"Bee"sy Times

Aah, yes , that time of year here for Spring cleaning and changing curtains, pillow covers and linens to reflect the lighter brighter colors! It is taking ever so long this year for things outside to bud and open so the change of colors inside is a welcome sight. Do you have any Spring rituals?

The bee is from a napkin and just a snippet from this tag I made using some of the new products I received recently:

I covered a manila tag with Tim Holtz Typography Collage Tissue Paper then dry brushed a bit of white paint over top. Dina Wakley Aloe paint was applied on the left side using Tim Holtz Linen Layering stencil. Dina Wakley Heather paint was apllied through some sequin waste here and there. Flower and sentiment (Dina Wakley Always Flowers and Good Idea stamp sets) were stamped on white cardstock using Jet Black Archival ink. I painted in the flower, leaves and stem using Dina Wakley paints in Heather, Mineral, Aloe, Sand (her new line of pastel colors- love!), and Lime. Fussy cut image and sentiment and glued it in place. Distress Black Soot ink used to spatter. Lastly, the bee  (napkin bit) was glued in place.

Joining the new Simon Monday Challenge for this week (Play With Paint), and Try It On Tuesday (Say it With Flowers).

For T Stands For Tuesday I'll share a few photos from the recent baby shower I attended. The shower was held at a beautiful restaurant - Melt and let me say that the food was extraordinary though I only thought to take a pic of the dessert.

The table was decorated with baby photos of the father and mother to be along with a bare tree on paper on which we were to add a fingerprint and our name. Here's a close up:

My two girls (the daughters I never had:):

Lynn, and Kyra (our son's gf)

We all had a choice of 3 - 4 selections from each course, and by far the most popular dessert - and my choice- was the tiramisu. It was to die for!!! Best I ever had! I was nice and saved half to take home for hubby to try too:) And yes, my water and merlot went quite well with it all. It gets even better....

 These were our favors:

a box of 4 artisan chocolates from a local patisserie. Are these a work of art or what? ALMOST too beautiful to eat (wink). Hubby and I each took a bite of the four of them after admiring them almost a week and oh my, heavenly flavors of ganache, cookies and cream, dark chocolate raspberry, and salted caramel. One of the rare times I truly enjoyed something sweet!

 Art Journal Page:

One of the burlap pages in the Dina Wakley Media Journal. I do love the burlap! I thought this lady looked dressed for Spring (Tim Holtz Paper Doll) and I used spring colors- lime, turquoise bright pink along with some found ephemera and a Tim Holtz Snarky Stickers sentiment. Doesn't her expression just look like that is something she'd say? :):)

 Happy week to everyone!

What a beautiful baby shower that must have been. The dessert and that chocolate favor sure make my mouth water. And what a very interesting guestbook. Love that idea!

  2. I love tiramisu and boy does that look really good. It sounds like a wonderful shower. I've started my spring cleaning although outside is like early spring,, not late March. I love to wash the dust out of my curtains and move out the furniture and clean out a few things. Loving all the art this week too Linda. Nice stamps you received. Have a happy T day. Hugs-Erika

  3. What a great baby shower. I've never seen one with a full meal, though. Snacks and finger foods, but never a full meal. what a unique and different shower. I would have eaten/chosen the tiramisu, too. I am glad the wine and water went well with the dessert. Since I don't drink wine, I can never imagine the pairing. I was also impressed with the chocolates. They looked heavenly and glistened, too.

That is a gorgeous tag. I like the flowers. I like how you colored them and how you cut them. This tag shines.

I had to laugh at your snarky lady. Those are definitely spring colors and the journal page is really clever. Thanks for sharing this with us at Art Journal Journey, and thanks for joining us with your Merlot and water for T this Tuesday, too.

The baby shower must have been a fantastic celebration ! WOW!!! Love the beautiful photo of your lovely daughter in love and the pregnant beauty! It is a gift to get children in LOVE (in law) as our children grow older. I am so happy with my daughter's friend as well, won't miss him anymore. He is a gift for our family!
    Spring Ritual?
I have my first wild garlic meal today - Wild garlich is defintely a sign of spring for me. Cleaning process is here in my house the whole year... my windows need cleaning again even though I cleaned them all at the end of January.... my home needs so much attention specially with my big dogs bringing much work extra ...lol. But in some way cleaning and housework is meditation and does me good - it's not so good as making art , but still GOOD.
Happy week and T-Day my dear friend of art!

    Big hugs
    Susi

  9. Our spring ritual is washing the windows inside and out. My parents used to do the windows in the spring too for more practical reasons. Because that's when the storm windows came off and the screens went up. Now we do it to bring in the sunshine and views of nature in bloom.

Wonderful tag. I love that flower stamp set!

The shower sounds fabulous. Oh my, what wonderful treats. Tiramisu is one of my favorite desserts.

Fun and funny page. I've never created a burlap journal page. Yes, she looks stern and maybe sarcastic. My guess is she was a teacher (grin).

    Happy T-day! Eileen xx

  14. I love the bee! I haven't seen a honeybee around my patio in years. Wasps aplenty. And the burlap piece reminds me of stories about my great-grandmother ;)

Such a fancy party with fancy chocolates!

My spring rituals include taking out my plants onto the patio and switching the winter placemats/napkins/candles to lighter colors. It does make a difference :) Happy T Tuesday

  16. Sweet tag. I love the little bee. What a lovely shower. Clever idea for the guest, a thumbprint leaf on the family tree. I adore tiramisu and the chocolates are exquisite. As you said almost too pretty to eat. My mother used to change curtains twice a year, Spring and Fall.I had the same lace curtains up for a good 25 years. Took them down at Christmas to put up curtains with cardinals. Those looked too Christmasy to keep up so bought new green ones. It certainly changed the room for the better. I like the sentiments on your journal page.Made me smile. Happy T Day

  25. Spring ritual? I think the produce in the shops tell me it is spring. Here it is strawberry time, so we eat our fill of those. I change wardrobes when it gets hot. We normally go from sunny and war, to sunny and hot. So from one day to the next I will change to my summer wardrobe, we will move to the downstairs flat where it is cooler and that's my season change.
I love your tag. The flower is amazing. I love it.
Now that looked like a very posh baby shower. I have never been to a baby shower but I didn't think people had meals. And from what you write it is only for ladies. The tiramisu looks delish (or 'to die for'). It is my favorite dessert. Those chocolates look like jewels. I have never seen chocolates so beautiful. I think I'd have to look at them for a week and stroke them every now and then.
    Sorry I'm late to comment,
    but a happy belated T-Day,
    Lisca

  40. I just love this tag and the flower is so delicately painted. Nice to see your bee and our bees today in the garden on the flowering currants.
The lady at the end looks great on the decorated burlap. I often wonder if anyone recognises these "found relatives". Nice to read about your Real Life activities too and these chocolates!!!!
