go. Love your coins.
    Happy Tea Day,
    Kate

  42. Oh wow! I'm so sorry to hear about your back pain and physical challenges, but if it makes you feel better, it didn't affect your amazing artistic abilities any! These ATC coins are just delightful! I'm so impressed at how many details you packed into these goodies. The color palette is perfect for Halloween and I love how each one has its own story to tell. I hope you get to feeling back to 100% and know that in the meantime, we're so grateful for your continued support of our Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenges.
