Autumn Is In The Air

Hi peeps! Much of last week still was quite warm (up to 80 F on Friday!), so much time was spent outside cleaning up the yard, cleaning out some of the flower pots, and washing and putting away our hummingbird feeders. I am already missing those sweet tiny birds😔. The leaves are fast falling now and colors are changing. I've finally started changing curtains and adding some fall decorations. I don't do Halloween since there are no kiddos around anymore. It's gotten a bit cooler today so I guess it's time to change around my clothing too.

However I have a few more pictures from Cape May to remind me of summer:

One of the marinas. Photos courtesy of my hubby. How I love seeing the boats...

I could live on Caesar salad and they make the best at Hemingway's! I had it several times the week we were in CM and each time it was my complete meal. This eve. it was with warm fresh bread and  olive oil along with J Lohr Cabernet Sauvignon -  just perfect. Cheers!

A few sunset pics (also courtesy of hubby) before I move on to the art:)

The colors are especially stunning in September!! (No filters)

For Art Journal Journey (theme is My Favourite Colour Is October) I made this page in the Dina Wakley Square Kraft Journal:

The leaves focal point are from Dina's latest release on tissue paper called "Things That Grow". I glued them to card stock to make them sturdy and painted them with watercolors. I also used Dina's newer Gloss Sprays. Washi tape and sentiment are Tim Holtz.

I had done the background awhile ago on a dark denim page in Dina's Blue Edition Media Journal and wanted to finish it so I just added a collage tissue figure glued on card stock then used Posca pens to outline and add the words in the circles.

Also I've been trying to squeeze in some of the Lifebook 2022 Taster Lessons. Tamara LaPorte has kindly left the free lessons up for another week so I hope to get a few more in😉

This was a super lesson by Toni Burt. I hadn't tried sketching or painting any kind of face in so long, yet this totally drew me out of my comfort zone and I LOVED doing this!! I kept to the color palette she used and pretty much followed the steps along with her. Now I want to do another similar one but with other colors- a really fun way to loosely sketch and paint!  I was thinking the flowers and colors looked like autumn leaves and was going to link to Art Journal Journey but though I might be pushing it a bit😏.So here's to Paint Party Friday!

That's it for this week. Looking forward to seeing what you all have been doing. Thanks for stopping by!

  2. Your photos from Cape May are great Linda. It looks more like August to me. We're still warm here, but we are finally having some color changes so it doesn't feel summer anymore. Don't you miss the hummingbirds though. I'm with you. Your page for AJJ is beautiful. It is perfect for Tracey's challenge so thanks for joining. Your other art is great too. I hope your nice weather continues. And you have a super T day too. Hugs-Erika

  5. Gorgeous pictures of Cape May - lovely sunset, great Marina pictures, and the yummy food. I love a good salad and some warm bread along with some good wine. TFS!!

The art is all fab too. The AJJ page is super cool with the layers and colors. I didn't know there was new tissues - I so need to get some! The touch of red is perfect. Super denim page - I think the denim pages would be a challenge for me but yours looks really cool. I totally think your drawing would fit AJJ too - definitely Fall colors. You did a good job drawing her. I definitely need to take some classes - your class projects are always a delight.

    Happy T-day, Linda!

  6. I loved Toni Burt's lesson as well and you did a wonderful job with it (I still haven't even tried). Your sketch looks beautiful and the colors are lovely. I have saved all the supply lists, pictures and other information of the lessons, so I hope go back to it later. I love the sunset pictures, the colors are so rich and earthy.

  10. I was just leaving Kathy a comment when I heard a “bang” and then my electricity went out. I stepped outside to see if it was just me, or everyone on the block. My next door neighbor was outside and he told me he had called the electric company and reported the outage. They said they would send someone out to check the problem. My electricity finally came back on at 11:17 this morning. It had been out since shortly before 5:00 p.m. last night, around 19 hours. My apologies if you thought I had forgotten or was ignoring you.

I love the boat and sunset photos from Cape May. Beautiful shots.

I also LOVE both your Dina pages, but especially the leaves. It is stunning and great for Tracey's theme at Art Journal Journey.

I also like the lady you drew. It is fun and I'm glad you shared it with us.

And of course, I enjoyed seeing the Caesar's salad and wine you had at Hemingway's. Thank you for sharing it, along with your art and husband's photos with us for T this Tuesday, dear Linda.

  16. What lovely photos of Cape May and the marina. I love the sunset photos. Stunning!
I'm totally with you with a Cesar salad. I often ask for a chicken Cesar salad. With some freshly baked bread. Yum! I could live on that too. (Plus some white wine of course).
Fortunately it is still warm and sunny here, but the evenings are cooler and I often reach for my cardigan.
Sorry I'm late but as you regulars know, we are away on Tuesday, and today we had a power cut so I'm even later (It's nine pm)
    A belated happy T-Day,
    Hugs,

Really love your layered leaves in your Kraft journal, the sentiment works so lovely with it's composition. You did a fab job with the Toni Burt taster amazing how we can just fall back into things after such a long time away. Thanks for joining me again @ AJJ.

  23. Fabulous Cape May pics - those sunsets!!!!! I too could live off Caesar salads - I had quite a few in Paris - found the very best on the last day but as it isn't far from the hotel we stay at usually it will be easy to find next time. I love your AJJ page and the other Dina page. We have to wait for the new products to arrive here. I love that face too - must see if I can squeeze that in! Belated Happy T Day and Thanks for linking to AJJ, Hugs, Chrisx
