What a crazy weather week it's been in our parts again! Sudden downpours and thunderstorms in between bouts of hot sun with very high humidity and heat index levels. Luckily we never lost power nor had hail or damaging winds like some areas did. Aah, but we have yet another week of this same weather to deal with. Glad my nesting birds have stayed safe:) Above is my latest peek at the three house finches in my front porch geranium basket. They now have most all their feathers. As for the Carolina wrens in our back porch basket- there are no eggs yet, just lots of activity.
I spent much of this past Saturday in the kitchen baking - a French chocolate cake for my Mom's birthday dinner the next day (which I totally forgot to take any photos of), and finally I made the almond cookie recipe that Nicole (DVArtist) shared on her blog quite awhile ago for one of the T Stands For Tuesday gatherings. I DID stop to take a photo while enjoying one or two with my coffee but it wasn't easy. These cookies are absolutely delicious- and friends and family who had some LOVED them!! So, thank you Nicole:
and cheers to the T gang!
For the art this week it's just going to be my latest index card art as I really didn't have time for anything else.
Starting where I left off in my last post:
In this off prompt series I started it with 5 landscape format cards, and then switched to vertical format for these next 5- all the backgrounds were done the same way;
Starting by gluing patterned tissue papers (from
Joggles orders), and then adding lots of mark making with stencils, Posca pens, pencil, water soluble crayons:
before finishing each with a botanical and a sentiment from a collage sheet from
Paper Whimsy:
ICAD 36/61 flower is a Dina Wakley stamp
ICAD 37/61 flower is a stamp from Local King
ICAD 38/61 flower pods are hand drawn
ICAD39/61 Leaves is a stamp by Dylusions/Dyan Reavely
ICAD 40/61 Tree stamp is from Magenta
And I am now on to another series of 10 similar style ICADs- this time using watercolors, collage, letter tiles (Tim Holtz), and a word from a typed collage sheet I've had in my stash for quite some time;) These backgrounds were inspired by
You Tube Videos by Shanouki Art:
ICAD 41/61 (for these first 5 cards in this series I am using my very favorite Daniel Smith Opera Pink, along with Cascade Green)
ICAD 42/61
I've had these tile letters for so long and either had to find a way to use them or let them go 😁 Joining in at
Paint Party Friday later this week. Will try and get back into some of the other blog challenges next week. Until then, have a super week ahead!

We've had that same crazy weather too. What a July. We've had so much rain. Your cake sounds yummy and your cookies look good too. And you have some fantastic index cards too. The black and white works so well with those pretty backgrounds. It looks like you've been having all kinds of fun even with this crazy weather. Have a great T day Linda. Hugs-Erika
ReplyDeleteThe cookies look delicious. Your index card backgrounds are beautiful. Love them all.
ReplyDeleteHappy Tea Day,
Kate
Hi Linda, those almond cookies look delicious, and I love all of your art this week. We are having cooler and wet weather too-kind of a nice change from the heat. Happy T wishes Kathy
ReplyDeleteThese almond cookies remind me of some I had at an upscale Chinese restaurant one year in CA. They look wonderful and I'm sure they were perfect with your coffee.
ReplyDeleteHappy belated birthday to your mother, too. I hope she enjoyed her meal and cake. Thanks for sharing these with us for T this anniversary Tuesday.
I am in LOVE with your wonderful ICADs. The black and white elements go so well over the very colorful backgrounds. I really LOVE Grace. It is awesome. The layers are superb. Have a super T Tuesday, dear Linda.
On the cards with bold black & white botanical shapes -- I like the contrast to the multi-color backgrounds! Nice.

Linda, happy T-day! Lovely looking cookies and the cake sounds great (wish you would have taken a picture - lol). Love all the ICADs - hard to pick a favorite this time, but I love the colors and fun elements you added. If I had to pick one as a fave, I would pick 40 as I love the owls and the words made me think - does the world turn softly? These words can be very deep as you think about them. Seems it does when things are going well, and them seems to be pretty rough when not - so interesting! Hugz
ReplyDeleteLinda your index cards are really lovely, very colourful . All this bakin makes me hungry,
ReplyDeleteWe’ve had strange weather, after a hot day we could see the mist coming over the mountains and the next morning there was fog, in July! Reminds of San Francisco where my son lives.
Happy T Day, jan
So much inspiration on your pages, love it. I have some nesting birds also. Very exciting. Those cookies look great. I love almond flavored anything!

Happy birthday to your mom! Lovely art this week Linda. And Nicole is a great cook.
ReplyDeleteAre the little birds doing well? Happy PPF and have a great weekend, hugs,Valerie
ReplyDeleteWe have had the same crazy weather here. Yes, so glad the birds are safe, they are so cute. Many a time, pigeons make their nests in our balcony (they create a mess, but can't do anything about it :)).
ReplyDeleteThe cookies look delicious. And your cards are very pretty and creative, as usual.
So many people saying about the weather change, surprise for me here in England as we actually have some sunshine in Summer, not a common thing now a days. The little birds are so sweet, I hope there is a sign of eggs in the other nest very soon.
ReplyDeleteYou did a marvellous job with your limited time with the ICADS, love how they are all layered up, amazing results. I say every time I see them I must find time to play but i'm lucky to get anything down on paper at the moment. Happy Birthday to Mom, bet those cookies tasted fab!!
Happy PPF Hugs Tracey xx
It's great to use stuff that has been in your stash for so long. Great cards as usual.
