Well hello peeps - long time no see! Hope all is going well for you. The very beginning of November hubby and I spent our last time in Cape May for this year. It started out very cold and windy just the first day but got absolutely gorgeous and we saw the most beautiful sunsets each evening. And such really fun times meeting up with friends we met there each day...however since getting back home it's like all he(double toothpick) broke loose. Been spending too much time trying to straighten health insurance claims wrongly submitted by the facilities themselves, trying to get through to set up for next years health care (oh the glitches with this too!), etc. etc. And just today - all my inbox emails just disappeared! Poof!! vanished!!:( :( :( We did manage to host a record/vinyl party this past weekend but I'll post on that another time. Let's get on with the art and other good things shall we?
Let us not forget this day of Remembrance, Veterans Day
Here is the complete card which I am linking to the Simon Wednesday Challenge and the Simon Monday Challenge for the theme of "thinking of you":
Products: white notecard; colored pencils; sentiment (Hero Arts); poppies (Magenta); stencil (Prima); Versafine Onyx Black ink; Altenew Morning Frost ink.
For T Stands For Tuesday today I will share this photo:
My future daughter in law Kyra invited me to go with her, her mother and sister to look for a wedding dress this past Sunday. She looked beautiful in everything she tried on, and when we all gasped when she came out in one in particular all we could do was cry. And she chose that dress so we celebrated with Prosecco at the shop. The shop was closed and only open for us. I was so touched to be a part of this. I love this girl so much!
This journal page is meant for Art Journal Journey (theme is "fruits and vegetables") hosted this month by Rike; and I will also join Try It On Tuesday (theme is "autumn colors"). The fruit bowl is from a napkin.
And lastly I will share a bit of the watercolor practice lessons I have been working on here and there. They are from Laura Horn's Watercolor Explorations online class. I am signed up for several of her classes as I just love her teaching and abstract style. I always had a love/hate relationship with watercolors but she is swaying me to the love:) I have learned so much in such a short time!
I am joining in at Moo Mania and More (theme is "circles"):
These are my reference swatches I made using my Daniel Smith watercolors and then some added mixing.
This was for some mark making abstract practice.
Here I was practicing making circles and mixing colors using only 4 original colors - and on the right page is what I got mixing all together what was leftover on my palette from the same 4 colors- just amazing how many colors came from this!! I was so tickled by the beach colors!
Also joining Paint Party Friday again. Looking forward to catching up with all of you. Thanks for popping in!

You have been busy, healthcare stuff can be so upsetting for sure-hugs
ReplyDeleteLove seeing your art pages-and wow lovely day with the bride to be-congrats.
Happy T Kathy
Sorry to read about your insurance woes. My friend Sally called for an ambulance when she was so sick a few months back and the EMTs used the wrong medical code and she was charged over $800.00 for a less than 2 mile ride to the hospital. The insurance company won't pay it and the hospital isn't going to change the code. I told her the next time she didn't feel like driving herself to the hospital to call an Uber!
ReplyDeleteWhat an amazing week of art you have experienced, Linda. Your card with the poppies is wonderful. So appropriate for today, too. Your circles are amazing. I guess it goes to show you don't really need to buy a lot of colors to make beautiful art that's the perfect color.
Your journal page is captivating. Those peaches and pears look SO realistic. I'm totally impressed. And that bowl is great, too. The entire entry is perfect for Rike's theme at Art Journal Journey.
How wonderful that your future DIL invited you to a very personal and private event. It appears the feeling is mutual between you two. I bet the cost of the dress included the cost of the Prosecco, too (grin). Kyra is certainly a beautiful girl and I can only imagine what the dress will look like. SO HAPPY for you, too, Linda.
Thanks for sharing your lovely art, and your trip to the wedding dress shop, which included Prosecco with us for T this week.
Sounds like life has been a mix of great and not so great lately. Sorry to hear about your computer and insurance hassles. The problems of technology! And wow. Wedding dress shopping sounds like a fun time but it sure has changed since I bought mine. That has to make up for the little hassles in life. And gorgeous art too. I love your abstract playing. It's something I don't know much about. Have a fabulous T day Linda. Hugs-Erika
ReplyDeleteHow wonderful to share such a lovely time with your future DIL, we are lucky to have a wonderful DIL too, she’s more like a daughter to us, we always tell her she’s the daughter we never had.
ReplyDeleteMy DH had a heart attack here eight years ago, an 8 minute ride to the hospital cost $2460, they chased me for the money the day after, luckily we had insurance, they paid over two million dollars apparently as he ended up having a triple heart bypass and had two weeks in hospital!
His meds cost us $1000 for two weeks, in Spain we pay€8.40 per month.
Thank goodness medical treatment in the UK and Spain are free
Have a great week and I hope you get everything sorted out

Glad you had such a great vacation, but not good to come home to lots of annoying happenings. Glad you enjoyed your trip to the wedding shop, sounds like fun! Lots of lovely art for lots of challenges, you have been been having colourful fun. Happy T Day, hugs, Valerie
ReplyDeleteOh, yes, hello, I fight with health care, too.
ReplyDeleteWith one person. Another wants my Hubby in my insurance and even offered to come to our home for it.
Always two ways, to walk, huh...
Bummer with your e-mails :-(
I love the poppies.
Wow, sounds exclusive with the wedding!
School really made me hate watercolors, sadly. The smell alone makes me gag, sadly... But yours look fun!
Happy T-Day!
Insurance are Grave robbers we say here... indeed its terrible.
ReplyDeleteBut I like your paintings. Lovely artwork...
Hugs, Heidrun

Lovely to 'see' you, Linda. Sorry you've had so much hassle but I'm glad you made it and you still had time to create. What a wonderful time you must've had with your future daughter in law - she's beautiful. That was a precious memory. Love your art and the sentiment behind it...I love all the art you shared. Playing is so good for us, but you're right - let's live the length and breadth of each season as it comes...
ReplyDeleteThank you for joining Try it on Tuesday's Colours of Autumn Challenge.

Every year, insurance gets more expensive, at a rate higher than pay raises, so effectively it's a cut in the standard of living. I hope you get your emails back. Ugh. Beautiful poppies card. Kyra looks very happy about her wedding dress choice. I love your fruit bowl artwork. Wonderful colors in your abstract art. Happy T-Day!
ReplyDeleteSounds like you had such a fabulous time helping choose the wedding dress, how wonderful to be part of such a special decision 😀. Your autumnal page with the bowl of fruit looks amazing and I love the quote you chose too! Thanks so much for joining in the fun at Try it on Tuesday and wishing you a happy T Day! Hugs, Jo x
ReplyDeleteAlways said to leave the happy place especially to get home to problems. Hope the healthcare issues are straightened out. How lovely to be included in the picking of the bridal gown. Such an exciting time. Your poppies are pretty and looks like you're having fun in your watercolor class. Happy T Day

Health insurance hassle and lost e-mails too! That's awful. Glad you had a good time in Cape May again.
ReplyDeleteLovely poppy card. Your bowl of fruit piece is awesome. I Love the quote too.
What a lovely experience you had helping Kyra pick out her wedding dress. I hope we'll get to see the dress on her.
I can relate to thee love/hate relationship with watercolors. Good for you for approaching it in an disciplined way. I instantly saw beach colors too!
Happy T-day! Eileen xx
Insurance issues shouldn't be so complicated :( It just adds more stress.
ReplyDeleteYour wedding dress outing sounds delightful! I love "Live in each season as it passes" :) Happy T Tuesday
Fantastic art projects Linda, thank you for sharing one with us at Try it on Tuesdays.
ReplyDeleteIt sounded like a very special day you had with Kyra and her family. I hope we get to see her photos when the day arrives.
Yvonne xx
What a privilege to be able to help you future DIL choose her wedding dress. And great that you get on so well. No MIL jokes for her then. She looks like a lovely girl indeed.
ReplyDeleteYour poppies are beautiful. Very appropriate for Remembrance Day.
What a bummer about your health insurance. We are lucky that we have never had such problems as health care is free in the UK as well as in Spain.
It's so interesting to see all your water colour practice mixes. It is amazing how many colours you can make out of a basic kit. Your 'beach' colours are amazing too.
Happy T-Day,
Hugs,
Lisca

Hi Linda :) Your "Thinking of You" card is so pretty!! Congrats to Kyra and your son (I'm guessing?)!! :) I love your fruit bowl too. Oh I LOVE watercolours! At first I didn't like them, but as I worked with them more and learned new techniques, they are my favourite medium! I hope the classes inspire you!!
ReplyDeleteI loved everything you shared, but especially the poppies and card! Happy PPF!
ReplyDeletevery beautiful poppies and..I love lighthouses :)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful work for the challenges!
ReplyDeleteHow wonderful wedding dress shopping i mean if i were there i would have cried too.
ReplyDeleteThanks for today's art and photos.
Happy you dropped by my blog
Much🎨love
ReplyDeleteYour Remembrance card is really lovely, thoughtful and quiet.
It's a super layered background on your fruit piece and I am very taken with the words, pieces of advice to stop and think about what we are doing.
Love to see your colour-mixing, especially the circles tags, a great future reference.
Oh Linda it seems like an age since I visited, so lovely to catch up and see that you have had much to celebrate. You are very lucky to have such a bond with your future Daughter in Law I have a special bond with my MIL, she is one in a million and such a pleasure to be around. It sounds like you had a magnificent time choosing the dress then topped off with prosecco, the perfect end to a wonderful day.
ReplyDeleteYour poppy card is beautiful, and you have mastered many things with the watercolours, they are little pans of magic and you will soon be discovering your own way with them creating even more masterpieces. I look forward to seeing more. Happy PPF Tracey xx
Lovely collage mixed media artwork and what a beautiful daughter-in-law to be ^_^

Love your poppy card! Your fruit page is fabulous too! What a treat to go to help choose the wedding dress! You are setting a good example with your paints! Sadly we are a bit bogged down with sorting out what to keep and what to part with at our caravan - it's taking an age, hence a very belated Happy T Day! Chrisx
ReplyDeleteThere's nothing so exciting as playing with watercolours and seeing what they'll get up to! Lovely to see your swatches and experiments. The poppy card is just lovely.
