You Got This
What a roller coaster ride of emotions this last week! How about you? How are you doing? I had a very disconcerting experience at the grocery store the end of last week which prompted the first journal page I'll share. Joining Art Journal Journey for the theme of Geometric Shapes, and I'll also join in at Try It On Tuesday (have fun with stencils):
I had done the background painting and chose this image from the Dina Wakley Collage Collective to use and then left it on the table to finish after I came back from a grocery run. This canvas page turned into something I had to spill out after coming home - not what I had intended for this page. So, upon arriving at the store I got out of the car to see a longish line of people standing on large dots on the sidewalk 6 ft. apart. There were Wegman's employees monitoring and allowing us only one by one to go into the store- and only when someone else was leaving from the opposite entrance. It was an eerie experience and I felt like I was plopped into a science fiction movie. It was so very quiet in the store-very little talking. The lights flickered out two different times, and each time a gasp could be heard from the people. Almost every person had on a mask and gloves(myself included). It took quite awhile to check out, and then only one by one could we be escorted out- at an entrance opposite the door we came into. It kinda shook me up even though I know they were just being very cautious and safe. It kinda had me in a funk for two days. But then, the cloud over me lifted as we had a gorgeous weekend and hubby and I spent much of our time outdoors:)
Here he is relaxing with a glass of Bordeaux and a book after a full day of yard work. Cheers to the T Stands For Tuesday gang!
I painted these grungy flowers in my mixed media journal a little while ago but forgot to post it:
I coated a page with black gesso. The painting was done using acrylics and my fingers- except for the splattering;)
And I have two more pages finished in one of my little junk journals:
The pages are about 3 1/2" x 5 1/2".
That's it for me today. Also joining Paint Party Friday:)
Hoping we don't lose power as we have been having high gusty damage producing winds and rain storms throughout the day! Wishing you all well.

Gosh, Linda. The experience at the grocery store has me saying I'm NOT leaving my yard until I feel safe, no matter who says it's OK to go back to work. I love what you created, though. It turned out great. So glad you also shared it with us at Art Journal Journey, too.
ReplyDeleteI also really LOVE those grungy flowers, and your tiny book. What lovely spreads, including all that texture I can almost feel.
Thanks for sharing your incredible art and your husband's wine with us for T this almost Tuesday, dear Linda.
Love all your art. It fits perfectly with what is going on in the world at the moment. Your mixed media flowers are so pretty and so is your junk journal.
ReplyDeleteHappy Tea Day,
Kate
Sam here, I have seen long queues waiting well spaced out, and I 'm happy I don't have to go shopping myself. You made some beautiful art, and thanks for linking to AJJ, much appreciated. Lovey little journal pages and a beautiful painting, too. Happy T Day, hugs, Valerie
ReplyDeleteLinda you described exactly how I feel shopping, I feel so shaken when I get home, every person who comes towards me I squash myself into the shelves to keep my distance, last week they gave is hand wash and plastic bags for our hands, I was obsessed with not touching things, when I go tomorrow I will be taking my rubber gloves and a mask I’ve made, I’m also worried for days if I cough! Totally mad.
ReplyDeleteYour paintings are lovely and pleased you are also enjoying your garden in the sun as we are, when we have some that is.

You made a lovely assortment of artwork this past week. Your grocery store trip sounded very disconcerting, so I can understand why it put you in a funk. I'm glad you had a nice Easter weekend. I hope you didn't lose power yesterday. It was very windy here in Connecticut, too, with a lot of scattered power outages.
ReplyDeleteGood morning, When I went grocery shopping last week tuesday they had things set up the same way-I went really early as I was trying to get in for the senior hours but with it being so dark, I got there probably a few minute before 7am when the senior hours ended. I am glad it worked out that way otherwise I would have had to wait in line too-a long time too many were leaving as I got there. it is really a weird experience for sure. I didn't wear a mask, several others were, and was surprised none of the staff were wearing masks.
ReplyDeleteI remember my Mom telling me about during the war when she was young and the food was really in short supply at that time-especially things like butter flour and eggs breads.
I love your paintings-the first one is perfect, I love your flowers-I may try that technique, and I love your art spreads too.
sounds nice a glass of wine outdoors-we are back to really cold and windy again. Happy T Hugs Kathy
You created such beauty in your page! I'm sorry your experience wasn't a great one at the grocery store, sending you virtual hugs and I'm glad that the sunny weather cheered you up 😁. Those grungy flowers are gorgeous, your painting is amazing! Wishing you a Happy T Day and keep well! Hugs, Jo x
ReplyDeleteYour mask page is amazing Linda. What a great way to show your emotions with all this going on. You've been an art roll lately. Including those beautiful flowers. You could share your stenciled grunge journal page with us at Try It on Tuesday also. ANd thanks for joining us at AJJ. And I love the photo of the hubby with his book and wine. That says so much about these days. Hope everyone is staying well and coping with these trying times. Happy T day. Hugs-Erika
ReplyDeleteThis is the third time of trying, keeps throwing me out, your experience at the supermarket is just how I feel, scared to walk near anyone, of touching anything, i feel so shaken by the time I get home and then cleaning the shopping, cleaning any surfaces after the shopping is dealt with, makes it not worth going out at all.
ReplyDeleteHopefully this will all be over soon, fingers crossed.
Keep Safe, Jan x
Yes, here in Spain it's the same. We have to queue outside and are issued gloves when we come in, after the shop assistant tell me when i can come in. Yesterday (Monday, which in Spain is a normal working day) I needed to go to the shop to get milk, but it was raining so hard and I didn't fancy queuing up in the rain. And it is a 12 minute walk from here to the shop. We are not allowed more than one person in the car, but I didn't fancy getting wet, so I asked my hubby to drive me. I figured in this weather there wouldn't be much of a queue. I was right. No queue and i was in and out in minutes! And fortunately there were no police out and about either! Phew!
ReplyDeleteBut i digress...
Your art is beautiful as always and i smiled at the relaxing photo of your hubby with his book and his wine. That's the way to do it!
Stay safe, stay healthy, stay home,
Hugs,
Lisca
Yes, I think we're going to that one in one out of the store this week :( it is creepy. Great art journal pages and hubby with a glass after working hard is a nice bonus. ~ Just remember your message this week "You got this!"
ReplyDeleteI've never been to a store in weeks, our sons take care of our shopping and they have to queue up as well, we are truly grateful for the help they give us
ReplyDeleteeven though we have to keep our distance, oh how I would love to give them a hug.
Take care, stay safe and well
Happy T day wishes.
Yvonne xx
Thank you for sharing your fabulous journal spread with us at Try it on Tuesdays as well as Art Journal Journey.
Better safe than sorry I guess. I haven't had that experience here, but I haven't been out in 2 weeks. I imagine it'll come. I love your painted flowers :) Happy T Tuesday!
ReplyDeleteThat page will make a great memento of the Stay At Home Advisory. That certainly was a surreal description of a trip to the grocery store. I hope you were able to find everything you needed. We weren't able to score TP or paper towels. Your patio looks like a wonderful oasis from the chaos. The flowers are so very pretty as well as the other two pages. Take care and Happy T Day
ReplyDeleteSupermarket experience has not affected your art ~ The first one 'You got this' is lovely ~ Hubby looks content ~ not warm enough here yet to sit outside ~ And your floral painting is gorgeous!

I enjoyed this post so much, made me feel better about this surreal time. Take care and thanks!!
ReplyDeleteLOVE all the stencil work on your art journal spread!!! AWESOME!!! Thanks for joining us at Try it on Tuesday! ((HUGS)) Helen
ReplyDeleteWhat beautifulArt pages Linda !! I love them all, they are wonderful. The first is very original with the fabric you have painted.
ReplyDeleteYour junk journal is looking wonderful. Great Art!
Happy T-day!
I hope everything is fine, stay safe at home.
Big hugs, Caty
Gorgeous artwork. I went to the grocery store at 4:30am to avoid as many people as possible. I hadn't been in 3 weeks. I was surprised that there were as many people there as there were. But that was on Good Friday so that may have increased the numbers.
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely gorgeous pieces of art, Linda. The 3 journal pages are profound and poignant. I have to run errands later today and my stomach is in knots. It's so eerie. I'm happy to stay home for now and pray for this pandemic to end.
ReplyDeleteTake care and stay safe.
Happy T-Day! Hugs, Eileen
A fabulous page Linda and although we haven't been out for weeks and have the shopping delivered, I've seen news coverage of the queues and it's quite scary. Love the little pages in your junk journal, something I keep saying I must make. Hope you don't get the storms forecast, stay safe, Avril.
ReplyDeletePs. Forgot to say Thanks for linking up to our stencil challenge at TioT. X
Just love your page for AJJ and the lovely junk journal. Yes things are a bit weird at the moment, hopefully it won't be for too long. Take care, Wendy
ReplyDeleteLove all your journal pages -- very pretty! sounds like an interesting grocery run...your area seems to be taking more precautions than mine. but my hubby has been doing all the shopping. I've only been out and about once in 4 weeks, except to go for a walk! Strange times...thank goodness for art to help us unwind!
ReplyDeleteWhat an experience, but what great page to come out of it! Thank you for joining us at Try It On Tuesday! My sons tell me of similar experiences with their shopping - we have been lucky to get some online orders and my youngest, who lives closest, picks up anything we can't get. It also means I get to see him - if only from the walkway and as he says- he has a good excuse to get some exercise on his bike! I love the junk journal pages, I keep filling mine up but forget to post them! Love the flowers too, my paints have only been out to make backgrounds!! Stay Safe, Hugs, Chrisx
ReplyDeleteHappy PPF, have a safe Weekend! Hugs, Valerie
ReplyDeleteWonderful creations Linda! And your post reflects what most of us are feeling. My husband is doing all of the shopping and I am exercising the 4-legged boss, Harley. It gets me outside. I am thankful for my orchids. If I want summer blooms, I have to tend to them now. Be safe and well and Happy PPF
ReplyDeleteWonderful creations, love them all.
ReplyDeleteI love them all too-but especially your junk journal pages. I'm inspired by them and they are lovely to look at.
ReplyDeleteA trip to Wegmans is definitely not what it use to be.. I'm limiting my trips to once every 10-14 days because it is so mentally & emotionally draining. Your trip to the store inspired some very beautiful artwork, though. :)
ReplyDeleteGorgeous and creative artworks in your junk journal pages ~ Hope all is well with you ^_^

Sending lots of hugs to you as we all go through the crazyness ~ You and hubby look like you are content ~ creating and reading ^_^

At the bakery no one is allowed in without a face mask, and you have to queue up outside allowing for social distancing inside and outside. All new to me, very strange but for our well being
ReplyDeleteLuv all your art today
Much🎑love
Love the 'You got this page.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful art. The junk journals are my favorites😍
ReplyDeleteHappy weekend ❣️
Glad you survived your visit to the grocery store, it is an eerie world out there. Keep the faith. Lovely art pieces though.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful journal additions! I think we all have a lot of company feeling like we are living in a sci-fi movie. Be well!
ReplyDeleteVery interesting post. As I read it I could visualize the scene. Yes, like an apocalyptic movie none of us want to be in. I am impressed with how this store is handling safety though. Good for them. Your funky mood did not take away from the beauty you created. The first one is very powerful and I love the grungy flowers. We can only take this one day at a time and do what ever we need to do to stay up and positive. Elbow Hugs.
ReplyDeleteHi, Linda. Lovely work as always. I love how you use colour. I've been saying for a while that this whole thing is like a sci-fi movie unfolding in front of us. Like imitating art? I don't know, but I do know these are frightening times. I have been tea-total for years, but right now a glass of that wine looks extremely inviting. Stay Safe.
ReplyDeleteLove the little junk book with your lovely artwork ~ Hope you are having a good weekend ~ despite the chaos of C virus ~ Lots of healing hugs to you both ^_^

I love you art. The roses are my favorites.
ReplyDeleteI like the journal page. the masked lady says it all.
ReplyDeleteAnd, what gorgeous flowers. I almost can fe the fragrance from them.
I´m fine, hope you are too!
Lovely journal page
ReplyDeleteI haven't been to a store for over six weeks now, and don't intend going. Buying everything on line and having it delivered and a little help from family for the few items I haven't sourced on line. Stay safe.
