Autumn Is Slowly Approaching
Yes, autumn is coming SLOW but sure here. Despite the fact that last Wednesday we hit an all time record high of 93 degrees F!! And then the next day it dropped over 30 degrees and didn't get out of the low 50's - what crazy weather!!! So far it continues to be warm and I'm OK with it:)
The tag above is meant for the new themes at the Simon Monday Challenge (autumn/fall), and Tag Tuesday ( autumn). Products used: manila tag, Black Soot Distress Ink (Ranger); Tim Holtz Paper Dolls; patterned papers (the Paper Studio); vintage clip art (Crafty Secrets); stickers (Nicole- AC Moore).
For T Stands For Tuesday I'll share another meal and drink we had in Cape May a few weeks ago:
Another place we frequently visit and I've mentioned before is the Oyster Bay Restaurant. Here we always sit at the bar to eat. I've had their flatbreads before so this time I got the Caprese flatbread and it was delicious! Unfortunately things didn't go so well for Bill. His crab patty and waffle fries look so good don't they? This is the second dish because the first one came so quickly I couldn't believe it. Well, the whole meal was cold!! First time we ever had to have them take it back. We got a new plate and sadly- no better:( This time it was hot but the crab cake wasn't done and was practically ALL filler and mushy. The coleslaw that was soaking on the top of the bun made that mushy too (it used to be served on the side). Bill ate the fries and some of my flatbread but left the sandwich. We know the owner/chef and I am certain he did NOT make this because he is very fussy. There are other chefs who work with him too. What a disappointment. Our bartender apologized, took our drinks off the tab, we paid, and left.
OK, back to more art!
This is #6, the final mixed media page I did of a series of similar pieces earlier this year:
I gave links to my other pieces in this post.
This next journal page is meant for Art Journal Journey (dreams and wishes); and Moo Mania and More (count your blessings/thankfulness):
This is in my Dylusions Creative Dyary Journal. Dina Wakley Collage Collective tag, minis stencil, collage tissue words; black and pink acrylic paints; Bulles stencil (Carabelle Studio); tiny dimensional heart sticker (Doodlebug-Simon Says Stamp); black Pitt pen.
Also joining Paint Party Friday. Have a super week everyone!

Sorry to hear about your husband's bad meal. It is so frustrating, isn't it? And I find it can change your mind about going back to a restaurant. I don't know if that is true for you and The Oyster Bay. Your are really on a roll with your art too. You small piece is amazing. You used Dina Wakely's products so well also. Arent her stamps the best? Have a happy T day Linda. Hugs-Erika
ReplyDeleteThat is always so disappointing to get a bad meal I would have sent the second one back as well, but at least they took some money off.
ReplyDeleteEnjoyed seeing your art! Happy T wishes Kathy
A wonderful post
ReplyDeleteThank you for joining us at MOO MANIA & MORE
A wonderful tag and an impressive blue Mixed Media page dear Linda. The page in the diary journal is wonderful in my eyes. I love it. Thanks a lot for supporting AJJ and Moo Mania &More and happy T-Day. Sad about this not so nice meal for Bill.
ReplyDeleteBig hugs and happy week!

Beautiful art, love the autumn tag and the mixed media piece especially. And thanks so much for joining us at TT, much appreciated. Sorry the food was so disappointing, that's not nice. It's got cold and very much autumns here, too. Happy T Day! Hugs, Valerie
ReplyDeleteIt´s always sad when meals go that wrong. We went to the same Steak House for 10 years, always yummy, then two times in a row.... icky. The second (and last) time it was so bad we did not have to pay for my steak even. Just thinking of that place now makes me gag...
ReplyDeleteThank you for showing your art, too, I feel much better :-) Happy T-day!
It is a shame when you look forward to a meal and it turns up at the table unable to be eaten. I don't think you should have paid for any of the meal with such poor service.
ReplyDeleteYour art projects all look fabulous and inspirational.
Happy T day wishes.
Yvonne xx
How t your meal was cold, we’ve had that happen once, it looks lovely too!
ReplyDeleteYour artwork is beautiful, I love the blue, it’s a gorgeous colour.
Happy T day

Hi Linda-Just here to answer your question from your comment. I have never had breakfast at the Wentworth, but I have been there for lunch and dinner. We boat by it all the time though, so that is what I am most familiar with. I'd love to see that PBS show. I'm curious what that breakfast is like. Hugs-Erika
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful autumnal tag! It made me smile with all the little pumpkins in a row - perfect 😁. Thanks for joining us for the Autumn/Fall challenge at Simon Says Stamp and wishing you a very happy T Day! Hugs, Jo x
ReplyDeleteBeautiful art today, Linda. I love the abstract series you've been creating. (You'll see how much when you visit my blog for T.) Wonderful dreams and wishes page and perfect quote. Thank you for sharing it with us at AJJ.
ReplyDeleteHappy T-day! Eileen xx
I like your tag's horizontal orientation. I don't often see that. It's a shame they didn't get it right the _second_ time :( What a disappointment.
ReplyDeleteI like your quote choices. You found the perfect ones to combine with those pieces. Happy T Tuesday!
OOh what a disppointment when the meals are bad! I don´t know if I ´d go again to that restaurant.
ReplyDeleteLove your tag for Halloween and your wonderful Art journal pages, they are great ! Happy T-day !
Wish you a less crazy weather, and send you big hugs,
Caty
What a shame your meal didn't reach the usual standard! I wonder if you will ever find out the reason! Fortunately your art mojo is definitely working hard! Your tag is fabulous! The journal pages both look great too - I love the Dina Wakley face! Happy T Day! Chrisx
ReplyDeleteWonderfully created 1st tag ~ perfect for the season ^_^

I like your Dylusions Creative Dyary Journal page. Very nicely done.
ReplyDeleteAnd your tag is just so cute. I am sorry about your meal; at least the bar tender took the drinks off your tab. It is really discouraging to go into a restaurant and get poorly done food. Happy T Day!
What a disappointment for Bill when his meal was such a cold mess. Just looking at it I can see this was not lovingly composed but just piled onto the plate. The chef was definitely having a bad hair day. The flat bread looks very nice though.
ReplyDeleteI like your autumn tag and the blue mixed media piece is a work of art! Beautiful!
Happy belated T-Day,
Hugs,
Lisca
Sorry about your meal ~ sometimes that happens ~ Lovely art creations ~ such versatility and talent ~ ^_^

Hi Linda. Wonderful art you've shared. I know that meal was a disappointment. My husband has a thory that if you go to any restaurant enough times they will all disappoint. I agree, but he uses it as an excuse to not go anymore. I'm like, well, let's try one more time and apply any lessons learned. My argument is there's a finite number of restaurants and I don't want to end up with nowhere to go, lol. Vox nix I guess, but it is tres disappointing when you have faith in one and that happens. xoxo
ReplyDeleteyour autumn tag is a wonderful tag for hallowe'en! it is vintage perfection. i love your journal tag also. thanks for playing along at tag tuesday! xo
ReplyDeleteWho would have thought a pesky squirrel could have sidelined me for over three days. It sidelined ME. Otherwise I would have been here sooner.
ReplyDeleteYour tag is amazing. I like the various layers you created. This was so adorable.
I am so in awe of your vibrancy journal entry. So much so, I am working on an entry that emulates your work. This is very inspiring.
Love the journal page you created for Eileen's theme. It's a clever take on the theme and the tag is quite striking. Even the background is adorable. Thanks for sharing it with us at Art Journal Journey.
I feel for you and your bad meal. I've never had anyone reimburse me, even though the meal was horrible. I know my friend Sally doesn't like to make a fuss, so I try to sit on my hands when it comes to bad food. Instead, I say let's not go there again. Thanks for sharing your disappointing meal with us, but your paid for (reimbursed) drinks, at T this week.
Vibrancy Permeates ~ now there is neat thought ~ creative artwork too.

Your artwork is lovely. I especially like the blue piece: I found it quite striking looking. I'm sorry to hear your husband's meal was cold, and when it was brought back out the second time, it wasn't any better. Happy Belated T-Day!

Hi Linda, your mixed media art is beautiful and really speaks to the changes that Autumn brings.
ReplyDeleteSuch a disappointment when a meal is not up to scratch, its never cheap to dine out and the bad impression stays doesn't it.
I love the sentiments you choose, especially the one by William Wordsworth in your last piece in the post. Happy PPF :D) xx
Love seeing your great fall art Linda, and your beautiful mixed media pages!
ReplyDeleteSuper Tag..love your vintage take to our Autumn theme.
