Time Marches On

March is rolling in tomorrow and I for one am so happy to be through the worst of the winter months! Yes, it is very cold here but the sun will be shining all week so I hope to see things budding.

Anyone celebrating Mardi Gras? Obviously I don't because I all but forgot about it again this year so there's no fun Mardi Gras art to share. However, I do have art projects for blog challenges.

First up today is a tag I made for Tag Tuesday (theme is Bingo/Numbers):

Happily I remembered I had this very old unmounted Bingo card stamp I had gotten at a stamp convention years ago. Glad I held onto this one. It was stamped several times on the tag using black Archival ink. The background was done with Vintage Photo, Faded Jeans, and Fossilized Amber Distress Oxide inks. I added Tim Holtz Paper Dolls and Small Talk Menus sticker along with washi tape(Recollections) and vintage rick rack.

This journal page was created with Try It On Tuesday in mind with the theme of  "Add Some Texture", and I will also join in for the last day of the theme "What's Your Style" at Art Journal Journey:

First some torn Dina Wakley Collage paper was glued to the top right, then modeling paste was applied to the top right using Dina Wakley Favorites stencil. After it dried I applied Dina Wakley Gloss Sprays(Night, Cheddar) with a wet brush. Tim Holtz Paper Dolls and Small Talk Menus sticker over a  burlap scrap and thread.

Speaking of Tuesday- here is my ticket for T Stands For Tuesday this week:

Cherry Chocolate Chip scone anyone? Coffee is my choice and I switched out my mug to a Celtic Scottish thistle mug in preparation for St. Patrick's Day 💚. Cheers!

This journal page is meant for the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge (use at least one stencil):

The paper with the tissue paper leaf applied (Dina Wakley Elements set) was actually an under paper but just as I saw it with fresh eyes I saw a landscape scene, and there you have it:). I stenciled the page first using Orchid paint and the Connected Dots stencil, then I used Syrup paint through the Stacked Cubes stencil. Torn bit of Just Words Collage tissue went down next, then a scrap of Collage Collective paper. The fabric piece was a scrap sitting on my table which I stitched with the focal piece. And the quote is from Typed Ledgers papers set 1. All Dina Wakley products.

And one more art journal page I recently shared on Instagram:

This page is what came to mind during a very dreary, cold, rainy day along with hearing the devastating news regarding Ukraine crisis. The muted tones and words reflected my thoughts. I used all Dina Wakley products.

Of course all my pages in this post could link to Art Journal Journey because mixed media collage journaling is truly my style. Thank you dear Bleubeard and Elizabeth for a great theme!

Joining along with Paint Party Friday too😄. Wishing you all a fantastic week!

  1. I can't believe that March is here! Time goes way too quickly.
Your journal pages are lovely as always and my favorite is the dolls with the drippy paint and threads. So pretty!
I'll take a Cherry Chocolate Chip Scone! At least this way there is no calories.
    Happy Tea Day,
    Kate

  2. Another fun art post Linda. Thanks for sharing that very textured page for TIOT. I like the drips and burlap a lot. And that page for AJJ is also beautiful. I like all your journaling details. Thanks for joining us for Elizabeth's challenge. And nice tag and other journal page too. And for T, I'll be by for a scone-smile. I like your mug for St. Patrick's day too. Have a great T day and start to March also. Hugs-Erika

  4. I like all of the journal pages you showed here, they are very beautiful.
In Germany where I come from Mardi Gras is very popular in many parts of the country. It's often called the "fifth season". However, this year many celebrations and parades were cancelled because of the terrible war in Ukraine. The dominating feeling was that you can't dance and have fun while there's a war just three hours away by plane.

  6. Hi Linda, loving all of your art this week-I really enjoy seeing it. My favorite is the last piece.
I have never made scones and they always look so good I have never celebrated Mardi Gras, but sounds fun Happy T

  7. Your art always blows me away, Linda. I am so in awe. Your bingo tag is lovely. Are those new paper dolls? I've got two sets and have never seen either the ones on the tag or the journal page. My sets are the first two, so I must be far behind. Love what you did with your journal pages. I love the drips, splatters, and collage pieces on the one with the boys, and I really love the page with the fabric and sewing. This is special, too. Thanks beyond belief for sharing ALL of these with us at Art Journal Journey using Bleubeard's and my theme.

Now I want a scone. They look so good. I bet they went well with your coffee, too. I was surprised you had gotten your St. Patrick's Day mug out already, but I guess it's that time. Thanks for sharing it, your art, your coffee, and your scones with us for T this Tuesday, dear.

BTW, I wrote a Mardi Gras post earlier in the day (the post prior to the T Day one). I love Mardi Gras after visiting one year, but now I do it virtually as a journal page.

  8. Great art and quotes! Love them all.
Yes, as Carola said, no celebrations in Germany. Last year due to COVID, this year on top due to the war. Instead in Cologne they had a huge parade in blue and yellow, and also here people came together to show they stand behind Ukraine.

Happy T-day, anyways, right. We need some happiness.

  19. Wow Linda! What a fabulous post! Your together page is my favourite. I love the collage page too, but really all of your art today is wonderful! We don't celebrate Mardi Gras, but here it is Shrove Tuesday ( a day for using up food that isn't consumed during lent was the original meaning behind it) so we had pancakes with lemon and sugar yesterday. Thank you for sharing at both Art Journal Journey and Try It On Tuesday. Oh! and Happy T Day - those scones look delicious! Hugs, Chrisx

  23. I'm so glad March is here too, it does mean spring is on the way, and my pond is full of frogs laying frog spawn, always a good spring sign. Love your pages, especially the texture of the paper in the first one, looks great with the DW sprays. Happy belated T Day Elle/EOTC xx
