What a difference a week has made here. From record highs to now record lows:( No more outdoor flowers, gloves are out, and flannel sheets are on the beds! Besides the weather change, I have taken on some care giving duties along with cat sitting and tending to an elderly relative's home whilst she is recuperating. The days are really flying by now. I have never had a cat but thankfully she has completely warmed up to me and looks for me every day (it couldn't be because I am feeding her could it?? :):)
And before the art part- I have the reveal of the bird book/napkin stash giveaway winner....
Congrats Nan!!! Please email me with your snail mail addy and I will get it out to you as soon as I can. Thank you to all who entered. I wish I had one to give to each of you.
For the Simon Wednesday Challenge ( theme is Snow White) and the Simon Monday Challenge (It's a Stitch Up) I made this CAS card:

I got some happy mail:
This map art calendar created by Denthe (Denise)! I ordered it as soon as it was available. And let me tell you , not only is the quality of color and cardstock excellent, Denise's amazing art is FABULOUS!!! Very thoughtful imagery and sentiments for each month. I love it!! You can click on this link to take you to the calendar and pages included.
It's about time I show you my first half of November calendar spread:
The individual art page:
and a detail shot:
This is from a You Tube session with" Painting With Jane". Birch trees using a palette knife. As I was moving along, in the beginning I kept thinking how awful it was looking but I persevered and by the end I was so happy with the results, I learned a LOT, and I love palette knife painting!!
My last journal page is meant for Art Journal Journey (theme is 101 Ways To Keep Warm); Creative Artiste Mixed Media Challenge #32; Paint Party Friday; and T Stands for Tuesday.
Products: spray inks; gesso; modeling paste; Archival Sepia ink; colored pencil; Darkroom Door Coffee Time stamp set; Cubist stencil(TCW); paper flower; paper doily.
Wishing you all comfort and warmth.

ReplyDeleteCongratulations to Nan. I know she will love this bird book.
ReplyDeleteThat's a lovely card, and the calendar is great. Congrats on getting happy mail and making happy mail (grin).
I am just learning to use a palette knife. The texture you got was wonderful. I've been told they come together quickly, but I think I overwork what I make.
I am in love with your combined AJJ and T Tuesday post. What fun. I really like how you treated the doily. It's a great entry for both. Thanks for sharing your card, your happy mail and your lovely journal entry with us for T this Tuesday.

It is a wonderful tea cup project as well.

Wow, your painting of the birch trees is so amazing! I love all the fabulous texture you achieve with the paint - beautiful 😁. Your T Day art is so warm and cheery too, the paint spatters and drips looks wonderful and the pretty flower was a fun addition. Sounds like you're busy looking after everyone, that's very kind of you and I'm sure they (and their lovely cat) appreciate it 😀. Take care and wishing you a Happy T Day! J 😊
ReplyDeleteGorgeous art today Linda. I LOVE the birches. Wow. And I know about the cold. We had our first little snow yesterday and got about an inch. Argh. But I love the flannel sheets being on the bed, even if it does mean winter is really on its way. I guess we can't complain after such a gorgeous fall. Hope its a happy T day. Hugs-Erika
ReplyDeleteI love painting with Jane! Nicely done. Your card is lovely as well. The softness of the ink with the crisp overlay is wonderful.

ReplyDeleteI love your November painting. The stark bare trunk surrounded by that lovely autumn color! Happy T Tuesday
ReplyDeleteYour snow white card is so elegant. And I'm loving the birch trees. And your cup on the pretty doily is so inviting.
ReplyDeletethe pattern I used for the fingerless gloves can be found here: http://www.hellospeckless.com/peasy-gloves-crochet-pattern/
Very easy. No increases. Worked in the round so no sewing. the only thing different I did was when working the cuff area (after round 8), I crocheted in the back loops so it gave a sort of horizontal ribbed effect
thank you CJ! will give them a try.
DeleteGREAT art this week Linda! The birch trees as really beautifully done and your card is amazing.
ReplyDeleteHappy T-day
Your artwork is so versatile and lovely ~ my favorite I think are palette knife painting of the Birches ~ although both cards are wonderful too!

I looked at the previews of the monthly pages of Denise' map calendar. Gorgeous and thought-provoking uplifting quotes. Wish I'd been following her when it waas 15% off, but the price is still reasonable. I love it!
