Well hello peeps! Hope everyone is doing well. Hubby and I finally made it to our last scheduled trip to Cape May (the earlier 2 had to be cancelled -you know why 😔). We weren't sure at all what to expect or how things would go as far as dining, etc. but we needed to get away no matter - and it was really wonderful, and we felt quite comfortable too! I will say we found it the most crowded we had ever seen the center pedestrian square (which is like any town's Main Street) this time of year! People were on top of each other- in the outdoor dining places, in the stores, and in the surrounding streets. SO, we got away from it as quickly as we could, and then stayed away! After over 25 years of going to CM we didn't need to be in the center touristy area of shops and dining😉
We also celebrated our anniversary there and were pleasantly surprised that evening we went out to a newer(to us) favorite place. More on that in another post.
The water came up higher than we'd ever seen but it wasn't that cold. It was the high winds though and the cold air that was a bit challenging at times. To the left of the yellow house is the motel we stay at. They did such a super job regarding cleanliness and all the Covid rules!
After some beach time we walked to have an early dinner at
Ocean View Restaurant where we typically go for breakfast. But we have found their lunch and dinner food to be fantastic as well. And so here is my ticket back in to
T Stands For Tuesday:
Yes, we did eat indoors even though there was plenty of space outdoors. But it was windy- and I'm always cold so thankfully restaurants got approval to again allow indoor dining at 25% capacity. I had a chicken Caesar wrap which came with fries, a dill pickle and coleslaw. My drink choice- water. Hubby had coffee and a turkey club sandwich(look at all the fries on his plate- and he ate every bit!!) Of course I had to take half of my wrap with me and ate it that evening. Cheers to the gang-can't wait to catch up with everyone!
And now for the art part.
This journal page in the Dina Wakley Blue Edition Media Journal was made for the last Instagram "Year Of Gratitude" Challenge hosted by Dina and Ranger Ink. The prompt was "I am grateful for reflection". I USED to be quite a perfectionist regarding pretty much everything. I am so glad I grew out of that-because man, that was a lot of work I imposed upon myself!
Another page in the Blue Journal- this time on a burlap page. I used Dina Wakley stencils and gloss sprays on the page. I made three tags similar to this one to add to my pages. These textured tags were inspired by tags I saw on another artist's Instagram feed. I used dictionary text on the tag before adding the modeling paste, gloss sprays, and stamping. That bit of black mesh was lying on my art table so I just plopped it behind the tag. Joining in at
Art Journal Journey (theme is "texture" hosted this month by
Jo),
Tag Tuesday(theme is "book pages"), and
Try It On Tuesday (Use Your Scraps).
I'm also getting back to
Paint Party Friday later in the week. Looking forward to seeing all you've been up to lately!
I thought this quote to be so appropriate since we are enjoying very warm, summer-like weather right now (as in 82 F as I'm typing this)- and I for one couldn't be happier about it😁
" Happily we bask in this warm September sun, which illuminates all creatures..."
Henry David Thoreau
You are so lucky to have a chance to get away! We are still staying in and not eating in restaurants, even outdoors.
ReplyDeleteI think we once stayed at that motel in Cape May! Or one that looked similar. I'm amazed that it was crowded. I've always liked an Italian restaurant that's near the entrance to town (not near the water).
Be well... mae at maefood.blogspot.com
Hi Linda, I am so happy you were able to get back to the beach-and to go to a restaurant as well. and Happy Anniversary! Loved your art too
ReplyDeleteHappy T and new week Kathy
It looks like you had a lovely time Linda. It worked out great you could get away finally, and celebrate your anniversary too. I am with you about not worrying about perfection in art. It is hard to get to that point though, isn't it? Loving your latest art. It is perfect for Jo's challenge at AJJ and also for the use your scraps challenge at Try It on Tuesday. Thanks for joining in. Have a super T day and rest of your month. Hugs-Erika

How wonderful you two look at the beach! Congratulations and Happy Anniversary to you.
ReplyDeleteSo glad you were able to get away to Cape May in time for your 37th wedding anniversary. Sounds like it was a double treat. I'm also glad you felt safe going there and even dining INSIDE. I fear I'm not that brave.
ReplyDeleteYou have created some beautiful journal pages this week, Linda. Looks like you are on a roll with those gorgeous colors and textures you provided for Jo's theme at Art Journal Journey. Thanks so much for sharing these beauties with us.
I could also eat all those french fries. In fact, I've been known to chow down on nothing but french fries. Your wrap looks lovely, and I'm thrilled you shared it, your water and your husband's coffee, as well as your incredible art with us for T this almost Tuesday.
Glad you managed to get away. I wonder how those of us who never get away manage?! Lots of lovely art, thanks so much for joining us at Tag Tuesday and TIOT, much appreciated. Have a great week, stay safe? Valerie
ReplyDeleteI´ll never get it. Here they showed scenes from a tram where people also partied like crazy being so near I wouldn´t like it if there was no "Corona" or anything.
ReplyDeleteAre they dumb?
Loveliest pictures of you!
And the ocean, awww.
So. You´re a "I take the other half home-person", too! Refreshing. I always get teased on this.
Love your artwork. True words. Both.
Happy T-day to you!
Your Tag is just fabulous..love the colours and texture. The purple really gives the tag depth..great use of the dictionary page too.

ReplyDeleteHappy anniversary! You guys must have married very very young. I'm glad you could get away to CP, your happy place. Your Caesar wrap looks very good.
ReplyDeleteI adore your page and the sentiment. Perfect. I tend toward perfectionism like you and art is helping me get past a lot of it.
The tag is special too. I'm so glad you got away but also that you're back with all your inspiring art.
Happy T-day! Hugs, Eileen
So lovely to see you at Cape May again and it looks like you had a wonderful time! I loved seeing your smiling faces and hat could be more perfect than walking along the beach 😀. I loved seeing your Cape May pictures. I can imagine it was crowded as everyone has gone stir crazy. My friend had the same experience down at the Outer Banks, NC last week. She said normally NO one is there in September and this year it was packed. But as long as you enjoyed yourselves that is all that matters. I am glad that you finally were able to go and celebrate your anniversary. How disappointing that there were two cancels.
ReplyDeleteYour art is lovely and I am liking your Dina Art on the Burlap. The page adds instant texture for sure.
Happy Tea Day,
Kate

Loved the photographs of your Anniversary Trip, it looks beautiful where you were and brought back happy memories of my time in The States with those huge Dill Pickles served with food. (I don't think we have them over here in the UK, well I have not seen them served in restaurants).
ReplyDeleteLove your artwork, both pieces but especially the piece on the burlap page with its intensity of colour. Fab use of texture with the black netting and the colourful tag.
Hugs, Neet xx
