Welcome December!
And December came in with a LOT of rain, some snow, and freezing rain too. As I am typing it is flurrying a bit and thankfully that's all it will be rather than the 6 inches they originally predicted! I spent this past dreary Sunday working on Christmas cards and in between I took a break to watch a You Tube tutorial by Ellen Crimi-Trent and created the above snowman watercolor painting. It is 4" x 4". I plan on following a few more of her tutorials as they are pretty easy to follow and a delight to make:)
PS Eileen if you're reading this- she works wet on wet which is what I have been learning from Laura Horn Art also to create some lovely effects with the watercolors. It really is a matter of play and practice:)
Speaking of practice here is an abstract watercolor page I did following Laura Horn's Watercolor Explorations online class:
I also used Posca pens and a pastel crayon for added mark making. Love these colors!
For T stands for Tuesday I'll share these two food photos from a record/vinyl party hubby and I hosted recently. If you are a regular here you know that every few months our son and future daughter in law and friends Andrew and Lynn get together to play old vinyl records and take turns hosting. It's always such a fun time!
Lots of pick foods- and there was even more when they arrived with some extra snacks and drink;)
Tag art:
My tag was cut from a large sheet of card stock I inked and stamped over a year ago. The snowman and silver snowflake are from Michaels. Sentiment is Tim Holtz Small Talk Occasions Stickers. Joining in at the Simon Monday Challenge (Let's Sparkle); Moo Mania and More (Use Your Scraps); and Tag Tuesday (White Christmas).
The photo just does NOT do this card justice! Using up my stash of holiday papers for CAS cards this year. The note card, envie, and patterned papers are all an ivory color but it doesn't look that way here. Papers are Authentique two sided 12" x 12" Paper Pad. I added gold and Diamond Stickles glitter glue to give it a lovely sparkle. And I always somehow decorate the envies to somewhat match. Stamps used on envie (Magenta). Joining in at the Simon Wednesday Challenge (Anything Goes).
A journal page done in my Dina Wakley Media Journal:
This page was inspired by an old Lesley Gore song - "You Don't Own Me". Dina Wakley Collage Papers, acrylic paints, pencil, black Fude Ball Pen, black crayon. Joining in at Try It On Tuesday (Inspired By a Song); the December theme of "Words and Numbers" chosen by Yvonne for Art Journal Journey; and Paint Party Friday.
That's all for this time peeps. Be well, be happy, be creative!

your art is always wonderful-loved everything-I would like to try watercolors this coming year too along with the calligraphy-need to learn something new-that is such a fun idea for a get together-vinyl records and good food with friends. Happy T hugs Kathy
ReplyDeleteHappy T day Linda. Lucky you to get rain as we have snow with more to come. Welcome December. I've heard of those vinyl parties and they sound fun. And what a wonderful assortment of art you have for us this week. I like your foray into watercolors. Thanks so much for sharing your art with us at Try It On Tuesday also. It is always much appreciated. Hugs-Erika
ReplyDeleteLots of beautiful, wintry art, love the face journal page too. Thanks so much for linking your lovely tag to Tag Tuesday. Your Thanksgiving food looks wonderful. Happy T Day, Valerie
ReplyDeleteWhite Christmasses are long gone here (and I´m rather glad, too dangerous to drive).
ReplyDeletePeace would be a real gift, though.
I love that lady!!! Happy T-Day!
An amazing variety of gorgeous art Linda! Thank you for joining the challenges! Much appreciated! Happy December.

This is one incredible art filled and beautiful post, Linda. I LOVE your snowman. It's so clever and the shading on the carrot is perfect. The abstract watercolor painting is great, too. I wish I owned some watercolors, now.
ReplyDeleteYour winter inspired snowman tag is adorable. I think I bought some of those snowflakes, too, but have NO idea where I stashed them. Your background is great, too.
I really LOVE the journal page. I'll be singing You Don't Own Me all day long, now! It's lovely and a perfect first entry from you this month using Yvonne's theme at Art Journal Journey.
I had to laugh at your record party. I think you folks just want an excuse to get together, play a few tunes, dance a bit, and EAT. YUMMY food and snacks. BTW, the glass of wine looks like it's balanced on its stem on the table. Thanks for sharing your incredible art, your food, and your wine with us for T this Tuesday.
Wow, lots of fabulous art projects Linda, I really have enjoyed my visit to see you today.
ReplyDeleteThe record party sounds fun, you must have a good time together at these gatherings. The food and snacks looked vert tasty.
The journal page you created with a song in mind is fantastic.I think the tune will be in my head for a while now . I am delighted that you have linked it to Try it on Tuesdays and to my new theme choice for the month st Art Journal Journey.
Happy T day wishes Linda
Yvonne xx
Another delightful post filled with art, Linda. You've been busy. LOVE your snowman and the journal page is fantastic. I, too love the colours :-) Everything you've made is beautiful and your journal entry is wonderful...so gutsy and strong. Your record/vinyl party looks like fun...I'll pop over next time, lol, but just for the eats...;-)
ReplyDeleteThank you for joining Try it on Tuesday's Inspired by a Song with a unique take on the theme!

Beautiful assortment of water color art work. Lovely snowman tag and Christmas card: it looks gorgeous. The food looks delicious. It's fun to have gatherings like that every few months. Happy T-Day!
ReplyDeleteWow, what amazing art! I'm loving the snowman page and also the tag 😁. That's a fabulous song you chose to inspire your art journal page too - perfect! Happy T Day wishes! Hugs, Jo x
ReplyDeleteA happy snowman for a happy December! And the dreaming of a white Christmas tag snowman is making me happy, too. I love your abstract watercolor, and those colors are wonderful :) The vinyl parties sound like fun, and the food looks delicious. There's a good variety, and I think I'll have one of everything please :) We passed our turntable, speakers, albums, etc on to The Elder Son at some point rather than move them once again. Ours were mostly 60s/70s rock and some classical and Christmas albums. We switched to CDs, but now I'm mostly on Spotify. My sound has decreased in quality with each change :( Vinyl rules! Now I have "You Don't Own Me" stuck in my head, but I always loved that song. Happy T Tuesday!
ReplyDeleteWow! What an amazing snowman! I love it. The things you can do with watercolours!
ReplyDeleteI like the idea of a vinyl party. What records did you play? Do you have a theme? Or an era for that particular night? Perhaps you played 'You don't own me'... that was 1963 and I remember it well.
Happy T-Day to you,
Hugs,
Lisca
Hi Lisca, We all just bring one or more vinyl albums - whatever we want- no themes or eras. And we always have such a mix of music styles, some new to some of us each time. No, I didn't play the Lesley Gore album- I just happened to hear it when we were playing music on I heart radio:)
DeleteYour Dina Wakley Journal page is fabulous! I love the colors. And I your watercolor extract is also fabulous with all those colors, marks and drips. So many wonderful pieces of art today.
ReplyDeleteYour Thanksgiving spread looks yummy!
Happy Tea Day,
Kate
What a brilliant post! I love the thought of your vinyl parties! Your food looks great and I can imagine that you have a good reminisce! I love your cheeky snowman! Your Journal page is wonderful and I'm so pleased you joined us at Try It On Tuesday, Chrisx
ReplyDeleteYour snowman painting made me smile as I have been grumbling about the foot of snow we got from a 2 day storm. Pretty tag and fun card and envelope. When I saw your page with You Don't Own Me, I thought of the Lesley Gore song before I read what you had written. An oldie but a goodie. Your record hop sounds like lots of fun with good music and snacks. Happy T Day
ReplyDeleteOh, so much pretty art in your post today. Your snowman tag is delightful. I will have to watch these tutorials you are talking about, because your watercolors are wonderful! Thanks so much for sharing, today, and Happy T Day!
ReplyDeleteLinda, thanks so much for answering my plea. I took notes, screenshots, bookmarked this page and filed the doc in my "Craft Manuals, e-Zines, Classes and Books " folder in a sub folder titled "Linda Kunsman Wet on Wet." You've obviously inspired me with your interpretation of the technique.
ReplyDeleteYour Dina Wakley journal page - wow! Love your reference to the old song.
Happy T-day! Eileen xx

ReplyDeleteLove that snowman!
ReplyDeletegreat works there. I love the colors too, and that last piece is powerful. I feel just exactly like that at the moment... maybe it should be my new badge to remind some men that.

Linda what a great idea regarding the vinyl party a great way to get family together. Buffet style/Party foods work hand in hand with these sort of get togethers. Your watercolouring card and page is fabulous. Love the contrast between the two and their colours. Posca pens are the back bone to art marks.
ReplyDeleteLovely Christmas papers, it's a good way to use up our stash.
Wishing you a super weekend & Happy PPF Tracey xx
Beautiful header and love your tag art snowman ^_^

ReplyDeleteWe don't own our kids neither. Difficult for some parents to remember...
Have a good week ahead!
You share a lot of things that migt be fun to try. Love your snowman. Good it is not in Sweden, the snow we had rained away again.
ReplyDeleteGreat artwork Linda and the tutorial you watched sounds interesting
